Special .. Maliki's coalition: Article 140 is the demand of many provinces

Baghdad

The leader of the coalition of the rule of law, headed by Nuri al-Maliki, on Monday, to be a specific vision of a real government program to end all differences in the state. "

"We are looking for a strong government program today, if this program is linked to the reality of the formation of the government and the choice of the next prime minister, according to what we aspire to in the coalition of the rule of law, the project of the political majority, which will end all problems away from Quotas, partnership, consensus and political turmoil. "

"If we do not have a strong and strong prime minister with a strong government program, the situation will remain the same after 2003 and until now," he said.

The former MP pointed out that "there are a lot of provinces called for the application of Article 140, which concerns the mixed areas in the central and southern or western and northern as the article is not limited to the Kurdistan region."

I think that "Article 140 is the demand of all provinces, if we have a government away from quotas and consensus will resolve the differences in general."

Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution provides for the normalization of the situation in the province of Kirkuk and the disputed areas in other provinces such as Nineveh and Diyala, and set a period of time ended on the thirty-first of December 2007 to implement all the provisions contained in the said procedure, and left the people of those areas freedom Self-determination whether by remaining an independent administrative unit or appended to the Kurdistan region of Iraq through the organization of a referendum, but several obstacles led to the delay of the implementation of some of the basic items in the article for reasons that politicians say the Kurds are political, while Baghdad says that the delay is not deliberate,

While the Kurds strongly support the implementation of Article 140 of the Constitution, a section of Arabs and Turkmen in Kirkuk and other areas opposed to their implementation, for fear of the possibility of annexing oil-rich province to the Kurdistan region, after accusing the Kurdish parties to bring hundreds of thousands of Kurdish population of the city to change its demographic identity, Saddam Hussein may also have brought hundreds of thousands of Arab residents in the seventies and eighties of the last century within the policy of Arabization, which applied in those areas at the time.

I stopped posting news a few years ago, and this media source, The Baghdad Post, was started just two years ago, so I am not familiar with it and its' bent. Anybody familiar with it? Is it a friend of Maliki that owns it? I can't even get onto the site, but that is probably on my end. Anybody else read the actual article?

Personally, I will reserve the accuracy of this headline until I can figure out the source. If I have learned one thing while on the IQD Ride, it is to save judgement on the news until you investigate the source, the actual process, and the political situation at the moment that would fuel news that is detrimental to the opposition or progress.

It looks like they seem to cover aspects of the news that I've seen other places.  They have articles referenced that say that the election results were to be announced this week from a few days ago which appears to be consistent with the general consensus of other media.  I have no concrete evidence of their credibility or lack there of.  I only know that previous articles look consistent with the direction of the general news.  Maybe this is a one-off political opinion or maybe they got the scoop early.  It's the first time I'd seen/heard that it might go until October so I thought I would put it out there and was actually hoping that someone else would be able tell me that it was not a credible article and that it should happen much sooner.

Here are the total contents of the article for @Carrello.  It is very short.  Enjoy.

Senior National Wisdom Movement Leader Fady Al Shamry said that the announcement of the manual recounting and sorting of parliamentary elections' votes and ratifying them by the High Electoral Commission (HEC) would take a month.

Shamry explained that the president would not be able to call on the parliament to hold its first session, which is supposed to be held within fifteen days from the date of the ratification of the general election results, as stated by the constitution, due to political disputes, adding that the first parliamentary session is most likely to be held in October.

The Parliamentary elections was marked by record low turnout. It was the first since Iraq declared victory over the ISIS group and the fourth since the 2003 US-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.
