Security forces control Zuwani Mosque in Mosul

Iraqi security forces have recaptured Zuwani Mosque in the Old City of Mosul, Commander of Federal Police LT. Gen. Raed shakir Gawdat announced on Tuesday.

In a statement, Gawdat added that the forces stormed Bab al-Baid district in the Old city on Tuesday, noting that only 1% of Mosul city remains under ISIS control.

This comes as the operation launched on 19th of February by US-backed Iraqi forces, supported by Iranian-backed sectarian IMIS Shiite militias to oust ISIS terrorists from Iraq.

ISIS terrorists kill each other after beheading number of its leaders

 

 

Clashes erupted among members of ISIS in al Hawija district in Kirkuk governorate, eyewitnesses said on Tuesday.
 

This came after the terrorist group beheaded a number of its members on Sunday including two senior leaders; Omar Khalaf Ali aka Abu Hafsa and Salem Abdel Razik Abdel Wahab.

Earlier, ISIS detained more than 100 members of its group and took them to unknown destination.

Hawija district was controlled by ISIS terrorist group in June 2014.

Video: ISIS terrorists burnt to death inside cars in Mosul

 

 

A number of ISIS terrorists who were riding cars in al Tanak district in the right bank of Mosul city of Nineveh governorate were burnt to death, a video obtained by the Baghdad Post on Tuesday showed.
 

On Monday, Iraqi forces killed 72 ISIS terrorists in Tanak district that was totally controlled by the forces.

Security forces, backed by International Coalition air raids and logistic support of the US army, have retaken eastern Mosul and most of its western part after eight months of battles. These forces are focusing now on liberating Old City's districts that are still under ISIS control.   

It is estimated that there are a few of ISIS terrorists left in the second largest city of Iraq. It is expected that they will desperately defend the last pocket of the city that has been once their main stronghold in Iraq.

Exclusive: Map reveals latest developments in Mosul's battle

An updated version of Mosul's map showing the latest developments in the battle to oust ISIS from occupied districts in the city's right bank has been obtained by The Baghdad Post on Tuesday.

The areas in green illustrate the completely regained ones, areas in orange show the areas currently witnessing clashes while the areas in white are still controlled by ISIS terrorist group. 

The commander of the Counter Terror Service (CTS) Abdel-Ghani al-Assadi said on Monday that the terror group of ISIS is moving in an area which does not exceed two kilometers in Mosul.



Security forces, backed by International Coalition air raids and logistic support of the US army, have retaken eastern Mosul and most of its western part after eight months of battles. These forces are focusing now on liberating Old City's districts that are still under ISIS control.

Heroic Iraqi officer that saved countless lives has been identified

BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:30 A.M.) – An Iraqi police officer saved dozens of lives, Monday, when he blocked the path of a suicide bomber that was attempting to enter a crowded mosque in the Musayeb District of Babel.

The officer hugged the suicide bomber to prevent him from entering the mosque, but not before the terrorist detonated his explosive belt and killed them both.

According to Iraqi activists, the officer was identified as ‘Alaa Al-Janabi, a veteran member of the Babel police force.

ISIS militants have been issued with “passports to heaven” as the group tries to cling on to its self-declared capital, the Sun reported on Tuesday.

Brainwashed fighters believe they will be rewarded with a harem of virgins in paradise if they die fighting to protect ISIS.



 On the front it says “No God but Allah, Muhammed is the Messenger of God” and “Passport to Paradise”.

Syrian Defence Force soldiers liberating neighbourhoods of the northern Syrian city of Raqqa – the terrorist group’s self-proclaimed capital – have found the passports.




ISIS hand their squads of suicide attackers the passports to motivate them to carry out terror attacks wearing explosive belts or driving bomb-laden cars.

 

By giving their suicide attackers the passports, ISIS has managed to convince them that following their death, their entry into the heaven will be guaranteed.



 The documents contain no personal information about the bearer but it is written in the passports that their owners are only allowed to travel to heaven, and not hell.

They also include words of encouragement for the terrorists to carry out suicide missions.

The respected underground movement Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently also confirmed they had come across the documents.



 The terror group recently exploded a bomb outside an ice cream shop in Baghdad filled with women and kids celebrating Ramadan, killing at least 15 people and injuring 50.

A chilling new ISIS execution video shows brainwashed children as young as EIGHT being forced to shoot prisoners in the head.

It recently emerged graves and monuments to fallen British servicemen were smashed in a mindless rampage by the militants.

Iraqi air force destroys secret ISIS HQ in Diyala

 

 

A number of ISIS terrorists were injured when the Iraqi warplanes shelled a secret ISIS headquarters in northeastern Diyala governorate, a local source said on Tuesday.
 

