We always heard there would be disinformation and what better way to discourage than to float the idea right up to the wire that the Kurds will separate? That would kill the dinar since they are the most functional part of Iraq right now....

isnt tomorrow the 15th? Isn't September one of the months where there have been significant  changes in the rate at the UN? Well golly shucks they just postponed the referendum and tomorrow we might see a rare change..... that will calm the frayed nerves of most of the Kurds I would hope...... mine too lol

The Kurdistan region depends, like the rest of the oil producing countries, as part of Iraq, on the oil revenues, where the oil forms the main element in the Iraqi state revenues needed to cover public spending (17% of this revenue allocated to the region, and that dependence on oil has disadvantages that oil is depleting and non – renewable resource, and here must find alternative sources of income for adoption in the future when this resource run out .
The economy of the region is weak and serviceable and the production suffers structural imbalances, as a developed and flexible production system (agricultural and industrial) is not available represented by purchasing capabilities that increase the pressures of demand which means the domestic production is unable to meet the domestic demand of imported goods to meet demand, and put strong pressure on the balance of payments, thus increasing dependence on the outside.

No to the referendum

I just don't see this happening, just my opinion. The PTB don't want it. They forced Maliki out when he was over the top with his shenanigans.

It'll be interesting to see who blinks first. Lots of political positioning going on. If the GOI wasn't so corrupt it would be clearer. The Kurds/Erbil aren't "clean" but they're at least economically sound. That alone is a bargaining chip.

I see a major Storm . The Threat of Referendum . The move of basara oil  2 million barrels from the s&p to the Dubai mercantile . The possibility of a reset to the bench mark price of oil to Asian markets from 17 cents a barrel to who knows what ? China fully dependent on Iraq now selling oil futures in Yuan backed by gold . And the need for an HCL . I'm sure there's more to add to all this pressure for some kind of agreed change
