Mtabah- balances News
confirmed the Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri on Tuesday that his country could develop new ways to sell their oil, to bypass US sanctions.
The news site of the Ministry of Oil on the Internet, "Shana", Jahangiri described US efforts to reduce Iran's oil exports to zero by "illusion."
The Iranian official did not specify how his country would sell its oil.
"They believe they can stop Iran's oil exports, but the whole world needs Iranian oil, and we can always develop ways to sell our oil," Jahangiri said.
On May 8, US President Donald Trump announced a withdrawal from the agreement, which restricts Iran's nuclear program for peaceful uses in return for lifting Western sanctions.
As of November 4, sanctions on oil dealings with Tehran will begin after the US withdrawal from Iran's nuclear deal.
The State Department said it aimed to reduce Iranian oil exports to zero under sanctions.
The average daily production of Iran from crude oil, about 3.8 million barrels per day, according to "OPEC" and the volume of exports 2.3 million barrels.

Washington has tightened its grip on Iran and refuses to exempt any European firm that deals with its sanctions

The Euphrates -

Washington has stressed the need to tighten the screws on Tehran, and has firmly rejected requests to exempt European companies operating in Iran from US sanctions, which said it would be the most difficult in history.

A source in the French Ministry of Economy told AFP that 'the Americans did not respond positively to any of the requests in a letter' sent by France, Germany and the United Kingdom on June 4 to Washington, to exempt companies of these three US sanctions expected to be imposed soon .

The three countries are among the six countries that signed the nuclear deal with Iran, with Russia, China and the United States, which withdrew from it in May.

US Treasury Secretary Stephen Menuchin and Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo responded in writing to the three countries to make clear they would not be granted any exemption from sanctions for companies that signed contracts with Iran after the June 16, 2016 nuclear deal.

Since President Trump announced the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA, Washington has been pressing allies to end all imports of Iranian oil by a November 4. deadline Moreover, in a briefing on June 26, a senior State Department official was quite firm that the U.S. doesn't anticipate offering any extensions or waivers to that timeline. This statement created a feeling of emergency, and oil prices jumped by more than 3.5 percent. Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh also blamed President Trump's actions for the high oil prices during an interview with CNN. Ultimately, the price hike serves the interest of oil-dependent economies like Saudi Arabia, Russia and Iraq, especially since they can serve as substitutes for Iranian oil.

Iran is the third-largest oil producer in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and in May 2018exported about 2.7 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil. China, one of its biggest customers imported almost 27 percentof total Iranian exports, followed by India with 16 percent, South Korea with 10 percent, Japan with 7 percent and Turkey with 10 percent. Considering that Iranian exports dropped to about 1-1.5 million bpd during the 2013-2015 period of strong economic sanctions (from around 2.5 million bpd in 2011 to some 1 million bpd at the end of 2013), depending on how many countries follow the White House's call for sanctions today, we might expect Iranian exports to fall by between 200,000 bpd and 1 million bpd.

This shortfall would cause countries in the region to have to look to other suppliers to fill in the gap. For example, abstaining from Iranian oil would leave Turkey at the mercy of Russia.

In 2017, Turkey imported 24.9 million tons of crude oil in total, mainly from Iran (almost 50 percent) and the rest from Iraq, Russia, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Considering the fact that Iraq, the other potential oil supplier that can substitute Iranian oil, represents a more volatile and risky choice. If Turkey goes ahead and implements the restrictions demanded by the U.S., Russia will ultimately supply more than 60 percent of Turkey's oil, in addition to already supplying the majority of its natural gas.

Once we add into this mix the ongoing Akkuyu nuclear power plant project that will be built and operated by Russian State Nuclear Energy Agency Rosatom, we end with a Turkey that risks finding itself almost entirely tied to Russia - a complication for its NATO obligations, if nothing else. Taking into consideration those circumstances, on June 29 Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said that “the decisions taken by the U.S. are not binding for us. Of course, we will follow the United Nations on its decision. Other than this, we will only follow our own national interests.”

Another winner if U.S. sanctions are adopted widely would be Saudi Arabia. A drastic reduction of Iran’s oil exports (for example, by more than one million bpd) would likely boost Saudi production to numbers not seen since the late 1960s, in an attempt to fulfill market demands.

