security source said on Friday that the security forces began to cut off some of the roads leading to Tahrir Square in central Baghdad, while strict measures imposed to coincide with a demonstration planned launch this afternoon. 

The source said in an interview with Alsumaria News, "The security forces imposed, this afternoon, tight security measures and began to close some roads leading to Tahrir Square downtown Baghdad." 

The source, who asked not to be named, said that "the closure of the roads comes as a security precaution in conjunction with a demonstration in Tahrir Square, which is planned to launch at the end of the hour." "He said.

 

 



The capital Baghdad has been witnessing weekly and since August 2015, demonstrations in protest against rampant corruption in government institutions, and to hold accountable officials accused of corruption and the implementation of government reforms.

Hundreds of citizens demonstrated on Friday (February 2nd) in Tahrir Square in central Baghdad to demand reform and eliminate corruption in the country. Security forces closed roads leading to the square and imposed tight security measures.

 

Hundreds of citizens demonstrated in Tahrir Square in the center of the capital Baghdad and raised banners calling on all government institutions to stamp out rampant corruption and chanting slogans calling for reform.

 

While security forces closed the roads and bridges leading to the site of demonstrations in Tahrir Square, and released tight security measures.

 

Baghdad has been witnessing weekly since 2015, demonstrations in protest against rampant corruption in government institutions, and to hold accountable officials accused of corruption and the implementation of government reforms.
