DinarThug
Comment By Don961 ... Maliki got rid of DRS because he refused to go along and insisted on being independent ... no doubt M and his minions have reaped huge wealth by having their man at the helm of the CBI ... Many GOI members and others in leadership either own banks /money changers / import companies ... or have an affiliation with them ... so manipulating the currency auction became an art form to see who could pilfer the most .... Alak says they need the auctions to provide USDs to do commerce with other countries and businesses outside Iraq .. to pay for imports ... during M's time , Iraq's agriculture , industry , and businesses were stifled .. why ? .... because even though Iraqis desperately needed work and are perfectly capable of producing superior products for themselves , he preferred importing food ,building materials and other goods from Iran and others outside Iraq ... often inferior goods were dumped on Iraq or even fake invoices were created that delivered nothing of value ... fake or bogus companies were set up to bleed currency from the CBI .... was/is Alak complicit with all this ? ... don't know .. but he was appointed by Maliki ... we'll have to see how rapidly this all gets sorted out in Abadi's war on corruption ... imo from many articles posted from the Iraqi press

3n1
So is this economic expert Salam Samisem simply just stating a fact about why shabs was run off and that al-alak (keywords) time is done and they are fixing to get a new cbi gov. > , if so sure hoping abadi appoints someone that has real financial credentials and wisdom now .. Iraq will never be better than those that lead it... Don961 comments aren't half bad either .. heres hoping ,thanks yota
nannab
Yes 3n1 Shabibi had to leave because he would not allow Malarki and others to control the CBI. It would be great for him to come back but he is up there in age. Who knows?
NEPatriotsFan1
My guess is that Shabbibi was and has remained well respected, and is most likely advising from behind the scenes with the current CBI governor. That's at least what I've been hoping for some time.