For its part, South Korea announced that they will end Iranian crude imports by the end of July, halting all shipments. According to Bloomberg, that leaves Iran with few options other than convincing China, its biggest customer, to buy more Iranian oil. This could create an unbalanced relationship between two countries, forcing Iran to be become over-reliant and dependant on China. This unequal relationship could be positive for China, as it might make it the biggest single buyer of Iran’s crude, giving it powerful leverage over the Iranian economy as a whole.

  • The factory would have the capacity to build rotors for up to 60 IR-6 centrifuges per day
  • Iran has begun working on infrastructure for building advanced centrifuges at its Natanz facility
  •

JEDDAH: Iran has increased its stockpile of uranium and boosted its ability to enrich it to weapons grade, the head of its atomic agency admitted on Wednesday.

Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said the regime had imported 550 tons of uranium before the 2015 agreement to curb its nuclear program. It had acquired about 400 tons more since then, bringing the total to between 900 and 950 tons.

Iran has also built a factory that can produce rotors for up to 60 IR-6 centrifuges a day for uranium enrichment, Salehi said.

The announcements came a month after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said he had ordered agencies to prepare to increase uranium-enrichment capacity if the nuclear deal falls apart after Washington’s withdrawal.

Under the agreement, which was also signed by Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, Iran agreed to curb its nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief.

The other signatories have been scrambling to save the deal. Iran has said it will wait to see what they can do, but has signaled it is ready to put its enrichment activities back on track.

Salehi insisted the new factory did not break the terms of the agreement. “Instead of building this factory in the next seven or eight years, we built it during the negotiations but have not started it,” he said.

Salehi said last month that Iran had begun working on infrastructure for building advanced centrifuges at its Natanz facility.

The announcements suggest that a nuclear bomb is on Iran’s agenda, Oubai Shahbandar, a Syrian-American analyst and fellow at the New America Foundation’s International Security Program, told Arab News

“Iran’s negotiating strategy here seems to be pegged to pressuring the EU to provide European businesses protection from complying with renewed US sanctions,” he said.

“IR-6 centrifuges are relatively complex and if Tehran moves forward with enhancing their capacity to mass-produce faster advanced centrifuges, they could easily establish a position to breakout quickly toward nuclear weapon production, if the decision is made.

“The capacity to build en masse more advanced centrifuges in the future doesn’t violate the deal itself, but it sends a strong political signal that nuclear weaponization could very well still be on the agenda in Tehran.”

You can thank Obama and Kerry for their disastrous 2015 deal with Iran.  That appeasement deal did nothing more than buy Iran time to further their bomb making capabilities and fund Iran’s proxy wars. Israel will never allow Iran to possess a Nuclear Weapon.

Agreed Pitcher.  Now Trump and Company are having to fix everything that was done over the previous 8 years.

A top Iranian official claimed Iran rejected eight requests to meet with US President Donald Trump last year, The Hill reported.

The meeting requests, which would have brought Trump together with Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, reportedly came during the United Nations General Assembly in 2017, the New York Times reported.

"Trump asked the Iranian delegation eight times to have a meeting with the president," Rouhani’s chief of staff, Mahmoud Vaezi, said.

Though Iranian officials have previously said Trump tried to meet with Rouhani during the General Assembly, they have not revealed the number of times Iran rebuffed the U.S. president.

Trump in May withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal, which limited Tehran's nuclear ability in exchange for lifting international oil and financial sanctions. America's departure left Iran vulnerable to reinstated sanctions.

Iran has built a factory that can produce rotors for up to 60 centrifuges a day, the head of its atomic agency said on Wednesday, upping the stakes in a confrontation with Washington over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear work, Reuters reported.

The announcement came a month after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said he had ordered agencies to prepare to increase uranium enrichment capacity if a nuclear deal with world powers falls apart after Washington’s withdrawal from the pact.

Under the terms of the 2015 agreement, which was also signed by Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

The other signatories have been scrambling to save the accord, arguing it offers the best way to stop Iran developing a nuclear bomb.

Iran has said it will wait to see what the other powers can do, but has signaled it is ready to get its enrichment activities back on track. It has regularly said its nuclear work is just for electricity generation and other peaceful projects.

Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said the new factory did not in itself break the terms of the agreement.

“Instead of building this factory in the next seven or eight years, we built it during the negotiations but did not start it,” Salehi, said, according to state media.

“Of course, the [Supreme Leader] was completely informed and we gave him the necessary information at the time. And now that he has given the order this factory has started all of its work.”
The factory would have the capacity to build rotors for up to 60 IR-6 centrifuges per day, he added.

Last month, Salehi announced that Iran has begun working on infrastructure for building advanced centrifuges at its Natanz facility.

Former OPEC official: The world is not keeping pace with the United States in imposing a ban on Iran

NEW YORK, July 20 (Xinhua)
- Iran's oil exports can not be delivered to zero, the former official of the US Treasury Department's Foreign Assets Control Office, Brian O'Toole, said yesterday , adding that the world was not keeping pace with the United
Nations in imposing a new ban on Iran.

n82976094-72446450.jpg

"In 2013, there were escalating embargoes," Otol said in a speech at a meeting of the Atlantic Council in Washington on Thursday. "In addition to the US embargo, UN resolutions were also imposed against Iran.
"Today's circumstances are different. Administration officials believe that the extreme pressure imposed by the United States and North Korea at the negotiating table can also bring Iran to the negotiating table, but I think that there is a problem in this case because the question is, what are we aiming at? On Iran?
"In 2013 the world was behind us to reach a nuclear deal, but the rest of the world is not with us now, so the basis of the case that the Trump government can reach the ban imposed in 2013 is a wrong basis," the former Opec official said.
He said Europe would leave the United States alone in implementing the embargo. "There are also Turkey, Russia, China and India, which are major importers of Iranian oil, yet perhaps America will be able to restore 85 or 90 percent of the effects of the embargo that was in 2013, but I also believe that The remaining 10 percent is really important.
Otol said US officials say Iran's oil exports should be delivered to zero, but I do not see the possibility of achieving that goal.

Energy circles are abuzz with talk that U.S. President Donald Trump might tap the nation’s emergency oil stockpile to stabilize pump prices -- and please voters -- in the run-up to November’s midterm elections. The tool at his disposal is the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, set up in the aftermath of the Arab oil embargo in the 1970s as a backup in case of subsequent supply shocks. It’s the world’s largest supply of emergency crude, stored in deep and heavily guarded underground salt caverns along the U.S. Gulf Coast. At present, the reserve totals 660 million barrels.

1. Have presidents tapped the reserve before?

Yes. In 2011, President Barack Obama released 30 million barrels as part of a joint effort with other nations to counter supply disruptions from Libya. In 2005, President George W. Bush released 11 million barrels in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. And in 1991, under President George H.W. Bush, 17 million barrels were released during the first Gulf War. Test releases take place from time to time, as well as limited releases in the form of swaps. Last year, for instance, the Energy Department authorized the release of 5 million barrels to Gulf Coast refineries when Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc on the region. Such arrangements are designed to address short-term emergency needs, and the crude is repaid, in kind, at a future date.

2. In what circumstances can presidents release stockpiled oil?

That’s pretty much the president’s prerogative. But the 1975 law that established the reserve says a president can order a full drawdown in the event of a "severe energy supply interruption" that threatens national security or the economy. A limited drawdown (up to 30 million barrels) can be ordered in the event of "a domestic or international energy supply shortage of significant scope or duration."

3. Why is this issue coming up now?

The price of crude oil, and of gasoline at the pump, have been rising, pushed up by forces including the collapse of Venezuela’s oil industry and disruptions in Libya. Trump’s decision to re-impose sanctions on Iran could send prices skyrocketing right as American voters start to focus on what party to support in congressional elections in November. Though Trump is pressuring the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries to ramp up production, analysts are skeptical his calls will have the intended result.

4. What does a release entail?

The maximum drawdown capability is 4.4 million barrels a day, according to the Energy Department’s website, and it takes 13 days for SPR oil to reach the market after a presidential decision. In reality, recent pipeline reconfigurations and maintenance mean the maximum rate at which it can be drawn down is likely to be less than that, according to analysts. But the mere announcement that the SPR is being deployed could have an immediate, if short-lived, effect on oil prices. Longer-term, much depends on how many Iranian barrels are lost due to sanctions, what OPEC’s response is, and so on. And any impact may only be to stop oil from reaching even loftier heights. “You could be avoiding an increase as opposed to bringing prices down,” said Guy Caruso, a former head of the Energy Information Administration.

