"The Security Council Committee on International Sanctions on Al-Qaeda and Al-Qaeda Organization has agreed to add a company and two Iraqis to the UN sanctions list for private individuals and entities to freeze financial assets," the official, who did not want to be identified, told AFP.

Accordingly, the listed list included Al-Kawthar Financial Broker and its owner Omar Mohammed Rahim Al-Kabsi, in addition to Salem Mustafa Mohammed Al-Mansour known as Salem Al-Afri, according to the same source. The security expert Hisham al-Hashemi told AFP that the two people were killed during the battles against jihadists in Iraq in 2016.

"The decision was issued under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter and through an ongoing Iraqi government effort to criminalize all leaders and gang members, calling on the terrorists, the companies and the people who finance them," the official said.

"Work is continuing to add the names of other individuals and companies to the list of UN sanctions," he said.Iraqi forces declared full victory over a pro-Syrian organization last December.
