Iraqi jets shell bridge in Rawa, Anbar, to cut IS supply from the north

 

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi jets have shelled a pivotal bridge in Anbar, cutting the Islamic State’s supply coming from the north, a local source from the province said.

“Iraqi jets bombed on Sunday the only bridge in Rawa city,” the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AlSumaria News. “The bridge is located on Euphrates River. It links between the center of the city to the northern desert.”

“A part of the bridge fell into Euphrates River due to the shelling,” he added. Iraqi troops “have cut IS supply to the city coming from the northern side in the desert.”

On Saturday, a senior Iraqi officer was quoted as saying that a military operation was launched to drive IS militants out of the western regions in Anbar province.

Iraqi troops were able to return life back to normal in the biggest cities of Anbar including Fallujah, Ramadi and others after recapturing them. However, Anbar’s western cities of Annah, Qaim and Rawa are still held by the extremist group since 2014, when it emerged to proclaim a self-styled Islamic Caliphate.

Fighter jets from the Iraqi army and the international coalition have also regularly pounded IS locations in the province.

A group of ISIS terrorists surrendered in districts of Mosul's Old City after the security forces begun a military operation to recapture ISIS' last stronghold in the city and Iraq, Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday. Top ISIS leader Kanaan Jiyad Abdullah Abu Amna, in charge of  checkpoints in Nineveh Governorate, was killed in Bab Jadid district, located in Mosul's right bank, security sources told The Baghdad Post. Earlier this morning, it was reported that Counter Terrorism Service (CTS) forces have begun to push deep into the districts of Mosul's Old City. Security forces, backed by International Coalition air raids and logistic support system" rel="">support of the US army, have retaken eastern Mosul and most of its western part after eight months of battles. These forces are focusing now on controlling the Old City's districts.

Since these terrorist surrendered they need to be held til Mosul is liberated. Then everyone of them should all be locked up in a building with iron bars over windows and doors.  With ieds where ever they may try and escape and left with no water or food. I read on one thread where ISIS held some women and children hostage and some had died from starvation. Showed a boy about 8-10 yrs old. and he looked dead.I Bet some young ISIS fighters are the ones they kidnapped and brainwashed them. Some Sunnies were told to fight for them or their families would be killed.  May God protect and keep the civilians  as safe as possible from the hell they are in now. Hope the 3 tribes will unite, they have a better I think then USA has of uniting!!!!!!!!

Mosul - New Zealand Brigadier General Hugh McAsian admitted that the U.S.-led coalition used white phosphorus during its operations in the Iraqi city of Mosul.

 

 

 

 

McAsian said that around 28,000 civilians have managed to reach safety from Islamic State(IS) held territory during the last few days. He claimed: "We have utilized white phosphorus to screen areas within west Mosul to get civilians out safely." This is the first confirmation that the white phosphorus has been used in Mosul. Although the coalition claims to have control now of 90 percent of western Mosul the UN claims there are still tens of thousands of civilians trapped in an enclave controlled by the IS.

 

Amnesty International has warned that the use of white phosphorus to produce smoke screens carries a deadly risk in urban settings noting that white phosphorus can cause "terrific injuries, burning deep into the muscle and bone". Sometimes the substance ignites weeks after being deployed creating even more danger. Amnesty documented the use of white phosphorus east of Mosul in 2016 and warned that its use near population centers "constitutes an indiscriminate attack and can be a war crime".

 

White phosphorus is not banned under the Chemical Weapons Convention(CWC) but its legality is linked to the manner of its use. In 2005 Peter Kaiser a CWC spokesperson said that the phosphorus can be used to camouflage movement but should not be employed as a weapon. The U.S. admitted it used white phosphorus in the 2004 battle for Falujah in Iraq and also In Afghanistan in 2009. Israel used it in the 2008 Gaza war. Israel has signed but not ratified the CWC. Neither Egypt, North Korea, or South Sudan have even signed the agreement. Israel pledged in 2013 not to use white phosphorus any more.

 

There are also allegations that white phosphorus is being used in Syria in the fight for the city of Raqqa held by the IS. An IS-linked media outlet Amaq has released footage that purports to show white phosphorus raining down on the city by night. While Amnesty International has not as yet been able to confirm the authenticity of the video footage it is nevertheless urging U.S.-led forces not to use the phosphorus in areas where civilians are trapped. One supporter of the campaign against the IS said that residents in the city are desperate for leaflets telling them where they can shelter during bombing campaigns.

