yota691
Maliki's visit to Russia has sparked a major debate inside the country and opened the wounds of huge military deals with the scents of corruption 30-07-2017 01:48 PM Readers Baghdad News - Senior politicians have moved openly in and out of the country without reverting to their party gatherings, with the aim of gathering gains that could help them maintain their leadership positions, as the voices calling for the elimination of corruption and corrupters increased. The most prominent of these movements is the visit that led the Vice President Nuri al-Maliki to Russia, where Maliki's office said it was a protocol, but the content raised large controversies inside the country, it reopened the wounds of large military deals were the smells of corruption from them. For its part, parliamentary and partisan sources criticized Maliki's behavior by not responding to the Russian foreign minister, who was late in attending the joint meeting. But the man insisted on meeting with Russian officials and President Vladimir Putin in an attempt to attract a strategic ally to support Iran in the next stage. The sources pointed out that al-Maliki, despite knowing that Russia has no role in his country, but coordinated his visit without consulting with the Iraqi government, specifically its president Haider Abadi. Perhaps Maliki, according to observers, wanted to show the sources of his power again after his tenure left a great controversy, especially in the files of corruption and the results of investigations of the fall of Mosul, which carried full responsibility, along with the massacre Spyker.
gregp
There's no reason, other than spreading Iran's influence in the region. Maliki is one evil man.

I never had a doubt in my mind that this weasel had an ulterior motive for going to Russia. Maliki wants the U.S. out of Iraq so he, Iran, Syria & Russia can control the Middle East. I am really concerned that Abadi will be assassinated before the next election by someone wanting this alliance. Why Maliki is still standing is beyond my understanding. If someone doesn't put him down there won't be political stability in Iraq and we need that. All jmho. I'll climb off my soapbox now. 🙄😊

Floridian
Maliki sought political asylum in Russia, of all places? I would never think he would do that in a million years. How many Arabs live in Russia? I doubt Maliki speaks the language. Cold in Russia. Desert in Iraq. So many huge differences! Maybe, because Russia took Snowden, Maliki figured they would give him asylum too.
