Saudi Arabia: The great princes are subjected to terrible attacks and their assistants for torture and psychological pressure and without serious sleep for many hours

Trend Press / Reports

The high-ranking princes arrested in Saudi Arabia have not been subjected to torture, but have been subjected to terrible psychological pressure by foreign mercenaries to reveal their bank accounts outside Saudi Arabia.

According to sources familiar with the situation of princes, the newspaper said that unlike foreign articles published abroad on the torture of princes such as Mteeb bin Abdullah and the attempt of Prince Alwaleed bin Talal suicide did not record these events.

She confirmed that the princes underwent terrible and psychologically expensive layouts without sleep for many hours in order to collapse and reveal their bank accounts abroad and some companies registered with names of others in the Kingdom and abroad. They were questioned about their rejection of Prince Muhammad bin Salman Koley of the Covenant and whether there was a conspiracy against him.

According to these sources, violent torture was inflicted on other princes and businessmen, and the aides of the princes, who were charged with bank accounts and secrets, were subjected to serious violence.

The Saudi and international press spoke of the arrest of princes and businessmen, but no one spoke of the aides, some of them foreign nationals from Lebanon, Egypt, Pakistan and Palestine.

On behalf of the anti-corruption committee, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched two weeks of unprecedented arrests in Saudi Arabia's history, including senior princes, some of whom were candidates for the king's post, businessmen, ministers and hundreds of aides.

What foreign newspapers said

According to the Middle EastA British website, Prince Meteb bin Abdullah, the Minister of National Guard, held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, was among six detained princes who were taken to hospitals after their arrest as part of the campaign launched by the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman .

Prince Mattib and the detained princes were severely beaten and tortured by interrogators at their place of detention, the website said, adding that all six princes were taken to hospital within the 24 hours following their arrest .

One of the princes was in very poor condition and was admitted to a hospital intensive care unit, the site said .

"Everyone was severely beaten, but none of them were injured, while the military boots left investigators with visible marks on their bodies," the Middle East said .

King Salman is stoned

According to those interested in the Saudi affairs, there are no signs of releasing the detained princes and may be tried at the beginning of next year after Salman bin Abdul Aziz abdicated for his son, the crown prince. There is discontent among the families of the princes because of news that foreigners are being arrested and questioned by princes .

The Saudi authorities have said that the arrests came against the background of files of corruption have been investigated for a long time, and was supposed to bring detainees before the Attorney General and the investigating judge and the provision of lawyers for them. However, this did not happen, and the judicial authorities did not specify a date for the trial or at least for the detainees with their lawyers, and even their family members were not allowed to visit them .

Raya al-Yawm also came from sources familiar with the Saudi royal family with news of outrage among the families of the imprisoned princes. She did not wake up from the nightmare of arrest until she was surprised that the princes were arrested by foreign special forces. Each group led the arrest of a Saudi officer. News of the arrest of foreign forces of princes .

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has not visited the relatives of the princes. The Crown Prince's envoys say justice will take its natural course and that the princes are held in luxury hotels and not in prisons with the general public .

The families of influential princes preferred to avoid talking with King Salman in the file because they considered him to be willful and that his son, the crown prince, had the first and last word .

According to speculation, the crown prince may release the princes who are detained on conditions and restrict their freedom, such as compulsory residence after he takes the throne at the end of next month or the beginning of the new year, if not before. This would ensure the absence of any opposition within the

royal family .

An Israeli analyst: Saudi Arabia is trying to compete Iran in Iraq after it is too late

41

24320.jpg?watermark=w4

Riyadh seeks to re-establish relations with Baghdad after years of exile, for fear of the establishment of the pillars of Iran in the region. However, Iraq is now under Iran's tutelage, and the two countries do not seem to be easily unpopular. The Hebrew newspaper Ha'aretz published an article by the Israeli analyst Zvi Bar'el, in which he monitored the Saudi efforts to restore its role in Iraq and to counter Iranian Shiite expansion.

A shift in Saudi-Iraqi relations

The relationship between Saudi Arabia and Iraq has improved considerably, as if there is a new "love story" between the two countries after 14 years of mutual separation. The last chapter was a few months ago when Iraq expelled the Saudi ambassador, . But the turning point in relations took place last month when Saudi Arabia led by King Salman formed a joint coordination committee with Iraq, which already signed a number of economic agreements, in the presence of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

A few weeks later, the Committee met again to broaden the scope of cooperation. Although for 27 years - since Saddam Hussein's capture of Kuwait - no Saudi planes have landed in Iraq, a Saudi trade delegation has been seen at Baghdad airport, and has been very well received by the Iraqi media.

A late Saudi step ..

