This U.S. city just made marijuana history

Perhaps not surprisingly, Colorado also houses what's believed to be the first city in the U.S. to sell more marijuana over the course of a year than alcohol. As reported by the Aspen Times, licensed vendors in posh ski resort town Aspen, Colorado, wound up selling a combined $11.3 million in pot in 2017, compared to just $10.5 million for liquor stores (keep in mind, this doesn't account for the alcohol sold in restaurants and bars).

The data, which was culled from the Aspen Finance Department's year-end sales tax report for 2017, showed that cannabis sales grew by 16% from the prior year and enjoyed the quickest growth rate of any of Aspen's 12 retail sectors. Admittedly, though, it remains a small player in Aspen's $730 million retail industry. Said Matt Kind, a Boulder businessman and host of the CannaInsider podcast

Yes, and all the accusations of what would happen IF cannabis was legalized was all BS.

Unemployment in some of those areas are at their lowest the last 3 years, no need to "stimulate"

their economy in Colorado...they did it themselves by doing the right thing.

Add to this, many folks are able to now get off of taking opioids and opiates for pain relief,

this is huge, and yet does anyone hear of these success stories? Big pharma is not happy about

these things...cannabis is taking money out of their pockets and government ALWAYS protects

their pharma money interests and lobbyists.

After 80 years of being demonized, people are finally waking up to the fact of how useful hemp,

cannabis truly is...and who were the ones demonizing it all these decades?

Textile firms, religious nuts, and pharma companies just to name a few, and in the process, taking away

actual cures for disease from the people. Cannabis has been proven effective in epilepsy, cancer,

pain relief, diabetic problems, psychosis, neurosis, not to mention CBD oil "cannabidiol" that the

human body actually has receptors for CBD and its derivatives.

We have been fooled by those in "authority", who are more intersted in protecting their own self interests

and care not for helping people with a plant that can cloth them, heal them, create building material stronger

than most, one acre of hemp can provide more paper products than 4 acres of trees, and it can return farmers

back to making a profit by hemp farming, etc.

Does anyone remember when farmers were forced to farm hemp back in the very early 1900's? Most do not,

because it was pushed aside by big money interests and we all believed the propaganda, until we found out we

were lied to AGAIN.

Yup hemp which really is nothing like marijuana was brought down by Hearst and Dow Chemical.... So they linked it to marijuana, created Reefer Madness and put the hemp business out of business in America... There is a video online where Henry Ford is bashing a car body with a hammer he made with hemp and the body doesn't dent.. The government has done their farmers a disservice by banning hemp. We are the only industrialized nation in the world not growing hemp. It has a tremendous number of uses including replenishing the ground for farmers. And it won't get you high... All so Hearst could keep making paper products out of trees and Dow could made synthetic fabric....
