Middle East Online From Afrin to Manbaj, then Mosul and Jerusalem! ISTANBUL - The governor of Karsheer left for retirement after he announced that Turkish troops would soon travel to Mosul and even to Jerusalem, waving a sword with two blades, media reported on Thursday. Turkish troops and their Syrian opposition allies swept into the northern Syrian town of Afrin this week and raised their flags in the center of the town. They declared full control after an eight-week campaign to expel the Kurdish People's Protection Forces. Since the start of the military campaign, Afrin has seen a great deal of mobilization in the media and mosques in the country, which opposes a large sector of its citizens attacking the Kurdish enclave. Government-appointed Njati Centork, governor of Karsheir in central Turkey, was surprised by a speech he made from his office balcony over the weekend as Turkish troops prepared to enter the city of Afrin, where Kurdish forces had withdrawn, in northern Syria. "We will take Afrin, and we will take Manbaj," he said in a video posted on Turkish news websites, the other Kurdish city in northwestern Syria. "We will also go to Mosul, and we will go to Jerusalem, God is greater," he said, waving a sword known as Zulfiqar with one hand and carrying a loudspeaker. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly vowed that Turkey's campaign will not stop at Afrin, but will be completed to other areas controlled by the Kurds to the city of Qamishli. The Ottomans ruled the Iraqi city of Mosul and Jerusalem for centuries. The falconer is a two-headed sword used at the beginning of Islamic conquests, and it is said that the Prophet Mohammed gave it to his cousin Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib. It was not known whether the governor, who took office for three and a half years, was under pressure after his speech. But Njati Centork said he was not sorry. "They are entering where they are told not to enter, I do not regret it," he told the Dugan news agency. "Everything has an end, when a man reaches the top, he has to know when he is going down," he said. Ankara classifies units to protect the Kurdish people as a "terrorist" group and considers it a branch of the PKK, which has been leading a rebellion against it for decades.