5. Is there any way to make a bigger splash?

A drawdown of the U.S. stockpile in tandem with other members of the International Energy Agency would arguably lend any move more legitimacy. “A collective release would have a bigger impact in terms of market perception,” said Antoine Halff, a senior research scholar at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy in New York. “It’s also much easier to justify politically.”

6. What’s the outlook for the U.S. stockpile?

The domestic shale boom has allowed the U.S. to join the ranks of the world’s biggest oil producers, lending weight to arguments that the emergency reserve is past its sell-by date. It’s been tapped in recent years to help pay government bills ranging from roads to deficit reduction and drugs, and current plans are for the stockpile to be cut almost in half over several years. Speculation that Trump may tap the reserve rebuts the case for doing away with it. “It certainly undermines the argument that we live in an age of abundance where emergency stocks are superfluous,” said Halff.

Imam Khamenei: No oil will be exported from the region if they prevent Iran's exports
The leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Ali Khamenei, confirmed that President Hassan Rowhani's statement during his recent visit to Europe, saying "if Iran can not export its oil, no country in the region will be able to export its oil." An important statement that reflects the policies and orientations of the Islamic Republic Iran.
During his meeting with the ambassadors of Iran in the world, Iranian Foreign Minister and Foreign Ministry officials met with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Khamenei.
"Iran is always accused of negative issues, which are the basis of the ongoing psychological warfare practiced by the enemies. To this end, the subject of intimidation from Iran, fighting Iran and escaping from Iran and accusing it of violating democracy, freedoms and human rights is repeated in enemy propaganda.
Imam Khamenei referred to the crimes of Europeans and Westerners in the former colonies, restricting democracy in the West by laws or opinion of private centers, the existence of partisan dictatorship in America and some European countries as well as the current crimes of Westerners, including partnership with the Saudis in the killing of the Yemeni people. Human rights, but they all accuse Iran of being surprised by the man of their arrogance.
He said that the perception of the possibility of solving the problems of the country through negotiation with the United States or the establishment of relations with it, as a mistake traveled, and said that America has a fundamental problem and structurality with the origin of the Islamic system, and there are many countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America have relations with America, Suffers from many problems.
Highlighting the depth of US hostility to the Islamic Republic, Imam Khamenei said: "The Americans are going back to their previous position in Iran before the revolution, and they will not be satisfied with anything less.
He said that Iran's opposition to Iran's nuclear capabilities and enrichment and to its presence in the region stemmed from its deep hostility to the elements of the Islamic regime's power. He said that the regional presence is one of the elements of Iran's power and security.
Imam Khamenei said that he and other officials have repeatedly affirmed America's lack of credibility, so that its signature can not be trusted, so negotiations with the United States are useless.

Don't run off and go all MAGA here guys.  Trump is a life-long master of “bluff and bluster and then back  down" In this case he is biting off more than he can chew.  IF he doesn’t listen to his advisors, we could be headed towards disaster.  China, Russia, Germany and France all support Iran from the sanctions question to oil.  China is Iran's largest customer and has flat out said it will continue to be so and has even talked about picking up some of the slack for Iran's cut-off sales.  They also have the military and financial muscle to back it up.  The Germans have just announced they will support Iran with their decision to deliver oil.  India (Iran's 2nd largest customer), seems ready now to continue doing so.  Let's not get distracted by the China-US tariffs dispute which won't help to pressure China, because they still hold $1.2 trillion in US debt.  That’s a mighty hammer and it must be respected.  With our true debt (as of July 2018) just adjusted to show it's increased by over an unexpected $800+ Billion so far this year and with another $1 trillion in additional debt coming from tax increases, our US financial system stands on extremely shaky ground.  Hell, on Thursday it came out that according to the latest treasury figures,   Russian ownership of US Treasury bonds dropped from $96.1 billion in March to an 11-year low of $14.9 billion in May”.  Do we have the military power to force our will on Iran,…without a second’s doubt, yes.  But do we have the political and financial strength to take on the other Powers that Be around the world, IMHO, no.  Trump and any other president we have had would all back down in crunch time.  JMHO.

