If so, what's the point of having an election?

4-5-2018   Newshound Guru Kaperoni   Article:  "Maliki is seeking a third term amid disapproval of the Iraqi street"   Remember the elections are not choosing a PM.  In fact the elections are not choosing anyone.  Maliki on his second term stated it is not who wins or what block wins, but who can create the largest coalition of blocks after the election.  So yes, Maliki does have a chance.

It’s a parliamentary system, Floridian, very similar to what they have in the UK and Canada and various other Western democracies, and Kap is right about how it works. That said, recent polls have Abadi’s coalition gaining 78 seats to Maliki’s State Law coalition’s 19. Maliki doesn’t have nearly as many friends in the other blocs, either, so Abadi is very likely going to remain as PM.

Thanks, ReVbo, that's what I want to hear - that Abadi is very likely going to remain as PM.   Hope you are right!  :twothumbs:

Let me ask you something - Have you read Zul's response to "Explanation of 90-Day Rule" in the Rumors Section?  Can you read it and comment?

I would like to know if you agree with this.  Thanks.

I just hate the fact we are still dealing with this guy.

Evidence exists, Iran is backing Maliki & interfering with Iraq elections.

Maliki supports a weak IQD, currency auctions & ISIS to maintain control. He'll continue to transfer Iraq's wealth to Iran while keeping Iraq down.

Iran  & Russia has a lot riding on these elections.  Russia is also trying to reduce US influence in the region.

Abadi must give Iraqis a reason to re-elect him...the RV. If he fails to...he just committed political suicide. IMO.
