Salah al-Din (Iraq) - An Iraqi military source said on Friday that units of the Federal Police (internal surveillance) were stationed in the district of Sharqat north of Salahaddin province (north) in preparation for the start of incursions into the last areas of control of the Islamic State Organization in the governorates of Salah al-Din and Kirkuk.

"The armored units and artillery battalions of the Federal Police entered the district of Sharqat north of Salah al-Din province and stationed at a military base near the left side of the judiciary under the control of Daed."

"Other reinforcements from the 56th Brigade of the Sunni tribal grouping (pro-government fighters) have reached the outskirts of Hawija district, west of Kirkuk province, to participate in the battle to liberate the judiciary from da'ish control," he said.

He added that "the arrival of military reinforcements was accompanied by intensive air strikes targeted the sites of armed supporters in the neighborhoods of Qadisiyah and appeal and Tnk and Yarmouk in the district of Hawija and left dead and wounded," without details.

The Iraqi forces began last week to move towards the province of Kirkuk as part of a military plan aimed at liberating Hawija district and its outskirts in addition to the left side of the province of Shorqat north of Salah al-Din province, which is under the control of the Islamic state since 2014.

The forces of the Peshmerga (the forces of the Kurdish region) and the forces of Asayish (tracking the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan led by Jalal Talabani) control of the central, north and east of Kirkuk fully after the escape of Iraqi army units from the province in mid 2014.

The Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi announced in the last August of August to restore the district of Tal Afar and the full control of the province of Nineveh.

The organization of the Islamic state is currently controlled by Hawija in the province of Kirkuk (300 km north of Baghdad) and the Qaim border area with Syria in Anbar province in western Iraq.

The state of Islam was launched from Iraq and at the end of 2014 it controlled one-third of the country's territory. Today, however, it lost 90 percent of the areas it controlled, including the city of Mosul, which declared the Caliphate in Iraq and Syria.

Federal Police Forces (FPF) are ready to recapture the remaining ISIS-held districts such as Hawija, al-Shiraqt and western Anbar, Lieutenant-General Raed Shaker Jawdat, commander of FPF revealed Friday.

Jawdat said that police forces are mobilizing commando units, armored vehicles, artillery brigades and warplanes in these districts.

The forces are completing the preparations for retaking Hawija, western Anabar and al-Shirqat from ISIS terrorists, he added.

Iraqi Prime Minister Hadier al-Abadi vowed Thursday that security forces would launch military operations to retake Hawija district in southern Kirkuk Governorate and cities of Annah, Rawa and Qa'im in western Anbar from ISIS grip soon.

Us-led coalition warplanes bombarded an ISIS' stronghold, that was used as stock market headquarter, in southeastern Kirkuk Governorate, a security source said Friday.

The purpose of this air raid was an attempt to dry up the sources of terrorist funding, he added, confirming that an ISIS crude oil storage has been destroyed.

Since June 2014, Hawija district and the areas of al-Zab, al-Rashad, al-Riyad and al-Abbasi, in the southwest of Kirkuk, are still controlled by ISIS terrorists.

More than 150,000 civilians fled the governorate while the Iraqi forces have launched several military operations to retake it from ISIS grip.

Top ISIS weapons experts killed in US Coalition airstrikes in Syria

Top ISIS weapons experts killed in US Coalition airstrikes in Syria

US-led coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria said it killed two senior leaders who oversaw weapons research and drone operations for the terror group in airstrikes on Monday, CNN reported on Thursday.

Abu Anas al-Shami, an ISIS weapons research leader who headed up efforts to procure explosives for the group as well as plans to use bombs in external terror attack plots, was killed in a coalition airstrike as he rode a motorcycle near Mayadin, Syria, coalition spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon told reporters at the Pentagon Thursday.

"He also oversaw the building of improvised explosives to rig corpses, vehicles and buildings to try and help ISIS cling to strongholds they are losing in Iraq and Syria," Dillon said.

