Floridian
5-12-2018 Newshound Guru chattels Polls are open on Saturday, May 12 from 7am to 6pm across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region as voters elect a new parliament, the first election after ISIS. Al-Abadi is likely to win 60 seats in the parliamentary elections. ...Results within 48 hours they say... [If he wins 60 seats, will that give him a majority?] No sir. [So, he'll need to form a coalition?] Yes sir. [How long do you folks think it will take for Abadi to form a coalition?] There is no certainty that Abadi's coalition will be asked to form a government. The top individual list vote getter has never become PM in Iraq. It all depends upon the coalition(s) formed post election. Maliki's State Of Law Coalition lost out in 2014. Allawi lost out in 2008, etc 2
Pitcher
I believe he will win and form a government quickly. There is too much on the line to screw up the progress now. There will always be disgruntled losers but with the elections complete watch Iraq get things in order quickly (at least for them). It’s reconstruction time in Iraq!! And RV time!! 2 3
ChuckFinley
He has to move quickly. He needs to keep the momentum moving and Maliki out of the picture. 1
hspotman
What importance does a full GOI actually have for a rate increase? I remember 8 years ago, everyone in here was very excited when Maliki won the election because they thought a GOI meant RV! But here we are 8 years later and still nothing(rv-wise). 1

Its important to the CBI. Who was excited when Maliki won other than lying gurus who always spin anything that happens? The truth is Maliki was a goon and a thief, a puppet of Iran that wanted to keep Iraq poor and used Maliki to funnel vast amounts of assistance money to them and himself, he also never bothered to form an inclusive government which the world insisted that he should all the while trying to hold multiple positions in his own government in addition to PM, not to mention trying to strongarm Shabibi and the CBI into his own personal slush fund to the point he had the corrupt judiciary issue an arrest warrant for him. Shall I go on?

Is this the BS that the Guru/pumper above said? "The top individual list vote getter has never become PM in Iraq. It all depends upon the coalition(s) formed post election." Oh my! The Guru/pumper was right! See below: Reuters ‘IRAN OUT’ Sadr will not become prime minister as he did not run in the election but his apparent victory puts him in a position to pick someone for the job. Winning the largest number of seats does not automatically guarantee that, however. The other winning blocs would have to agree on the nomination.
