"Iraqi grain buyers have announced an international tender to buy 30,000 tons of rice," the newspaper quoted an Indian government source as saying. The source added that "the deadline for submission of offers is 27 August, and the search for rice from all international facilities provided that the offers remain valid until August 31." Iraq did not buy rice in its previous bid to buy it, which was closed on July 30. The newspaper pointed out that "the country is struggling to import grain for its food support program, after the introduction of new conditions for payment," stressing that "many rice trading companies showed their unwillingness to participate in the international tender."