A separate airstrike in the same region killed Junaid ur Rehman, a senior ISIS drone pilot and engineer who was working to enhance ISIS's ability to weaponize drones and conduct aerial surveillance in Iraq and Syria as well as to plot external terror attacks.

Coalition officials have long voiced concern over ISIS's interest in employing drone technology on the battlefield.

"We are destroying their launch points, we are killing their engineers, we are dismantling their manufacturing facilities and their users," Dillon told reporters. "We are ripping apart their ability to use drones and to further get better" at perfecting their drone technology.

The strikes follow an announcement last month that coalition airstrikes had killed 12 senior ISIS leaders, many of whom were involved in planning attacks against western targets, or facilitating the movement of foreign fighters into Iraq and Syria.

All of these recent strikes against ISIS targets have mostly been located along the Middle Euphrates River Valley in Syria, where many of the group's senior leaders have moved to since military operations against their former stronghold in Raqqa began earlier this year.

IS Oil Stocks near Hawija Destroyed

ERBILL— The oil stocks of the Islamic State (IS) organization in the vicinity of Hawija (55 km southwest of Kirkuk) were destroyed in an air strike on Thursday night.

Iraqi al-Sumaria news, citing an informed source, reported on Friday that the international coalition's jets pounded the location which the IS used as oil stocks and destroyed it completely.

The offensive came as another effort to dry out the finance resources of the extremist organization.

Tanks and the crude oil reservoir which the Islamic militants used for providing the fuel for their vehicles were destroyed in the attack, the report said.

As of June 10, 2014, the IS has control over the town of Hawija as well as Rashad, Zap, Riyadh and Abbasi areas, southwest of Kirkuk.

More than 150,000 civilians from these areas have taken shelter in Kirkuk since then.

Media reports suggest that the operation to retake the control of the territory is to launch soon.

174 IS Members from Turkey Surrender

174 IS Members from Turkey Surrender

ERBIL — A total of 174 Islamic State (IS) militants from Turkey have surrendered to the Joint Iraqi Forces and the Kurdish Peshmergas since the liberation of Mosul and its neighboring town of Tel Afar.

Turkey's National Intelligence Agency (MIT) is in close surveillance of the situation regarding the Turkish nationals, who voluntarily surrendered to the Iraqi authorities with their families, Hurriyet Daily reported.

The security level near the Turkish borders with Syria and Iraq has been increased, due to the high threat of returning to their country IS members.

However, the Turkish intelligence units are also trying to track down the IS members through online websites and social media accounts, as according to information obtained by the MIT, the IS "commanders" sent encrypted messages to IS members ordering them to stage attacks in the places where they are located.

The information reportedly suggests that Turkey is on the list of places to be targeted by the IS extremist group.

Many experts consider that this significant threat is a result of the ongoing fight against the group in both Syria and Iraq, where the jihadists continue losing more grounds and members.

Iraqi Jets Drop Leaflets over Hawija, Urging IS Militants to Surrender

HAWIJA — The Iraqi Air Forces (IAF) dropped thousands of leaflets over the town of Hawija on Friday, calling on the Islamic State (IS) militants to surrender ahead of the upcoming military operation against the extremist group.

According to Iraqi Defense Ministry, the leaflets warned the group that their defeat is approaching and it would be better for them to surrender while they still can. It further suggested that the extremists have nowhere to hide and that the Iraqi forces know exactly where they are positioned.

The leaflets were dropped over the areas of Hawija and Shirqat (located about 65 kilometers west of Kirkuk city). The town of Hawija is one of IS's last remaining strongholds on the territory of Iraq, after the Iraqi forces liberated Mosul and Tel Afar in the Nineveh Province.

According to several Iraqi military commanders, the government forces are now fully prepared to launch their offensive against the IS insurgents in the area.

The Iraqi forces backed by the US-led coalition launched their series of offensives against the extremist group back in October 2016. Since then, thousands of displaced civilians have been able to return to their liberated homes.

The IS militants captured the town of Hawija in 2014, when the group first emerged in Iraq and declared its self-proclaimed "caliphate," after capturing large amounts of territory around the country.
