I just had another thought.

With 85% of the people in Iraq not having bank accounts because they don't trust the banks, who's going to buy shares in Warka?  If they don't trust the banks enough to deposit their money, they are not going to invest in the bank shares.

Maybe they are looking to the Americans, who have Warka accounts, to buy the shares.

Many banks in Iraq are listed on the ISX........Warka used to sell ISX shares for all companies listed on the ISX.......this link will take you to a current list......Warka has been out of the ISX business for a while.....

Warka was previously a listed stock before they were suspended........I believe the stock was at 1.18 at that point in time.......BWAI.... as I recall....you could google it...

What is BWAI?

Dinar

and as an example Bank of Baghdad is BBOB on the exchange

BWAI on the exchange..........was Warka Bank when it was listed

Montana' original thought process was 3 pronged.....

Physical Currency

Iraq Bank Account

ISX Stock Exchange Holdings

The thought on the last 2 was there is always a possibility for an in country only Revaluation........physical currency holders outside of the country would be left out.....

but........a bank account held in Iraq, and/or Stocks held.........would help assure that out of country investors could be a part of any increase in currency value for Iraq.

Thanks, Coorslite21.

I see that all my thinking on this subject was wrong.  So a "one dinar per share" of Warka Bank stock means nothing, as far as RV goes.

Back to the drawing board!

Not positive what you are thinking.......but as I read what DT posted....this offering would only be good if you have a Warka account and wanted to convert some of those IQD holdings in that account to Warka stock shares........it appears Warka is in the process of being listed again on the ISX.....

At that point you could probably purchase some......through the brokerage firms in Iraq.

I will say the history......(if you take time to research it)........is pretty sorted for the ownership, and dealings of that family, of this private bank.....

I always figured that Warka investors would be made whole........to much military involvement for the USG to let them all get screwed.......JMO.....CL

At the heart of Baghdad's second-hand goods market, nostalgia for the past in Iraq appears to be full of collectors, investors and buyers of antiques belonging to the monarchy in Iraq.

"In the spoiled Khan cafe, about 100 men from all over the country are following closely the four-decade antiques auction of the monarchy in Iraq, which ended in a bloody coup in 1958," a report by Digital Journal reported.

"There is a feeling of nostalgia among customers," said one investor, Ali Hikmat, 52. "They know, for example, the currency, manufacturing and quality of money that were much better before, and that's why prices are so high."

"The auction begins with a man with a high voice on the goods that include banknotes, coins, stamps and decorations mostly due to the Royal era of Iraq, but beside it some of the composers dating back to the first days of the republic that followed the monarchy after being overthrown by the leader Abdul Karim Qasim, While there are no holdings of decades of dictatorship under Saddam Hussein. "

"For Iraqis who hunt down special souvenirs from the past, they consider the monarchy to be their country's golden age. The establishment of the Kingdom of Iraq under Faisal I, who fought alongside TE Lawrence during the First World War, was a sign of the emergence of the modern state. Iraq after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. "

"Of course, we are nostalgic for the royal period. All the country's main structures were built during this period from bridges to dams," said Ahmed Kamal, a 53-year-old curator. "The royal period is the beginning of the Iraqi state and much better than what we see. Today ".

"Iraq under constitutional monarchy was more fair and democratic than the present time," said Saad Mohsen, a professor of modern history at Baghdad University. "We were far from the blood and fighting we knew."

"The desire for things that go back to the monarchy does not mean that the Iraqis are looking to restore this regime again, but the nostalgia for these relics seems to be linked more to financial gain than historical or political interest," the report said. If I'm not mistaken . Last week in the articles involving the10% HCL payment to the citizens. They said they would begin the accounts for all citizens for their HCL payment ....? They are not waiting on them to come in an open an account it would seem. I would guess the census would help with this

This news could not be better . It would be  impossible to accomplish  as the dinar stands . I laugh at the physical logistics as I explore them mentally ,then my head starts to spin.  So 317 billion { dinar or US $ ? } equals 12%  ,so  roughly 88%  would come out to over 2 trilion . With 33 million iraqi citizens ,that's not bad . The percentage may have been based on population  ,fair and square  .
