Maliki's gov't plundered billions on useless weapons - MP

Member of Parliament Hakim al-Zamili has unveiled the scale of financial corruption in Iraq at the time when Nouri al-Maliki had served as Iraq's prime minister.

In televised statements on Friday, al-Zamili said that Maliki's government has spent hundreds of dollars to buy advanced weapons and military equipment for arming the Iraqi army.    

He noted that this did not happen, adding that at the time the government has bought useless weapons and equipment through deals that senior officials signed to receive large commissions.

When Maliki was a prime minister, embezzlement and corruption were thriving, he added. Then, the contracts committee has allocated billions of dollars for buying weapons, but nothing was bought.  



It also turned out that the government has bought some of these weapons at prices higher than they deserve.

Moreover, some of the weapons were worn out or used in WWII. Some officials in the Ministry of Defense took bribes, he pointed out. 

All of the above mentioned has led to the Iraqi Army's defeat and fall of Mosul and Salahuddin governorates in ISIS grip in 2014.   

The parliamentary legal committee has recently requested the attorney general to reopen the issue of Mosul's fall in ISIS grip, a move that will lead to the trial of Iraqi officials, including former prime minister Maliki.

Wiljor, Yup already had my coffee and look forward to this "Maliki" standing trial for his crimes against the Iraqi people.   His day will come and I pray it is sooner than later and hoping he is hung by the neck very similar to "Saddam".

I don't even know how in the world a true son or daughter of Iraq has not put a bullet through his head, or even put on one of those high fashion suicide vests and walked up to him instead of  throwing stones at him..... You can throw all the stones at him you like, not gonna hurt his feelings at all. He doesn't really care about what Iraqis think of him. But in those pictures of him sitting with Iranian officials on his visits to Iran, he would be like a little kid sitting before Willy Wonka hisself!

I believe everyone knows Malarki must go.but he personally funded the Popular

militia They have been very good fighters against ISIS and nobody can predict

what they will do next.

Nothing new here. They're all on the take including those who manufacture and supply these weapons. Main reason why these wars of death and destruction will never end. Man is corrupt in nature putting his selfish motives above all others. The day of atonement is rapidly approaching.
