Al-Badri said in an exclusive interview that "it is possible that the post of prime minister is the share of the Islamic Dawa Party through the political movement taking place," pointing to the possibility of re-candidacy of Abadi for a second term, through consultations that we see and note.

He added that "talks are now underway towards the formation of the largest bloc," noting that there are meetings between Nuri al-Maliki and Hadi al-Amiri and Haidar Abadi on determining the personality of the next prime minister. "

The swamp is deep and wide......I hope I am wrong but looks like Sadr talks big, but with Jubouri getting back in and Maliki will buy his way back in nothing will change with the GOI in any significant way. Again, I hope I am wrong but the writing is beginning to appear on the wall.   Pass the gravy....

They said Iraq has 3 months to for the government.  Trump's envoy will be coming to announce the PM and create a pathway for the government, and Iraq news sources are saying this will greatly expedite the process.  Let's hope Trump is intervening because he wants to start the RV, which he has mentioned as recent as 2017 will be happening.

They are letting the rats back on the ship.  Maybe it is the only way to keep the country from going into a civil war.  We’ll wait and see what happens but it appears to me Iran is getting their boys back into a leadership role in this new government.  That didn’t work out so great for us the last time.  Sadr and Abadi need to close the exchange window and push the RV button or Maliki and Jobu will keep ripping off the Iraqi people and Iran.

Iraq is in desperate need of some adult supervision over there. It's been nearly 2 months since the election an still no finalized results. There's just to much that can go wrong with this much time to form a government. These long delays just gives more time for the crooks to regroup, I don't trust any of them. With enough money, extortion an mob type pressure anything is possible in Iraq politics. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Maliki buy enough of these groups to form the next government...

Chuck. I thought about this for awhile and came to the conclusion that Sadr may not have had a choice.  Or, some deal was made before the election to place Sadr as the victor.

It is tough to cobble together a working government and this may be the best thing for Iraq and us. Remember before the election there was so much good news and even since the election there have been some good developments.  I just hope for the sake of the Iraqi people this new government will continue the movement toward an international rate for their money and reconstruction.

As I stated in my other post, let’s see what happens.  I am optimistically cautious but I’m kind of like Cuba Gooding Jr in “ Jerry Maguire”,  “show me the money”

Iran fears the formation of an Iraqi government in the coming period, which might not be under its influence. The Mullahs are worried about the victory of Sairoun coalition led by Shia cleric Moqtada al Sadr, who pose a threat to their existence in the country, according to observers.

Iran seeks to isolate Sadr and restrict his influence, despite having established an alliance with pro-Iran politician Hadi Al Amiri, who head Fatah coalition.

Iran is exerting great pressure on its allies in Iraq to force them to rearrange political alliances to ensure imposing a siege on Sadr's electoral list.

Image1_72018914734356768977.png

Observers do not rule out that the two states sponsoring the political process in Iraq, the United States and Iran will attempt to restrict Sadr's influence, who had already faced the United States in a direct war and Iran in an indirect war with its Loyalist and Former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki.

Iran would seize the opportunity of the bad relationship between Washington and Sadr, to put forward an alternative solution that depends mainly on the principle of quotas.

Tehran offered a roadmap to the Shiite political forces to build a broad alliance between them, and then join forces with some of the Sunnis and Kurds to form a large parliamentary bloc in the next parliament to nominate the new prime minister, well-informed sources said.

Image1_72018914813615334238.png

The sources said that Fatah and Maliki's electoral lists agreed on the Iranian plan, while Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi did not respond to it and Sadr rejected it.

In addition, the sources underlined that the Iran intensified its pressure on Sadr, seeking to isolate him by building a strong Shiite alliance against him, forcing him to agree to work with the electoral list backed by Iran.

Image1_72018914843929032712.png

A delegation from Fatah and State of Law Coalition in visited capital of Iraqi Kurdistan Erbil to convince Leader of Kurdistan Democratic Party Masoud Barzani, to pressure Kurdish political forces to agree on Iran's plans to form the largest bloc in parliament.

Meanwhile, Sadr received at his headquarters in the city of Najaf, Head of National List Ayad Allawi to discuss the situation of Tehran's pressure and respond to it.

Experts told The Baghdad Post that Iran will continue to try to implement its plans and isolate Sadr, as well as pursing the establishment of the largest bloc in parliament, while will fight the Iranian influence in his country by forming blocs with other influential politicians.
