Asking for DV Prayer Warriors again

I'd like to ask the DV prayer warriors for their help again.  You might remember my posting about my 20 YO daughter earlier.  She has had some serious challenges and has faced them with amazing fortitude and grace.  We are facing another challenge.

She has been on a G/J tube for  nutritional feeding for over a year. We were hoping and praying that by resting her system her stomach would resolve the gastroparesis issue. Her stomach just would not digest food - even though it is producing plenty of acid (too much in fact) and was stable and doing OK. She is going to college and leading as normal a life as possible with having to carry a backpack with a small food pump with her at all times.

However, something new has happened in the last week. She started experiencing extreme abdominal pain when feeding, and even when she slowed the rate to 20 ML/hour with just water ( that's about 3/4 of an ounce an hour) she was still experiencing pain.  We went to the ER and they gave her an IV to help with the dehydration. We were waiting on a call from her GI doctor to see what we could do. Unfortunately, this weekend her usual GI was not the one on call, and is actually in another town 115 miles from us. we are trying to get her int to see a GI specialist here, but he is scheduled out for almost 2 months - we were able to get an appointment in about a month about a week ago (just before this happened) only because her current GI was able to push the issue a bit.

They started her on a course of Augmentin - because that can cause bowel contractions - 72 hours and another IV infusion later - no change - and looks like we are going back to the ER for another infusion for dehydration today.  I will admit that as a father I'm frustrated and scared.  I'm trying hard to take to heart the words of Saint Padre Pio "Pray, hope and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer." It's tough - and I admit to failing in the "don't worry" department.

Prayers for Mandy would be greatly appreciated.

Lord, look upon Mandy  with eyes of mercy, may your healing hand rest upon her , may your lifegiving powers flow into every cell of her body and into the depths of her soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring her  to wholeness and strength for service in your Kingdom. Amen.

On bended knee, Tank....Prayers Up.  Mandy's a real trooper to carry on as normal a life as possible while dealing with such a difficult physical task.....I only know you, so to say she takes after her daddy, seems like a given.  You're certainly the man for the job.  All my best to you and your family in these difficult times.

Jehovah Rapha - The Lord My/Our Healer,  We speak to the entire digestive system of Tankdude's daughter Mandy in the name of Jesus Christ and we command health to her entire digestive system. We speak in the name of Jesus for peristalsis  to return to her upper and lower intestines and for all blockages to moisten up and safely pass as you designed them to. We pray for the ability of nutrients to be absorbed through ever centimeter of intestine, and along the entire digestive track. We pray life and a return of function to any section(s) of necrotic tissue in the small and large intestine. We pray for proper functioning of all nerves associated with her digestive system. We command all sphincters to function normally as they should. We ask you Father God to allow her the ability  to consume and process normal foods in a normal way. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen.

Thank you all. Been in the ER for about 6 hours now. Waiting in a resident GI to write orders to admit her. Its just after midnight here and its been a long day. She is comfortable thanks to some Zofram and Dilaudid and is at least napping.  Will keep you informed as we go. God bless you all for your healing intentions.

Tankdude, I am so sorry to hear of this my friend and sending you best wishes for a speedy

recovery for Mandy. It is exhausting watching someone struggling in this manner,

especially someone you love and adore. I do understand that...

Thank you for bringing this to the board, and for the opportunity to be united and focused

upon seeing Mandy regain her strength and health. :)

This was ridiculous.  The ER was told by her GI Practioner that she was having her come in to be admitted.  I understand they had to process her through there because he GI didn't have practice rights at this hospital, but almost 9 hours is not acceptable in my book.  Came in at 7 pm and we were finally in a room at 3:30 AM.  Mandy was at a level 7 for pain for almost 2 hours before she was seen by a provider and was finally given something for pain and nausea.  Then we waited on an ultrasound tech - and the last straw was having to wait for the hospitalist to sign her in...and that was over 2 hours after the ultrasound.

On on the plus side - IV fluids and antibiotics have her in less pain and nausea. They are continuing those...

On the minus side -the resident GI at the hospital is so swamped he may not be able to see her today.  His PA came in this morning and scheduled a few  more tests, but the would like to do an Endoscopy which he won't be able to do until tomorrow.

If we were in a truly rural area, I'd kind of expect this...but this is the state capital and about 50,000 people. Not huge by any means but not that small either.

ok - rant over. Thank you for allowing me to vent.  It feels like family here - in many ways.

Again - thank you for the prayers.

Omnipotent and eternal God, the everlasting Salvation of those who believe, hear us on behalf of Thy sick servant, Mandy, for whom we beg the aid of Thy pitying mercy, that, with her bodily health restored, she may give thanks to Thee in Thy church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

I came to grips with maintianing my cool in situations that are beyond my control.....but smacking the first indignant flat foot that walks by in these type of scenarios would probably feel incredible, though fleeting.  Hang in there, Tank.....thank goodness Mandy was able to get a little something for the pain.  Giving thanks to God for the little things, my friend.