The air raid was launched in coordination with the 20^th Brigades of the 5^th Division of the Iraqi army.

The source asserted that there are still a number of ISIS headquarters that were not identified yet by the Iraqi forces.

Civilians face death, hunger in western Mosul

“I fled from al-Zanjili district with the help of our neighbors, leaving behind my father and two of my siblings. I still do not know what happened to them. There has been news that they were killed in the mass murders as they were fleeing the government forces at dawn on Saturday, June 3, 2017, Al-Monitor quoted the 5-year-old Doha (a psuedonym) as saying on Tuesday.

Doha was accompanied by one of the aid workers in the vicinity of Hammam al-Alil camp, where the federal police had sent her.

On June 8, as Iraqi joint forces stormed the Old City of Mosul, the last area of the city under control of the ISIS concerns have been raised about the 100,000 civilians trapped in the densely populated city center.



Bruno Geddo, the Iraq representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), said on June 16 that the civilians in Mosul's Old City, where the militants are surrounded by Iraqi forces, are "basically held as human shields." 

"There is hardly any food, water, electricity or fuel. These civilians are living in an increasingly worsening situation of penury and panic because they are surrounded by fighting," he told Reuters. 

Activists working in Hammam al-Alil camp said that about 40,000 children had lost their families while fleeing from ISIS in western Mosul.

Rezan al-Sheikh, the rapporteur for the parliamentary Children’s Affairs Committee, confirmed that 40,000 children were separated from their parents in the fighting.



“Some of these children are with relatives and others are with the security forces. Some families took it upon themselves to take care of them until the battles are over. I believe that a large number of the parents of these children were killed at the hands of ISIS,” Sheikh said.


In western Mosul, civilians live in difficult conditions. They do not receive any food because of ISIS’ monthslong siege.


On May 8, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights issued a brief report on the situation of those trapped in Mosul and spoke about the rise of mass killings ISIS has perpetrated against civilians.


“Shooting children as they try to run to safety with their families — there are no words of condemnation strong enough for such despicable acts,” Zeid Raad al-Hussein, the UN high commissioner for human rights, said in a comment in the report.


Member of parliament Adel Khamis Mahlawi said in a press conference June 7, “There are tens of thousands of civilians still trapped in Mosul and suffering from complete lack of food and medicine, not to mention their deadly situation under the fire of war.”


According to human rights reports quoting eyewitnesses in the Old City of western Mosul, ISIS members executed some families. “They had no choice but to die,” said Omar al-Zuhairi, a cousin of the Zuhairi family, who lost five of their sons in the recent Zanjili district massacre, in which at least 250 people were killed.


Zuhairi added ISIS sent death threats to three members of the Zuhairi family as it accused them of cooperating with the security forces. They denied the accusations and decided to escape, but they were killed on their way as they were trying to flee.”

An officer who is leading a regiment in the federal police, which continues to carry out liberation operations in Zanjili district, said on condition of anonymity. “The security forces are trying to protect civilians as much as possible and to open safe corridors. However, ISIS has been using snipers and mortars in the fighting,” said the officer.

On June 3, UNICEF representative in Iraq, Peter Hawkins, said, “UNICEF is receiving alarming reports of civilians being killed, including children, with some caught in the crossfire, while trying to flee.”

“The lives of children there are at risk. They are being killed and wounded and used as human shields. They are witnessing terrible violence that no one should see,” he added.


The number of those who are still living in the neighborhoods of Zanjili, al-Shifaa and the Old City is estimated at 100,000 civilians, according to a counterterrorism officer.

The officer, who is based in western Mosul, said, ISIS has been threatening the people who are still stuck that they will be shot at if they flee in the direction of the Iraqi security forces.”


The officer added, “When we surround ISIS-controlled areas, we open safe corridors for civilians, but ISIS members deliberately plant explosive devices and deploy snipers on the roads near the corridors to kill anyone who tries to escape.”


On June 3, the Iraqi security forces opened a safe road for civilians in Zanjili district. ISIS fighters were positioned in a tall medical building and opened fire on people taking the road, killing many.




 ISIS continues to use the people stuck in the areas under its control as human shields. In addition, civilians trapped in Mosul are also dying of hunger.

Miles away from the confrontation lines, Doha is still looking with her relatives and aid workers for her family, whom she lost a week ago. She said, “I would die if I could not find my family.”

Advanced Iraqi forces on Tuesday towards the bank of the river, the ancient city of Mosul, the main goal in the eight - month campaign to restore the city, announced by the organization of "Daesh", his capital, while the Iraqi prime minister said he expected victory too soon .
