Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi said on Thursday the Iraqi armed forces would fully liberate Mosul from ISIS terrorists within a few days, The Baghdad Post reported.

Iraqi army, backed by the US-led international coalition, launched on Feb.19th an offensive to recapture Mosul's right bank from ISIS grip.

Iran-allied IMIS militias are supporting the Iraqi army.

Mosul fell to ISIS in 2014.

Iraqi former PM Nouri al-Maliki faces accusations of colluding with the terror group.

US-led Coalition responds to ISIS' destruction of Mosul's Nuri Mosque

US-led Coalition has responded on Thursday to ISIS' destruction of Mosul' Great al-Nuri Mosque in the right bank of Mosul, denying any shelling operations in the area.

The mosque was well known as the place where ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi made his infamous speech announcing the so-called caliphate on July 4, 2014.

"As our Iraqi Security Force partners closed in on the al-Nuri mosque, ISIS destroyed one of Mosul’s and Iraq's great treasures,” said Army Maj. Gen. Joseph M. Martin, commanding general of Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command-Operation Inherent Resolve.

“This is a crime against the people of Mosul and all of Iraq, and is an example of why this brutal organization must be annihilated,” Martin said.

“The responsibility of this devastation is laid firmly at the doorstep of ISIS, and we continue to support our Iraqi partners as they bring these terrorists to justice. However, the battle for the liberation of Mosul is not yet complete, and we remain focused on supporting the ISF with that objective in mind."

The mosque had stood in Mosul for over eight centuries, and its famous leaning minaret earned the city of Mosul the nickname “the hunchback.”

The US-led coalition is working by, with, and through the government of Iraq to defeat ISIS in Mosul and throughout Iraq.

The coalition contributes to the defeat of ISIS by providing the Iraqi forces with equipment, training, intelligence and surveillance, precision fire support and military advice to leaders.

The coalition has enabled the Iraqi Security Forces to reclaim over 47,000 square kilometers of their land from ISIS for the people of Iraq.

Assassination wave returns to Mosul's Hamam al-Alil – Source

State of insecurity in Iraq
State of insecurity in Iraq

Hamam al-Alil town, located in southern Mosul, is witnessing a wave of assassinations, a security source told The Baghdad Post on Thursday.

The source said that ISIS terrorists had killed the head of al-Abd village and another civilian in Hamam al-Alil town.

Brigadier-General Amer al-Mohsen has been killed when a fight erupted between him and Tribal Crowd in his village, al-Zawiya, located in al-Qayara town, southern Mosul, the source added.

ISIS terror group has captured large swathes of Iraq since 2014. Since then, Iraqi cities are witnessing a state of insecurity and chaos as terror attacks target civilians.

The fight to retake Mosul, which has been a key ISIS stronghold, was launched more than eight months ago.

It is estimated that there are a few of ISIS terrorists left in the second largest city of Iraq. It is expected that they will desperately defend the last pocket of the city that has been once their main stronghold in Iraq.

Iraqi security forces freed over 7,000 civilians from ISIS terrorists at al-Farouq neighborhood in the Old City of Mosul district in the right bank of Mosul, Counter-terrorism Special Forces Commander Gen, Ma'an al-Sa'adi announced on Thursday.

He asserted that these civilians were sent to security checkpoints, so they could check their identities over fears of ISIS sleeper cells hiding among them. Then they will be sent to displacement camps.

These efforts come as part of an offensive launched on 19th of February by the US-backed Iraqi security forces, supported by Iranian-backed sectarian IMIS Shiite militias, to oust ISIS terrorists from Mosul, their last major stronghold in Iraq.

That breaks my heart. I would adopt them if I could. Adoption would be impossible because of the PC bull that runs this nation now a days.

We ALL KNOW who some of the key Political Figures are that allowed ISIS to become established in the first place. I hope we're ALL ALIVE to see the KARMA that will be visited on them for their atrocities.

" The JV Team " & " what difference does it make ? " - these are 2 people that really got it coming to them.

Just to let everyone know, there will be NO CHANGE in monetary policy (RV/RD) while ISIS is still present in Iraq.

I came to post about the mosque destruction in Mosul but you guys got it.....

See, they're not even out of Mosul yet.

They will never eliminate all of ISIS in Iraq. There will always be some cell or it will morph in to something else.  There will always be some group that is unhappy with the GOI.  It is just a question, at what point do they feel comfortable enough to do something about the currency.
