Newspaper confirmed ( of Times Of India ) Indian, that Iraq needs 30 thousand tons of rice in trying to get it through an international tender for the purchase.

"Iraqi grain buyers have announced an international tender to buy 30,000 tons of rice," the newspaper quoted an Indian government source as saying.

The source added that "the deadline for submission of offers is 27 August, and the search for rice from all international facilities provided that the offers remain valid until August 31."

Iraq did not buy rice in its previous bid to buy it, which was closed on July 30.

The newspaper pointed out that "the country is struggling to import grain for its food support program, after the introduction of new conditions for payment," stressing that "many rice trading companies showed their unwillingness to participate in the international tender."

According to the newspaper, Iraq is expected to produce about 250 thousand tons of rice this year, indicating that there is a deficit of about one million tons will have to be covered by imports.
