Congressional lawmakers harshly rejected President Trump’s official immigration plan Thursday, voting down the Commander-in-Chief’s proposed legislation that would have provided a pathway to citizenship for nearly two million ‘Dreamers’ while securing funding for his border wall and restricting legal immigration levels.

The bill was introduced by Sen. Chuck Grassley and was modeled after President Trump’s proposed immigration guidelines, but was rejected by a vast majority of US Senators.

The final tally was a lopsided 39-60; over 20 votes shy of obtaining the 60-vote threshold required to pass legislation in the Senate. The bill was rejected on both sides of the political aisle, with Democrats refusing to fund Trump’s proposed border wall and Republicans unhappy with the “pathway to citizenship.”

“But the rejection of the president’s plan was bipartisan: Democrats refused its get-tough approach to legal immigration, while many conservative Republicans opposed its pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million young immigrants brought to the country illegally as children,” writes the New York Times.

Two-other immigration bills also failed to receive the 60-vote majority on Thursday, raising new questions over the fate of approximately 1.8 million ‘Dreamers’ when the Obama-era DACA program officially ends March 5th.

The President has repeatedly claimed there can be “no deal” on DACA without fully funding his proposed southern border wall.

Donald probably should have let the process work it's way out rather than say...."It's my way, or the highway".  The March 5th deadline is his deadline.  He'll have to own it, along with any perks or devastation that comes with it.  If he ends DACA it should create a pretty reliable benchmark for how Americans really feel about immigration.....and I'm talking all Americans, his base and those opposed to his views.  As always, just my opinion.
