A former senior staffer in the Obama administration went nuclear during a recent interview on MSNBC,

calling President Trump a ‘tribal leader’ who only represents ‘less educated’ older men.

Richard Stengel, the former Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy, was speaking with MSNBC’s Willie Geist while promoting his new book commemorating the 100^th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth; telling the host what he thinks the South African hero would have thought of the President.

“I’ll tell you what people don’t realize. Obviously, he wouldn’t be a fan of Donald Trump and he would see him as a reincarnation of those Boorish Apartheid Leaders who were ethnic nationalists, who only governed for their own people,” said Stengel.

“He would also see Trump through this lens of tribalism,” he added. “Trump is a tribal leader of a white nation of people who are a little less educated, making less income, older men. That’s his tribe and that’s who he represents.”

“There’s a rise of ethnic nationalism, ethnic authoritarians around the world, and Mandela would see Trump as an example of that,” said the former Obama official.
