-----------------------------------

Baghdad / Al-Masala: According to Arab newspapers Friday, September 14, 2018, that the former leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Barham Saleh, is the most likely to take over the post of president of Iraq.

The names of the eight candidates were subject to the terms of reference Sistani, which he put on the candidate for the post, including the former oil minister and former leader of the Supreme Islamic Council Adel Abdul Mahdi, the head of intelligence Mustafa al-Kazemi, and Abdul Wahab al-Saadi (one of the leaders of the anti-terrorism), and the governor of Basra happier Al-Aydani, the national security adviser, Faleh al-Fayadh, the leader of al-Fath, Ali Shukri, the former spokesman of Jaafari's government, Laith Kubba, and former minister Ali Allawi.

NRT

The head of the Tamdun parliamentary bloc, Sheikh Ali Ali, Friday, identified a problem in the nomination of former Supreme Council leader Adel Abdul Mahdi as prime minister in the next government.

"I have no objection to Adel's candidacy," he said in a tweet on September 14, 2018. "Besides being the son of Sayed Abdul-Mahdi al-Montafaji, he is a wonderful, knowledgeable, educated and respectable person, and I love him for the gentleness of his creation."

"But he has a very small problem, and he (Erman Tiam) resigns, and he is again betrayed by Indore to an arrogant prime minister. I do not know who Ya Zagor is telling him."

The political arena in Iraq is a wide movement among the winning forces to form the largest bloc in preparation for its mandate to form the next government, but the interactions and differences in the ceiling of demands and partisan interests prevented it.

UK Ambassador to Iraq Jon Wilks (Screenshot/Twitter/@ukineribil)

SULAIMANI — The United Kingdom’s ambassador to Iraq has released a statement saying that he has encouraged Kurdish parties to be proactive in their participation in the government formation in Baghdad.

In a video released on Twitter on Friday (September 14), Ambassador Jon Wilks said that he had been in Baghdad encouraging the parties and that, in particular, had encouraged the Kurds to be a “strong and united voice.”

“My message to all the political forces in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq was that we want the Kurdish voice to be strong and united and in the debate and negotiation now, as a primary voice not holding back as a secondary voice. We think this is going to be the best for Kurdish interests. We think this is going to be the best for Iraq as a whole because we want this government formation process to bring all Iraqis together,” Wilks said.

“There is a great demand, not just in Basra but across this country for jobs and services and for an improvement in the administration and for the tackling of corruption. It’s important that all Iraqi forces cooperate together to achieve these goals,” he added.

Relatedly, State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert side stepped questions when asked about the Trump administration’s view of the ongoing government formation process.

Asked if Abadi should end his candidacy for prime minister, as he appeared to be doing on Thursday during a press conference, Nauret said, “that’s something that we wouldn’t get involved with in calling for that at this time. That would be an internal Iraqi matter that the Iraqis would have to figure out.”

“We support Iraq’s democratic progress that they have made and their democratic process, recognizing that it is a sovereign government. We support Iraq’s efforts to form a moderate, sovereign Iraqi government pursuant to the constitutional timeline that’s responsive to the aspirations of the Iraqi people.”

Pressed further about the role that Kurdish parties ought to play given the number of seats that they control, she said “All Iraqis are important, and that’s why we talk about a sovereign Iraq and we think that Iraqis will be able to figure this out very well on their own.”

The political analyst Hazem al-Bawi, Friday, the most effective plan to form a government and the elimination of the current political crisis, indicating that the five Shiite parties sit on one table and on the side of a delegation of Sunnis and on the other side of a delegation of Kurds to choose the candidates of the three presidencies.

Al-Bawi said in a statement to Al-Maaloumah that "the plan of 5 + 2 is the most efficient, appropriate and appropriate to contain the crisis of choosing the next prime minister. The plan calls for the five Shiite parties to sit on one table and meet with a representative of the Sunnis and another of the Kurds."

He added that "the meeting of the delegations mentioned through the selection of three candidates by the Shiite side for the post of prime minister and are subject to the system of points of direct choice, and thus the appointment of one of the three and go to the dome of parliament to give him confidence after consulting the views of the Sunni and Kurdish delegations."

He explained that "the mechanism above is to shorten the factors of time and effort and other obstacles, as the process is subject to a national decision in which all parties exceed the dilemma of the Shiite agreement on a candidate to head the government, as well as jump to return to the House of the National Alliance through the meeting of the five parties and after the selection of one candidate Agreed upon by all seven parties. "

He stressed that "the method mentioned is more effective that all negotiations to form a larger bloc has hit the wall of hardness and no hope of the foreseeable future looming in the horizons of the talks announced and secret of a breakthrough leads to agreement on one block and then one candidate."End 25 n

Sadr warns of other option if his conditions not met

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The leader of the coalition that won the parliamentary elections in Iraq on Thursday warned that he would become the official opposition if parties reject his conditions to form a new government.

Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sairoon Coalition, in a statement claimed he had reached an agreement with Iraqi leaders to form the new Iraqi government.

“We have agreed with other Iraqi leaders to nominate a few technocrat and independent persons to the premiership position,” the influential Shia leader stated, saying that the decision is purely an Iraqi one.

Sadr revealed that the nominated person for the premiership position shall choose its ministers away from sectarian, ethnic and partisan divisions.

He stressed that electing the ministers should be through right and acceptable criteria in accordance to the expertise, skills and transparency.

Sadr noted that some politicians were quick to reject the project and reject the idea of independence and technocratic candidates, which would return Iraq to square one, where the corrupt would simply “wear new clothes,” with the same parties dominating state institutions.

“If they continue [on that path], I will declare opposition as my approach and method,” Sadr warned.

Sadr was leading an alliance that includes the fourth place-holder in the election, leader of al-Nasr Coalition, Haider al-Abadi, but after deadly protests in Basra, Sadr has come closer to the coalition led by Iran-backed al-Fatih’s Hadi al-Amiri.

%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B5%D8%AF%D8%B1-1.jpg

BAGHDAD - Shiite leader Moqtada al-Sadr announced on Thursday that senior Iraqi political leaders reached an agreement to choose an independent figure to head the new Iraqi government.

Sadr, who supports the Sason alliance, won the first place with 54 seats in the parliament out of 329 seats, following his meeting with his rival Hadi al-Ameri, head of the Fath Alliance, which includes the majority of popular factions, and second place, with 48 seats in parliament , And discussed the possibility of the coalition together to form a government.

Sadr said in a statement that "has been agreed with senior Iraqi to nominate several figures technocrats, independent prime minister, and a purely Iraqi decision, that the candidate chooses his ministers away from partisan divisions, sectarian and ethnic, but according to the standards are correct and acceptable, according to specialization and experience and integrity.

He added that "some of the politicians rushed to reject it, and rejected the idea of independence, and even the rejection of technocrats, to restore Iraq to the first box, so that the corrupt new dress, and the parties dominate the capabilities of the people and rights.

"If they continue to do so, I will announce my involvement and the opposition's approach and approach."Over the past years, the Shiites have been forming a unified coalition within parliament, giving them the required majority to form successive governments since the 2006 elections.

The governments formed according to a common practice known as "quotas", whereby the distribution of senior posts and ministries among the components of the country, where the Shiites occupy the presidency of the government, the year the presidency of parliament, and the Kurds presidency.

Sadr, however, refuses to form a government like the previous ones, to join the ranks of Shiite political forces for the first time. Sadr, along with current Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, formed a coalition of reform and reconstruction within parliament, while Amiri, along with Vice President Nuri al-Maliki, formed the building alliance.

The parties say they own the parliamentary majority, which has entered Iraq in a political crisis failed Parliament followed in the election of a president and two deputies, and postponed its first meeting, last week, to Saturday.

The lack of consensus between the Sunni blocs about a new speaker of the parliament that the next session may not witness the choice of the President of the Parliament, nor the Presidency, which will extend the term of the presidency, "President of the Year," Muhammad Ali Zinni, the oldest member, for future meetings.

The Sunni political blocs have been attracting and polarizing between Abadi and Nuri al-Maliki, who seems to have succeeded one day before the first session of the parliament in attracting many Sunni leaders to his class.

On the other hand, the Abadi team sought to convince Osama al-Nujaifi, the official chairman of the decision list of the Arab project headed by Al-Khanjar, to support Abadi, promising him to hand him the presidency of parliament if the matter succeeded.

Nujaifi had attended the house of Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the "wisdom stream" representative of the coalition of the decision, and signed the document to join the bloc of "reform and construction," but strangely that the dagger was present himself in a meeting simultaneously hosted by the house of Hadi Amiri, "He said.

A similar event took place with the representatives of the Iraqi coalition. Our representative Mohammed Karbouli attended the house of Hakim and signed the papers supporting Abbadi. But most of the Iraqi members of our identity, including the governor of Anbar, Mohammed al-Halbusi, Salah al-Din Ahmad al-Jubouri and others, , Announcing their accession to the "construction."

The Sunnis have been president of the parliament, the Kurds are the president of the republic, and the Shia have been prime ministers under the constitutional tradition of the country since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in 2003. The elections were held on May 12, but parliament ordered a recount manually after "serious violations" .

The new Iraqi parliament failed to elect a president during the first session, which was held on the third of this month, and was chaotic due to the widespread disagreement on the "parliamentary bloc the most numerous," which will be charged with forming a new government.

Observers attributed this political failure, in the selection of a speaker of parliament, to the accumulation of rising crises between parties, especially because of interventions from Iran and America.
