Iraqi forces will announce the end of military operations against the organization "Daash" during a military parade, next Saturday, according to a senior security source told the agency "Sputnik."

Baghdad - Sputnik. The source revealed that "a review of the Iraqi forces represented by the federal police, the army, and" popular crowd "on Saturday, will be during the review announced the end of military operations against" Daash "and the victory over the terrorist organization.

In November, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the defeat of Saddam Hussein in Iraq, but the final victory would be announced after the desert of the island between the provinces of Anbar, Ninewa and Salahuddin was cleared of the remnants of the organization.

And occupied "Daash" large areas of Iraq and Syria in 2014, announcing from Mosul, during a speech to his leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the establishment of "Islamic succession."

Iraqi forces, without an international coalition led by the United States, have launched a military operation since then that has resulted in the liberation of strongholds in Iraq, the latest of which is the city of Rawa, west of Anbar.

The war has left thousands of dead and millions of refugees inside and outside Iraq "begging".

BAGHDAD - Iraqi forces on Friday resumed military operations in the framework of the second phase of the Western Sahara's cleansing of the remnants of the Islamic state organization, as Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi prepares to declare the "liberation" of all Iraqi soil.

The commander of the disinfection operations of the island and the Upper Euphrates, Major General Abdul Amir Rasheed Yarallah said in a statement that the army and the popular mobilization forces "embarked on a large-scale clearance of the island areas between Nineveh and Anbar within the second phase" of operations.

The operation is aimed at bringing forces together in the desert between the northern province of Nineveh and the western Anbar province, on a 200-square-kilometer road parallel to Syria.

For its part, confirmed the popular mobilization factions start operations "to complete the liberation of the desert island linking Mosul and Anbar to the Syrian border."

On 27 November, Joint Operations Command spokesman Brigadier Yehia Rasool announced that Iraqi forces had "cleared 50 per cent of the total area of 29,000 square kilometers."

On Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macaron predicted that the Iraqi government would announce the country's "total liberation" from the Islamic state by mid-month.

"Even if major efforts continue to advance the country, disarmament and mines, the country will be liberated before the end of the year and I hope to see in the coming months a military victory in the Iraqi-Syrian region," McCron said.

Russia said on Thursday that Syrian territory had been "completely liberated" from the organization of the Islamic state, although it still controls a number of pockets in the country.

In this process, Iraq is culminating in its continuous attack since 17 October 2016 against the jihadist strongholds, from Mosul, which took nine months of bloody fighting, to Tal Afar and Hawija to the north, to Anbar in the west of the country.

In 2014, the Organization of the Islamic State launched a large-scale attack, which captured about one third of the area of Iraq and about half of the area of neighboring Syria and declared "succession" in both countries. But since then, the organization has lost most of the territory it controls.

The terrorist organization lost the territory it had occupied since 2014, which was estimated at one-third of Iraq's territory, following continuous military campaigns launched by Iraqi forces over the past three years with support from the US-led coalition.

Baghdad - Mawazine News

French President Emmanuel Macaron said on Thursday that the Iraqi government would announce the "full liberation" of the country from a hasty organization by the middle of this month.

"Even if major efforts continue to advance the country, disarm and mine, the country will be restored before the end of the year," McCron told a joint press conference with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in Doha and his Mawazine News.

"We hope that in the coming months we will see a military victory in the Iraqi-Syrian region," he said. "After that, peace in Syria should be built to avoid splitting the country or dominating regional powers."

Macron visited the US base at 30 kilometers southwest of Doha, where he was briefed by the US military on information about combating extremist Islamic organizations. The president met with the French forces stationed at the base, some about 30 members.

Iraqi commander says his country's war against IS has ended

BAGHDAD –  A senior Iraqi military commander says his country's war against the Islamic State group is over.

In an announcement Saturday, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Amir Rasheed Yar Allah says combat operations against the extremists have concluded after Iraqi forces retook control of the country's border with Syria.

The statement says "all Iraqi lands are liberated from terrorist Daesh gangs and our forces completely control the international Iraqi-Syrian borders." Daesh is an Arabic acronym for IS.

IS fighters overran nearly a third of Iraqi territory, including Mosul, the country's second largest city, in the summer of 2014.

Over the past three and a half years, Iraqi ground forces closely backed by the U.S.-led coalition have retaken all the territory once held by extremists, but the group remains capable of carrying out insurgent attacks.

Just heard on Fox news that Iraq has been liberated.  I started thinking and went back to find a timeline of when the US first went into Iraq. Saddam's statue was taken down in March 2003.

that's not counting the first set of conflicts which started in 1990 with Dessert Storm to Operation Iraq Freedom in 2003. Three Presidents later we finally reached a state of liberation.  I am sure there are a few loose ends to clear and clean up. I can't wait!!

Iraq declares war with Islamic State is over

Iraqi pro-government forces as they captured Rawa from IS last monthImage copyrightAFP Image captionIraqi pro-government forces as they captured Rawa from IS last month

Iraq has announced that its war against so-called Islamic State is over.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi told a conference in Baghdad that Iraqi troops were now in complete control of the Iraqi-Syrian border.

The border zone contained the last few areas IS held, following its loss of the town of Rawa in November.

The Iraqi announcement comes two days after the Russian military declared it had accomplished its mission of defeating IS in neighbouring Syria.

The jihadist group had seized large swathes of Syria and Iraq in 2014, when it proclaimed a "caliphate" and imposed its rule over some 10 million people.

But it suffered a series of defeats over the past two years, losing Iraq's second city of Mosul this July and its de facto capital of Raqqa in northern Syria last month.

Some IS fighters are reported to have dispersed into the Syrian countryside, while others are believed to have escaped across the Turkish border.

A battle unfinished

By Sebastian Usher, BBC Arab affairs editor

This is undeniably a proud moment for Mr Abadi - a victory that once looked like it might only ever be rhetorical rather than real.

But if the direct military war with IS in Iraq is genuinely over, and the country's elite forces can now step back after a conflict that's taken a huge toll on them, it doesn't mean the battle against the group's ideology or its ability to stage an insurgency is finished - whether in Iraq, Syria or the wider world.

Attacks may be at a lower level than they once were, but Iraqi towns and cities still fall prey to suicide bombers, while the conditions that fuelled the growth of jihadism remain - even in the territory that's been recaptured.

Mr Abadi said on Saturday: "Our forces are in complete control of the Iraqi-Syrian border and I therefore announce the end of the war against Daesh [IS].

"Our enemy wanted to kill our civilisation, but we have won through our unity and our determination. We have triumphed in little time."

The Iraqi armed forces issued a statement saying Iraq had been "totally liberated" from IS.

Last month, the Syrian military said it had "fully liberated" the eastern border town of Albu Kamal, IS's last urban stronghold in that country.

On Thursday, the head of the Russian general staff's operations, Col-Gen Sergei Rudskoi, said: "The mission to defeat bandit units of the Islamic State terrorist organisation on the territory of Syria, carried out by the armed forces of the Russian Federation, has been accomplished."

He said Russia's military presence in Syria would now concentrate on preserving ceasefires and restoring peace.

The collapse of IS has raised fears that its foreign fighters will escape over Syria's borders to carry out more attacks abroad.