Its time to take them out!!!  They have been instigating trouble in the ME since 1980.  Get rid of these Moooola pos’s and maybe Iraq can RV their currency.

Iran are a bunch of nut jobs for sure.  The Saudis despite the BS from the US oil Industry  have been an even bigger threat to us.  We will never solve the Sunni - Shiite problem.  We also should never forget that it was a bunch of Saudi funded Sunnis who hit us on 9.11, Sunnis who made up and led Al Qaeda  and Sunnis who made up ISIS.   Too many Americans have no idea about the forces at play in M E.

Spiritual warns Trump: Do not play with fire
Iranian President Hassan Rowhani warned his US counterpart, Donald Trump, on Sunday against continuing hostile policies to Tehran. "America should know that peace with Iran is the real peace and war with Iran is the mother of all wars," he said.
"Mr Trump is not messing with the lion's tail, it will only regret," Iran's ISNA news agency quoted Rowhani as saying before a crowd of Iranian diplomats. Other Iranian news agencies reported similar reports.
He explained that the current US government is working simultaneously to spread injustice in the world and run behind its interests. Never before has the White House been carrying out practices that violate human rights, anti-Islamism and the Palestinian people. They have repeatedly claimed that the Israeli occupation is a model of democracy in the region, but today it is a centerpiece and center of apartheid.
He noted that the enemies had failed to divide Iran and the third plot was sanctions under the pretext of nuclear activities. The White House always works to create obstacles whenever it sees that Europe is getting closer to Iran.
He noted that the nuclear agreement failed the 12-year conspiracy against Iran's nuclear technology, and that all America is doing is to order Iran and the great Iranian people.
He stressed that the nuclear agreement is a unified decision for all the pillars of the Iranian regime and that America's latest plot is to seek the benefit of the Iranian people, but the Americans should understand that peace with Iran is the real peace and that the war with Iran or wars and their threats are rejected and we trust Our capabilities.
Rohani pointed out that today Iran has an internal union more than before and the threat of closer proximity to each other and obedience that we will defeat America together, continuing, yes, we will pay big costs, but what we will get will be much greater.
He stressed that America's first and last goal is to renounce the nuclear agreement by Iran.
"The depth of Iran's strategy is clear throughout the world and the region," he said. "Iranian culture takes peace as its approach and stands by the oppressed against the violators of rights and spreading injustice."
He said that Iran has rebuked and encouraged the people of the region and we are proud of this, criticizing America's double policy, which supports terrorism and offered to the money and arms and advocacy to advocate for human rights.
"What America wants today is to persuade Europe to reform the nuclear agreement," she said. "I tried hard to pressure in this area, but I had to pull out on its own," he said, noting that Iran was smartly dealing with Trump's immaturity.
He stressed that Iran in the current circumstances is working to improve relations with its neighbors Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain. Its relations with Russia are based on common interests.
He pointed out that some countries in the region are either afraid of America or do not trust them, pointing out that those who understand even a little politics do not say should prevent the export of Iranian oil. "We have more than one Strait and the Strait of Hormuz is one of them.
He sent a letter to Trump saying: "Mr. Trump, we are the men of dignity and honor and the security of the navigational corridor of the region throughout history. Do not mess with the lion's tail because you will regret it." You can not move the Iranian people against their national and national security and interests.
"All the great powers will do everything they can to unleash hostility against us, but let everyone know that we have two paths. Either surrender or resistance and the modern day with America means nothing but surrender and the end of Iranian achievements.

TEHRAN, Iran –  Iran's president is warning President Donald Trump against provoking his country while indicating peace between the two nations might still be possible.

Trump earlier this year pulled the United States out of the international deal meant to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon and ordered increased American sanctions.

Iran's semi-official ISNA news agency quoted President Hassan Rouhani as warning Trump on Sunday: "Do not play with the lion's tail or else you will regret it."

Trump has suggested Iranian leaders are "going to call me and say 'let's make a deal'" but Iran has rejected talks.

Rouhani suggests peace is still possible and says "America must understand well that peace with Iran is the mother of all of peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars."
