All this wrangling for, hopefully, the most Safe, Secure, AND Sovereign State Of Iraq will give a HUGE boost of confidence to world entities especially if coupled with a swift and decisive wipe out of the existing corruption. Sadr seems to be keen on this so hopefully this will translate to firm and quick action once the new GOI is operating.

 

I could be wrong, but I am anticipating this all having a hand in the initial Iraqi Dinar ReInstated or ReValued exchange rate that may provide steady and sustainable improvements over time. Conversely, a less Safe, Secure, AND Sovereign State Of Iraq could lead to a weaker initial exchange rate that may erode over time.

 

So, to me, worth the wait for the BEST!!!

BAGHDAD:  Iraq's Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said he will not "cling to power," after the country's highest Shiite religious authority called for the appointment of a new head of government. A member of the leader's parliamentary bloc, however, said Friday that if al-Abadi gets a majority in the legislature he will form the new Cabinet.

A member of al-Abadi's al-Nasr List, or Victory List, said Friday that the outgoing prime minister is still negotiating to form the largest bloc in parliament and if he succeeds then al-Abadi will be nominated for forming the new Cabinet. The legislator spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief media.

Al-Abadi's political position has weakened in the wake of rioting in Iraq's oil capital, Basra, over corruption, failed services and contaminated drinking water.

Al-Abadi, who was backed by the U.S. for a second term in office, said he would respect the directives of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, who said it was time for Iraq to appoint a prime minister it has never had before. Al-Abadi made his remarks at his weekly press conference on Thursday.

Political analyst Ihsan al-Ashaari said al-Abadi's statement does not mean that the outgoing prime minister is no longer trying to hang on to the post. He said this decision will be made by the largest blocs in the legislature.

"The negotiations are still ongoing," al-Ashaari said.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iraq's Sunni coalition leaders on Friday voiced their support for a young lawmaker named Mohamed Rikan al-Halbusi to head the next parliamentary term, just a day before the new council members' first session is set to continue.

The announcement came during a press conference held after a meeting between leading members of the National Axis Alliance, which holds nearly 53 seats and is made up of the majority of Iraq's Sunni-led parties. The gathering took place at the home of former parliament speaker Salim al-Jabouri.

According to an informal system of power-sharing in Iraq, a member of the Shia community holds the prime minister post, a Sunni Iraqi is speaker of parliament, and a Kurd holds the presidency.

In their first meeting on Sept. 3, when newly-elected MPs were sworn in, lawmakers failed to elect a speaker, parliament's first step in the process of forming a new government.

On Friday, the recent political deadlock seemed to have ended after intense rounds of negotiation between various members of the Sunni coalition, resulting in the nomination of Halbusi, a 37-year-old engineer from the predominantly Sunni province of Anbar in western Iraq.

If elected, he will be the youngest person in Iraq’s history to hold the post.

"With the agreement of the Axis and all the blocs and partners, we announce the nomination of Halbusi on behalf of the largest Sunni bloc to take over the position of the presidency of the Iraqi parliament," said Ahmed Abdullah al-Jabouri, a leader in the National Axis Alliance. His comments were officially on behalf of the coalition’s head, Khamis al-Khanjar.

"We are confident that our bid has your support," declared Jabouri, addressing all political parties within Iraq's parliament.

The position of speaker is now contested only by Khalid al-Obeidi, leader of the Bayariq al-Khair party. Obeidi, however, is part of caretaker government Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi’s Nasr (Victory) Coalition.

A member of the coalition of Nasr Khalid al-Obeidi, who nominated himself to the presidency of parliament, Saturday, that the presidency was bought by 30 million dollars by the corrupt family.

Arbil (Kurdistan 24) - The Iraqi parliament elected Saturday Mohammed Halbusi as its president after a marathon session in which six candidates competed and withdrew most of them successively.

Halabousi won the votes of 169 deputies out of 298 deputies attended the session of the parliament, a total of 329 deputies, to be the first young president to lead the parliament.

Halabousi won the Anbar alliance in the May 12 election, which was rigged with allegations of fraud and manipulation.

Halabousi lead by a large margin on Obeidi

 

According to the prevailing norm in Iraq, the speaker must be Sunni. Halaboussi, 36, is from the town of Karma in Anbar, western Iraq.

Halaboussi competed fiercely with Khalid al-Obeidi, who was born in Mosul and took up the post of defense minister before being ousted by parliament before the start of the Mosul battle in 2016.

Obaidi received 89 votes.

Stressed Oil Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, Saturday, on the need to approve oil and gas law, as pointed out that his ministry is seeking to achieve a true partnership with the Council of Basra.

Said Abdul-Mahdi in an expanded conference to discuss mutual between the federal government and local governments in the oil and gas management powers, on Saturday, "noting that" the conference is the second came to discuss mutual powers between the federal government and local governments in the oil and gas department in Basra province in the presence of heads of provincial councils and governors " .

BAGHDAD: The Iraqi parliament elected the candidate of a pro-Iran list as speaker on Saturday, paving the way for the formation of a government more than four months after legislative polls. The country has been in political paralysis since the May 12 ballot, but the election of a speaker is expected to solidify new parliamentary alliances. Iraq has a proportional system aimed at preventing a slide back into dictatorship following the 2003 ouster of Saddam Hussein. The lists elected during legislative polls must first form coalitions. The bloc with the most members appoints the prime minister and presides over the formation of the next government. The pro-Iran bloc led by Hadi Al Ameri’s Conquest Alliance − a coalition of anti-militant veterans close to Tehran − looked positioned to take the lead Saturday after the election of its candidate, Mohammed Al Halbusi. The new speaker was governor of the Sunni-majority province of Anbar, a key battleground in the war against the Daesh group, before his election to parliament on a local list in May. I’ve been doing a lot of reading today and I’m not hating everything.  Some of the news and promises sound similar to what we were reading before the elections. I just hope this group of politicians will deliver on those promises and not get sucked into more corruption and ripping off the wealth of Iraq like previous politicians.   Everything in Iraq is a process and they proceed very slowly.  Its just good to read that the election process is drawing to a conclusion.  

 

To be honest I could give a rip who is President and who is PM as long as those people put into power will elevate their country.  The people of America and it’s Allies liberated Iraq from a brutal dictator and it’s about time to deliver to the people of Iraq a liberated currency and a government that works for them.  It would be nice to see a rate increase that would benefit our soldiers who served in Iraq and the American tax payers.  (and people like us who invested in Iraq).  

 

Its Iraq and I’ve learned to be patient and see what happens next.
