Jabouri cripples investigations against 7 corrupt ministers – MP

 

 

There are seven parliamentary investigation cases against incumbent corrupt minister that have been crippled by the Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri for political reasons, MP from the Parliamentary Services Commission Nazim al-Saedi said on Saturday.

Saedi said that these investigations aim to hold these ministers accountable for their corruption and do not aim to target any party or bloc, noting that at the end of the current parliament the ministers will be deposed automatically and their files will be handed to the Integrity Commission.

This comes as the State of Law Coalition Rasul Radi announced earlier that the ministers investigations file has been sabotaged, stressing that there are deals struck to end this file for good.

Lawmaker with State of the Law Coalition Alya Nassif on Saturday stingingly criticized premier Haider al-Abadi, accusing him of undermining measures aimed to expose corrupt figures.
She also added that the government is striking deals with the corrupt figures to protect them.
On the ministry of commerce, the lawmaker said it is plagued with corruption."We have filed dozens of lawsuits at the integrity commission and the attorney general to probe corruption files. But nothing was done and the corrupt figures were rather promoted."
Nassif said the parliament performed its duties by interrogating the corrupt officials. But there are deals struck between the political leaders and corrupt figures, which let them get away with their crimes.

Sadrist Imam denounces corrupt officials running for elections

Sadrist Imam Mohannad al Mossawi asserted that Iraq is witnessing deteriorated situation in all fields due to the spread of corruption, failure and destruction in the country.

 

During Friday's sermon, Mossawi noted that even corrupt figures are talking about the deteriorated situation in Iraq while calling for changing the situation and develop the country. This comes within their efforts to persuade the public that they are not the reason behind these problems and that they are aiming at solving problems facing them.

 

Mossawi urged Iraqi people not to listen to those corrupt people who are the reason behind the catastrophe facing the country and will never be the reason to develop and enhance it.

 

This comes ahead of the parliamentary elections planned to take place in Iraq on May 12.

 

Observers said that most of the politicians who were behind corruption and destruction that rocked Iraq in the past few years are running for the elections.

Voting forgery penalty to reach 15 years in prison

The Iraqi Higher Election Commission (IHEC) warned Friday from forging the elections by buying the electoral cards, saying that the penalty could reach 15-year imprisonment.

 IHEC spokesperson Karim al-Tamimi stated that the commission has taken strict steps to secure fair, transparent elections by issuing penalties against violators, such as withdrawing the permits of candidates and political coalitions and parties that proved to be involved in voting forgery, and to be referred to the court to be tried.

"The penalty of buying or selling the electoral card could reach spending 15 years in prison," al-Tamimi added.

Iraq is anticipating parliamentary election on May 12.

Agreed skeetdog, maybe he possibly is thinking if he can make it back to being PM he can change or avoid by payoffs or by using military power to put fear in anyone that stands up to him.

I see the article about

'Jabouri Crippling The Investigatoon Against 7 Corrupt lMinistets - MP',  and as usual, the text in the article appears a little hard to follow.  I find  many Iraqi to English translations  contain a 'double negative', but if Jabouri is in fact offering some form of protection to 'the former prime minister' then I hope his name is soon added to the list of 1000...

I am normally a kind person who would not make a joke about someone's illness , but she sold her country out big time  . I gotta go look up the definition of 'treason ' and 'high treason'

 Treason is a noun ,and is the crime of betraying one's country ,  ,......,giving aid and comfort to enemies,...,including giving government security secrets to other countries .    Under Article lll , Section lll  ,a person can levy war against the US without the use of military equipment .  Does Iraq have a similar  legal definition ?
