He told AFP that a US official said the United States imposed a few days ago on visa applicants, whatever the nationality of information on their identities and their accounts on social networking sites, in the context of militancy in the US immigration policy.

The official explained that this new procedure is valid since May 25 / May and applies to any visa applicant a US consular officer believes that he needs to information on accounts owned by the social networking sites.

But he explained that "one percent (only) of more than 13 million people annually seek to obtain visas in the world" to the United States will be affected by these new rules.

The US official added that "the State Department began collecting additional information on applicants for visas all over the world when the consular officer is that this information is necessary to confirm the specific identity."

Foreign official added that this new mechanism is based on the "Memorandum of President (Donald Trump) dating back to the sixth of March / March 2017 and deals with strengthening the control of visa applicants." According to Agence France-Presse

He also said that in a similar situation, "we will ask visa applicants to secure additional information, especially about their accounts on social networking sites and numbers previous passports and additional information about their family members and a more detailed profile of their journeys and their jobs and their contacts."
