Abadi to America and Iran: Do not transfer your problems to Iraq

 Journal  October 25, 2017

Baghdad - Journal News

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi called on the United States and Iran not to drag Iraq into differences, stressing that his country seeks to continue cooperation with both countries.

"What we assure all, including our Iranian neighbors, as well as the United States, who have become friends with us through our support to fight against Saddam, is that we welcome your support, and we would like to work with you," Abbadi said in an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. , But please do not transfer your problems to Iraq. "

"Imposing anything on us is absolutely unacceptable," he said.

Turning to the issue of the Iraqi-Turkish border in light of the current tension in the relations between the central government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan region of Iraq, which is located on its border border with Turkey, Abadi said "Iraq should have an (open) with Turkey, Authorities of the Kurdistan region) not to cut Iraq from Turkey. "

"The Kurds are Iraqi citizens, my priority is to protect them, and to protect the rest of the Iraqis, but I send a strong message: if you continue to kill soldiers," Abadi said, referring to the crisis caused by the Iraqi Kurdistan region's referendum on secession from the Iraqi state on September 25. Iraqis, you will take responsibility for that. "

Commenting on the attacks, which are being carried out from time to time against the elements of US forces deployed in the territory of Iraq, the Iraqi Prime Minister pointed out that all fighters from the United States and other Western countries in his country came an official invitation from Baghdad, stressing that it (Baghdad) Will not tolerate any hostile actions against the international coalition forces against the US-led "prodding".

"Any attack against them is an attack against Iraq, its sovereignty and the sovereignty of the Iraqi state," Abadi said.

Abadi also discussed the issue of popular mobilization, which recently sparked differences between Washington and Baghdad on the backdrop of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's statement that "Iranian-backed Shiite fighters should leave Iraq" after a "chilling" defeat.

Abadi said that "the popular mobilization forces must be loyal to Iraq alone and not to others. They must be loyal to the institutions of the Iraqi state and the supreme commander of the armed forces, not political parties or any other force, whether inside or outside Iraq."

Abadi stressed that, in the opposite case, these forces will be considered "outside the law," noting that "no one can carry, outside the Iraqi security forces, weapons."

Washington Post: Sunni politicians support Abadi's second term

 Journal  October 25, 2017

Baghdad - Journal News
The Washington Post has expressed its support for Sunni politicians to take Prime Minister Haider Abadi second term after his recent decisions on Kirkuk.

The newspaper said in its report, "The Journal News", to the acquisition of "Abadi" international prestige, adding to the variety of his victories on the organization of a supporter of the terrorist in Iraq. While his decisions were described by political experts as "wise," and "wise."

The way Abadi took control has caught the attention of the Washington government, winning the latter's support, to move towards the next election.

For his part, said the leader of the coalition of state law Saad Almtalibi "The initial impressions of Abadi he was not firm enough, but his decisions last week, changed the opinion of many, even my opinion I, was firm and stubborn in his face to the escalation of the provincial government, Peshmerga on the security forces, Abadi committed to the law and the Iraqi constitution. "

The newspaper said that the method of Abbadi to ensure the stability of the disputed areas in full, is still not known, while he said "the end of the referendum and left in the past." The first opportunity to see Abadi's next reaction to the Kurdistan region was when he issued three proposals on Wednesday to freeze the referendum and negotiate with the Baghdad government. Noting that "Abadi" confirmed the start of negotiations only in one case, namely, the abolition of the region for the referendum and not freeze, has not yet responded to the forced concessions Kurdish.

Although the government of Washington and the European Union have criticized the Abadi movement for intervening militarily in Kirkuk, all Iraqis, including Sunni politicians, agree with him in his decisions and encourage him to take another presidential term when former deputy prime minister Salam al-Zobaie said " The country is not clear to us, but in general we are satisfied with the recent events in Kirkuk, something that must have been done for a long time. " Noting that close to Abadi Pino that "America was already sure of the next step Abadi, to go to Kirkuk militarily, but did not specify the time and the appropriate circumstances for it."

Many Iraqi and international political elements concluded that Abadi's decisions were taken by Iran, especially with Qasim Soleimani during the period of negotiations and quarrels, but they were close to Abadi and clarified the truth and how to take these inevitable decisions when they said, "Sulaimani entered the negotiations Only after the Abadi agreements with the Kurds ended during the meeting, "meaning that Iran has no hand or interference in any of the resolutions of Kirkuk. Sulaimani also made a telephone call with the Kurdish leaders of the Peshmerga forces in order to persuade them to give up the idea of fighting militarily.

In other words, accusing Abadi of following Iran's decisions is one of the daily challenges facing the Iraqi prime minister in any decision taken by the central Baghdad government.

The Washington Post concluded its report by mentioning one of the most important challenges that Abadi faced in previous years. He organized Muqtada al-Sadr for demonstrations against the corrupt government of Baghdad in 2016, This rebellion, ordered the Iraqi forces to begin the liberation of the city of Fallujah, one of the most important cities "Sadrists" occupied by a supporter. The Iraqi forces liberated Falluja after only three weeks, causing the demonstrators to calm down and their demands, paving the way for the liberation of Mosul, the biggest victory for the Iraqi people.

: US Treasury, Saudi Arabia Taking on Terrorist Funding

The U.S. Treasury is working with Saudi Arabia to combat funding for terrorism, Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin said Wednesday at the opening of the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center.

"We're here to open the terrorist financing targeting center, which this is something we signed, a memorandum of understanding, when the president was here. It is one of my single most important priorities, as you know, to fight terrorist financing," Mnuchin said on Fox Business' "Mornings With Maria."

The center aims to find those who are funding terror activities using the financial system, Mnuchin said.

"We have our intelligence agencies working together, and this is a multi-country approach. So for the first time, we'll have multi-countries here in the Gulf doing sanctions with us," Mnuchin said.

The sanctions are a "terrific economic tool" to take on terrorism, Mnuchin added.

President Donald Trump's administration set sanctions on eight individuals and a business that are affiliated with the Islamic State in Yemen and with al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula on Wednesday in coordination with the center, according to The New York Times.

Other countries working with the center are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, according to The Times.

I agree with You, ChinaDawg!  Lasting peace, stability, and security in Iraq will not be realized without getting all the Iranian factions out of Iraq.

I believe there will be a lot of action on getting Iran out of Iraq in the very near future so that reconstruction and the rocketing Iraqi economy can really and finally be realized!

DT, thanks for this post... but this is coming from the Baghdad post and I'm calling total BS on this article. It is clearly an effort to spark dissension among the factions. A feeble effort I might add. Tillerson isn't ordering Abadi to do anything. Even if he wanted to he wouldn't because it's not his place to do so. Tillerson is a very smart person, smart enough to not look like a fool ordering the leader of a country to make a political move in that leaders country. Not how democracy is administered.

When articles like this come out, it clearly shows the juxtaposition of the opposition and their disposition to Abadis soon to be successful mission.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that "Iran's actions must be addressed in Iraq," he said. "What we say to the Iraqis is that you have to develop the ability to rely on yourselves."

He added that "America is not working to cancel all relations between Iraq and Iran, but Baghdad has to develop its own capabilities, Iraqis are Arabs, not Arabs, whether they are Sunnis or Shiites.
