Anti-Money Laundering Strategy

23/11/2017 12:00 am

Dr.. Bassem Ibrahimi

It seems that the next battle, the fight against corruption, has begun. This is what can be said, according to the statement of the Prime Minister at his last press conference. The new confrontation was announced in conjunction with the end of the military battle with the terrorist organization "Da'ash" But I will only limit the economic aspect of its implications.

If we want to move towards the stage of development and reconstruction, the elimination of corruption is a necessary condition for that, otherwise, any economic stimulus is dead since birth, not evidenced by the implementation rates in the investment budget in the years of financial abundance, which accounted for only 65 percent of the allocation To find out that these simple percentages are the other were overpaid and above the real proportions
much.
Confrontation needs more than one mechanism and one of the most important lies in the drying up of the sources of the transfer of dirty money and its movement with the outside world as well as follow-up abroad and here will be a strategy to combat money laundering a key role in that, where the monetary authority preceded the role of government through the completion of the strategy of money laundering and terrorism financing for years (2017-2020), which has been prepared for a long time in cooperation with some international bodies and relevant organizations, which will reach the government in the coming days, as stated by the Governor
 the bank.
In this context, there is international support system" rel="">support for Iraq in this confrontation must be invested. The invitation of the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq by the Security Council was an important precedent for the first time, where he made a presentation on the strategy mentioned and what has been achieved so far by the Central Bank by providing some names and companies Which is involved in money laundering and terrorist financing crimes to the judiciary to
hold them accountable.
Members of the Security Council welcomed the steps taken in this
regard.
In line with these trends, sections have been established to combat money laundering and terrorist financing in all the banks operating in Iraq on the basis of the central guidance. The work is being done on building their cadres with specialized courses in order to raise the level of follow-up and diagnosis in the financial sector. A comma in the field of construction and reconstruction, we should all support system" rel="">support them with all
strength.

Dawa Party exacerbates corruption in Iraq to point of no return

Dawa Party exacerbated corruption in Iraq to point of no return
Dawa Party exacerbated corruption in Iraq to point of no return

Dangers of corruption are equal to terrorism, as both severely damaged Iraq and brought it backward for decades.

Terrorism denied Iraqis the right of life and security, so as corruption that denied them of their rights, wealth and prosperity.

Corruption is an illness that destroyed all of the Iraqi institutions and accumulated massive debts that cripples both the current generations and many more to come.

The state of Iraq is very bizarre, as it has numerous resources, but its ruling elite that had the leadership of the country for the last 13 years had the lion's share in embezzling its wealth and resources, the most prominent of them is the Dawa Party.

Analysts told The Baghdad Post that there are organized corruption rings that run the country via its terrorist sectarian militias that vulgarly blackmail and embezzle Iraq, noting that there are no one can stop these powerful organizations.

They added that corruption levels in Iraq are unprecedented in the world, as the Shia Dawa Part which receives support from Iran, led the biggest heists in Iraq.

This comes as international reports asserted that Nouri al-Maliki in one of his many corruption cases embezzled over 48 billion US dollars between 2008 and 2014, under the context of several fake projects.

Various sources also told The Baghdad Post that Baghdad's former governor and also member of Dawa Party Salah Abdul Raziq embezzled over 100 billion Iraqi dinars in one deal at the Iraqi international exhibit.

They added that former commerce minister Falah al-Sudani was also accused in several corruption cases and stole over three billion dollars and was sentenced o seven years in prison but he managed to flee the country with the help of Maliki.

They also revealed that another former governor of Baghdad Kamil al-Zaidi embezzled funds that were dedicated to treat patients abroad, noting that the amount he stole surpassed a billion Iraqi dinars.

What is worth mentioning that the Iraqi judiciary system did not move to apprehend these corrupt officials and did not even include them on flight lists, while oppressing other Iraqis on sectarian grounds, especially Sunnis and Kurds.

Khandan -

MP of the bloc of change Hoshyar Abdullah that his bloc supports the anti-corruption campaign announced by Prime Minister Haider Abadi, stressing the need to include the campaign to overthrow the heads of corruption in the Kurdistan region as well.

"We in the Movement for Change will support and support any step that will fight corruption and prosecute the corrupt in the Iraqi state, but there are a number of steps should be priority for Abadi, the most important of which is to start this campaign inside," MP Hoshyar Abdullah said in a statement. And to bring to justice any minister who proves his involvement in corruption files or extended his hand to public money. "

Abdullah said: "Abadi must come out of his party caucus and not exclude anyone according to any partisan, sectarian or national considerations, and that all corruptists should be held accountable for any patronage. This campaign should be far from political objectives and should not be seen as early election propaganda. Because we see that fighting corruption does not have a specific time, but an open war to purge the institutions of the state can not be limited in a specific time and place.

"The people in the Kurdistan region are wondering whether this campaign will wipe out corruption in the government of the region, or whether Abadi in this campaign will also approach the indifference to corruption in the region and will be limited to the federal government only?"

He continued MP Hoshyar Abdullah, "Although this campaign came late, but the arrival of today better than not to come finally, the cause of all the problems suffered by Iraq is political corruption, which includes a range of levels of corruption, financial and administrative, and the best Prime Minister to be bold To move forward and not to retreat from this campaign under any pressure and that there is support from all the good parties.