"Saudi Arabia's attempt to re-discover Iraq is, of course, inseparable from the overall campaign that the kingdom is waging to limit Iran's influence. But, as in Lebanon and Syria, it appears that the move is too late.Saudi Arabia missed many opportunities to heal the rift with Iraq once the Gulf War ended, but preferred to continue punishing Baghdad for broad relations with Tehran, until Iran became Iraq's largest trading partner.

What is interesting is Iran's agreement to resume relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia. The reason for this seems to be Tehran's confidence in Iraq's commitment to it. More important, if Iraq reinstates its relations with Saudi Arabia and gains more legitimacy in the Arab world, it will prove that close ties with Iran will not make the Iraqi state ostracized. Thus, if Saudi Arabia is willing to invest billions of dollars in Iraq, that is fine, because that will benefit both Iraq and Iran. This is the same approach Iran has taken towards Lebanon, which has benefited from massive Saudi investments without limiting Iran's ability to influence Lebanese politics.

Iraq: new front to confront Iran

Perhaps the current relationship between Saudi Arabia and Iraq refers to the strategic shift that has taken place in the policy of the Saudi leadership towards the Syrian crisis, especially in light of the dominance of Russia and Iran in the situation there.

Riyadh has the power to influence Russia's political solution, given its influence on some of Syria's rebel militias. It seems that Saudi Arabia has reached the inevitable result: that it must choose new fronts to confront Iran, and Iraq may be a possible front for such confrontation - especially to prevent the so-called "Shiite axis," which runs from Iran through Iraq and the end of Syria .

In order to achieve this Saudi ambition, Riyadh should convince the Iraqi government, headed by Haider al-Abadi, to agree to the survival of US forces in Iraq, despite the end of the war against the Islamic state organization, after controlling the last stronghold. When President Hassan Rowhani and Qods Force commander Qassim Soleimani announced that "the mission was fully achieved" and that the war on Iraq was "over," it was over. However, these statements did not prevent the organization "Dahesh" to launch bloody attacks in recent days, as he is still active in several locations in Western Sahara from Iraq in Anbar province.

Will it withdraw the Iranian forces from Iraq?

The Israeli writer stresses that the Iranian statements about the end of the war on the organization of "Daash", carries an important strategic significance, because it means that Tehran can now withdraw its troops from Iraqi territory and demand the Western coalition forces, especially the United States, to withdraw also from the country.

There is no problem for Iran to withdraw its troops from Iraq, as it will continue to finance and train Shiite militias supporting the Iraqi army, which are an integral part of the Iraqi

armed forces, thereby maintaining its military hegemony in Iraq.

GM blue,  I do believe  Nusarri is very pro nuturing the relationship between the private banking sector and the CBI.  He is definitely pro Alak admiringly defending Alak after his poor peer review from the International Central Banking Community.  I don't think he/Nussari has the relationship with the IMF Saleh has, and therefore would not be a World Bank or IMF choice to replace Alak.  Yet, who would have thought Shabs would have been canned and replaced by Alak.  The CBI Governor position is not an elected position.  It is an Independent Body position appointed by the Prime Minister.  It appears from the CBI website, Alak is the actual Governor, yet the IMF recognizes him as acting.

Saudi Government Wants $6 Billion For al-Waleed's Freedom

In case you were wondering what the going-rate was for one of the world's richest men's freedom... it's $6 billion... in unencumbered cash (not Bitcoin).

20171222_bin_0.jpg

That is the price that Saudi authorities are demanding from Saudi Prince al-Waleed bin Talal to free him from detention.

The 62-year-old prince was one of the dozens of royals, government officials and businesspeople rounded up early last month in a wave of arrests the Saudi government billed as the first volley in Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s campaign against widespread graft.

According to the Mail, al-Waleed, who is (or was, until recently) one of the richest men in the world, has also been hung upside down and beaten.

2017.11.23bintalal_0.JPG

The Saudi government has disclosed few details of its allegations against the accused, but as The Wall Street Journal reports, people familiar with the matter said the $6 billion Saudi officials are demanding from Prince al-Waleed, a large stakeholder in Western businesses like Twitter, is among the highest figures they have sought from those arrested.

While the prince's fortune is estimated at $18.7 billion by Forbes - which would make him the Middle East’s wealthiest individual - he has indicated that he believes raising and handing over that much cash as an admission of guilt and would require him to dismantle the financial empire he has built over 25 years.

Prince al-Waleed is talking with the government about instead accepting as payment for his release a large piece of his conglomerate, Kingdom Holding Co., people familiar with the matter said. The Riyadh-listed company’s market value is $8.7 billion, down about 14% since the prince’s arrest. Kingdom Holding said in November that it retained the support of the Saudi government and that its strategy “remains intact.”

According to a senior Saudi official, Prince al-Waleed faces accusations that include money laundering, bribery and extortion. The official didn’t elaborate, but said the Saudi government is merely "having an amicable exchange to reach a settlement."

