Thanks for the eagle eye, Synopsis. I think the lower left hand corner denomination is really confusing because I don't see it as 100, but 1,00. There is a comma after the one and only two zeroes. Is this a common Arabic thing, possibly? Did Cheap just make a mistake? Or am I just missing something?

Their commas are usually periods here. Maybe It's a 1 Iraqi note.

That denotation has been there for a few months for as long as I have been checking the site and the note does appear to be a typical current 1,000 Iraqi Dinar note.

MOSSAN, Iraq - August 22: The Rafidain Operations Command announced on Wednesday the implementation of a special security plan to thwart the introduction of counterfeit currency into the local market within the responsibility sector through the work of the various intelligence agencies in the follow-up of any information on this matter.

"The provinces of Maysan, Dhi Qar, Muthanna and Wasit have not registered any counterfeit currency so far, while security teams and intelligence cells continue to monitor any suspected cases in order to deal with them," Major General Ali Daboun said.

 

The Directorate of Baghdad inspection in the Office of the Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior, announced earlier seizure of a gang of three people specializing in the forgery and sale of the Iraqi currency. 

 

The inspector general's office pointed out that "the control operation took place in the Nahda area of Baghdad after the ambush and luring the gang by the Detachment squad of the famous crime, headed by the director of the inspection of Baghdad, and resulted in the seizure of the gang wearing the crime of selling 10 million Iraqi dinars forged category (25) "A thousand dinars," referring to "the organization of a record of the seizure of fundamentalists and record the statements of the accused and presented before the eyes of the investigating judge of the court Rusafa Khafer, who decided to arrest them on the case for investigation in order to reveal the threads involved in targeting the Iraqi economy."

A reporter for the Higher Judiciary Council said Tuesday that the Bayaa court had confessed to falsifying the local currency and the US dollar and selling it to citizens in Baghdad. Finished

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - An Iraqi military commander said on Wednesday his forces had launched a security and intelligence operation to block attempts to smuggle counterfeit currency to the south of the country .

The commander of operations Rafidain, Major General Ali Daaboul said in a press statement on August 22, 2018 that "has been the implementation of a security plan, especially for the pursuit of attempts to introduce counterfeit currency to the local market in the provinces of Maysan, Dhi Qar, Muthanna and Wasit," according to the agency Anatolia.

"Security teams and intelligence cells continue to follow up on any suspected cases in order to deal with them in security, " he said.

Over the past few days, Iraqi security forces at Iraqi border crossings have seized fake Iraqi coins that people have tried to bring into the country from Iran .

An Interior Ministry officer told Anadol, asking not to be named because he was not authorized to issue a statement to the media, that "the border crossings have received orders to inspect thoroughly to thwart any attempt to introduce counterfeit currency from neighboring countries ."

He added that "security forces seized during the past few days counterfeit Iraqi currency in the port of Shalamjah border with Iran, was confiscated and arrested involved in bringing the amounts of money," without specifying the value .

Iraq has four land ports with Iran: Zurbatiya in Wasit, Shalamjah in Basra, Manziriyah in Diyala and Shib in Maysan .

BAGHDAD - The Baghdad police command announced on Wednesday that it was able to arrest two foreigners on charges of counterfeiting Iraqi and foreign currency.

She pointed out that "the detachments of the Saadoun police station arrested two suspects, two foreigners, one of them holds financial nationality and the other Nigerian are forging a number of foreign and Iraqi currencies." She pointed out that "seized the printing press and accessories of the possession of the accused, confirming that they take legal action against them."

"  He added that "the bank continues to receive local currencies damaged by citizens and replace them with new currencies," revealing at the same time, "the existence of a specialized committee to examine the damaged papers to ensure the integrity of fraud   and manipulation."
