Sorry I disagree... Small America where you could go to locally owned stores at plazas, downtown, etc., died because Wal-Mart under sold them. People wanted cheap crap even if they saved a whopping 10%. Then they wonder why their nice towns are boarded up. Do you know how many people have said to me "I hate shopping at Wal-Mart. Their people don't know anything and their service sucks" But that's where they shop because they can buy their dog food for $7.99 instead of $8.85...

Sorry to disagree.....but sears, Montgomery wards, Kmart, Eckerds, Winn Dixie, Pigly Wigley....etc were on the downhill slide long before Walmart made their impact. Question....why do folks single out Walmart? Anyone ever heard of Costco, or BJ's? Same business model...just not as successful as Walmart.

Trump is the legally elected President of the United States of America.....It would be nice if those opposed to that would let him govern.  None of the BS spewed here matters.......He has a number of years to go.......unless you are falling for all the US MSM garbage seen on local television in America......JMO...

I agree Trump was legally elected, but New York Kevin stated that Majority rules... It doesn't, that was my point...

Wal-Mart killed small hometown businesses.. But the internet is killing the rest. As for BJs that is Wal-Mart.... And the weird thing is, Wal-Mart is failing as well... The stores are always low on inventory and they try to drive customers to their website, but they are too big and you will see them shutdown many stores. A lot of Wal-Marts are put in areas with huge tax breaks, when those tax breaks expire, many stores will close...

You call me an elitist... That is completely made up... Just look at my checkbook and you would know that!!! LOL

Seriously, I bring in news articles and you and your cronies deny facts and call it fake news. Is it fake that our president paid off a porn star? If it was fake he wouldn't be suing her because she broke their agreement. If it wasn't true he might sue for slander, etc.. Is it fake when he said he can grab women because he is a star? I guess that was Rich Little impersonating him. Is it fake that he said he made stuff up when talking to the Prime Minister of Canada? I guess that was CGI of him I saw on television. Does he constantly get caught lying? It is fake if you are a member of his Cult of Personality.

So u base ur entire argument on a 3 year trend?....mine was based off ur intial statement that goes back 20 years. But yes based on ur 3 year study Walmart net has gone down. Funny I gave you 5 examples of other companies...u failed to respond to those. Why do u hate Walmart so?

When I moved to the south from the north I had never heard of Wal-Mart. That was in the 80s. Then Wal-Mart exploded and became king of the hill. There is no doubt they hurt other businesses by undercutting prices. Americans wanted cheap stuff. When Sam Walton opened Wal-Mart it was all about selling American products. When he died and the corporation took over his way went away. That's when Wal-Mart took off... Selling cheap imported stuff.

It is a trend... You went back 20 years. Things change. 20 years ago Toyota didn't out sell American cars. So 20 years ago Wal-Mart was it. Heck 5 years ago it was all about Wal-Mart, but the trends say it is changing. Think how things are changing. 10 years ago no one ever thought newspapers would go away. Not many people buy them any more. 5 years ago Uber didn't exist, now they out performing taxi companies. 5 years ago we could not have imagined there would be self driving cars, in 5 years they will be everywhere.

The trends say Wal-Mart is losing it's place. Have you gone shopping in a store lately... I know many people who do not go to stores. Of course I'm old so I still like to try on my shoes before I buy them.

As for the other retailers you mentioned, Piggly Wiggly, we still have them here. Winn Dixie was bought out and their stores remain, they just have a different name. Eckerd's was sold, just like Rite-Aid is going to be. Gobbled up by a competitor. Kmart was bought by Sears, so again Sears ran it in to the ground. Sears failed to change and has died. Is it their fault. Did Wal-Mart hurt them I would say yes to both questions. Why did Toy R Us just collapse? Yes they had huge debt, but if the internet didn't exist they would have survived. That's why Wal-Mart, Target and most of the other brick and mortar stores are in trouble. Think of all the malls that are going to go down, because of online shopping... We are only seeing the beginning.

Wal-Mart only kills the small towns of America that take no pride in shopping locally....I've seen it both ways and Mom and Pop shops can co-exist with the big box stores with the help of loyal customers.

Yup, I always make a point to shop local... It's in my best interest...

No doubt about it, Walmart put a lot of mom and pop stores out of business but it’s not the only reason small towns are going the way of the cuckoo bird.  I lived in a small town and most of the kids couldn’t wait to graduate from HS and bolt for the big city.  There just isn’t a lot of opportunity in small town USA.  Also many of those mom and pops were selling products way over a fair price.

It's called capitalism................everything u mentioned has been going on for decades in all types of business. Funeral homes, banks, car dealerships, drug stores, grocery stores, law firms, home improvement stores.....etc. Again why the furor over WALMART? To answer ur question...I go to Walmart once a week. The only thing they DON'T have that I like....is variety on things I like in the grocery category.