The prince has indicated to people close to him that he is determined to prove his innocence and would fight the corruption allegations in court if he had to.

“He wants a proper investigation. It is expected that al-Waleed will give MBS a hard time,” said a person close to Prince al-Waleed, referring to the crown prince by his initials, as many do.

Some people close to Prince al-Waleed say they believe his high profile helped turn Prince Mohammed against the tycoon. Kingdom Holding has long acted like an arm of the Saudi state, striking deals that could have also been done by the crown prince or the kingdom’s own sovereign-wealth vehicle, the Public Investment Fund.

*  *  *

We suspect al-Waleed will not get his day in court, and will instead be forced to live on "diet food" since, as a reminder, the WSJ previously confirmed that fundamentally, the purge may be nothing more than a forced extortion scheme, as the Saudi government - already suffering from soaring budget deficits, sliding oil revenues and plunging reserves - was "aiming to confiscate cash and other assets worth as much as $800 billion in its broadening crackdown on alleged corruption among the kingdom’s elite."

Saudi’s King Salman orders creation of departments to combat corruption

The kingdom is preparing to undertake legal proceedings against 56 individuals still held after November’s corruption purge

478361703.jpg

Saudi monarch King Salman has approved the creation of specialised departments to deal with corruption cases at the Public Prosecution.

The move follows last November’s corruption crackdown, which snared hundreds of businessmen, royals and government officials.

The kingdom’s attorney general said in January that 56 individuals of 381 subpoenaed during the investigation were still in custody and are expected to face legal proceedings.

A total of nearly $107bn in settlements was received from those released in the form of real estate, commercial entities, securities, cash and other assets.

The new departments will be directly linked to attorney general Sheikh Saud Al Mojeb and seek to “combat corruption in all its forms and with the aim of protecting the country and its resources”, according to the official Saudi Press Agency.

They are designed to improve the effectiveness and quality of the work being done by prosecutors and accelerate corruption cases, which were previously being handled by the department of crimes against public office.

“The Public Prosecutor’s Office is the exclusive authority to investigate all criminal cases. The Public Prosecution’s investigation of the legality of the judicial investigation is based on its immunity in the face of ‘objective” judicial review’, subject to the integrity or invalidity of the procedure in its preliminary stage or beyond,” according to the announcement.

The kingdom’s corruption purge has been led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who described the process in an interview last month as a cancer that needed to be purged.

“You have a body that has cancer everywhere, the cancer of corruption. You need to have chemo, the shock of chemo, or the cancer will eat the body,” he told the Washington Post.

He said the settlements would help the kingdom reach its budget targets this year.

Last week, US magazine Forbes removed all Saudis from its rich list, including the country’s most famous businessman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, due to a lack of clarity regarding the settlements they had made with authorities.`

Saudi graft suspects were physically abused

Posted on 12 March 2018 - 05:08pm

WASHINGTON: Prominent Saudis held in what Riyadh dubbed an anti-corruption campaign were subjected to coercion and physical abuse, the New York Times reported Monday, describing fear and uncertainty even after their release.

The newspaper said at least 17 detainees were hospitalised after facing abuse, while a Saudi general later died in custody with what witnesses said appeared to be a broken neck.

Many of the 381 suspects, including princes, ministers and tycoons, remain under military surveillance and some have been forced to wear ankle bracelets that track their movements, the newspaper said.

The revelations came ahead of a high-profile visit to the United States by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who orchestrated the crackdown in early Nov as he consolidates his grip on power.

Saudi officials did not immediately respond to AFP's request for comment, but the New York Timesquoted the government rejecting the abuse claims as "completely untrue".

Officials have said they are in the process of recovering US$107 billion (RM417 billion) seized in the crackdown, in the form of property, securities and cash, handed over by the suspects in exchange for their freedom.

The detainees included billionaire Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, former National Guard chief Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, construction magnate Bakr bin Laden and media mogul Waleed al-Ibrahim of the regional MBC cable network.

Some of those held at Riyadh's luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel were deprived of sleep, roughed up, interrogated with their heads covered and pressured to hand over large assets, the report said, citing relatives and associates of detainees.

Major General Ali al-Qahtani, a top aide to a son of the late King Abdullah, was among those held.

He later died in custody, his corpse bearing signs of torture, according to witnesses quoted by the newspaper.

Critics have labelled Prince Mohammed's campaign a shakedown and power grab, but authorities insist the purge targeted endemic corruption as the country prepares for a post-oil era.

The government on Sunday said Saudi King Salman had ordered the creation of specialised anti-corruption units in the public prosecutor's office to investigate and prosecute graft cases.

Officials have not made public the charges against suspects detained at the Ritz-Carlton.

Prince Mohammed is set to visit the US next week for the first time since becoming heir to the throne last June.

The tour is aimed partly at courting foreign investors. — AFP