 

The intensified air strikes on Raqqa are taking a huge toll on civilians. The UN reports the strikes have killed at least 300 civilians in Raqqa since March. Paulo Pinheiro, chair of the UN Commission of Inquiry said: "We note in particular that the intensification of air strikes, which have paved the ground for an SDF advance in Raqqa, has resulted not only in staggering loss of civilian life, but has also led to 160,000 civilians fleeing their homes and becoming internally displaced."

Twilight News / urged the Iraqi army through leaflets dropped by aircraft on the old city of Mosul militants organize Daesh lay down their arms and surrender to preserve their lives and not to shed the blood of Muslims.

And seal the publication, the site on behalf of the commander of the coming campaign, O Nineveh, Lieutenant-General Abdul Amir Yar God, saying, "ruled the mind Ptgamh survival."

Iraqi forces began at dawn today stormed the old Mosul complex with narrow alleys that military vehicles can not enter the population as well as overcrowding.

Federal Police said earlier today that its troops penetrated the defenses Daesh and advanced 150 meters deep in the area.

IRAQI ARMY LAUNCHES OPERATION TO CLEAR WESTERN ANBAR REGIONS FROM IS

Iraq, June 18, 2017 A military operation was launched to drive Islamic State militants out of western regions in Anbar province, a senior Iraqi officer was quoted as saying. “Military offensive was launched on Saturday to clear Annah and Rawa cities, west of Anbar. Eight IS militants were killed after troops invaded these regions and destroyed three booby-trapped vehicles,” Maj.Gen.Noaman al-Wube’y, commander of the seventh division of the Iraqi army in Anbar told DPA. The operation, according to Wube’y, is ongoing to clear the regions in west of Anbar. Meanwhile, Anbar Operations Command declared foiling an attack by IS against military troops west of Rutba in Anbar. Speaking to AlSumaria News on Saturday, Maj.Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi said “the first division of army thwarted an attack by IS against units in Okshat crossroads, west of Rutba.” “Two IS vehicles were destroyed, while militants inside were killed,” he added. Dozens of ISIS terrorists surrender in Mosul's right bank- Source

Dozens of ISIS terrorists have surrendered to the Iraqi security forces in Mosul's right bank, a security source revealed on Monday. 

In a press statement, the source said that within the next few hours the full liberation of Mosul will be declared and the forces will raise the flag over al-Hadba Minaret, located in Mosul's Old City.   

Security forces, backed by International Coalition air raids and logistic support of the US army, have retaken eastern Mosul and most of its western part after eight months of battles. These forces are focusing now on controlling the Old City's districts.
  
It is estimated that there are a few of ISIS terrorists left in the second largest city of Iraq. It is expected that they will desperately defend the last pocket of the city that has been once their main stronghold in Iraq.

ISIS Finance Minister Fawaz Al Rawy has been confirmed killed in a US-led coalition airstrike in western Anbar governorate, security sources told The Baghdad Post on Monday. 

Al Rawy was put on the US list of terrorism.

Top ISIS leader killed, mosque recaptured in Old Mosul

Commander of Federal Police Forces announced Monday a top ISIS terrorist had been killed in Old Mosul city and an important mosque had been recaptured. 

Lt Gen Raed Shaker Jawdat said in a statement his forces killed Abku Bakr al-Masry and retook al-Hadin Mosque in Old Mosul. 

He added the forces were keeping pushing deep in the city. 

On February 19th, the Iraqi army, backed by the US-led international coalition and Iran-allied IMIS militias, launched an offensive to recapture the right bank of Mosul. 

Mosul fell to ISIS in June 2014. 

Iraqi military officials confirmed the offensive code-named 'We Are Coming, Nineveh' had managed to retake most of the ISIS-held areas.

A security source in the city of Mosul on Monday that dozens of terrorists surrendered to security forces in the right side. 

The source said in a press statement, said that 'dozens of elements of the terrorist organization Daesh in the old city last stronghold Daesh Mosul surrendered to the joint forces'. 

The source added that ' the next few hours will see the edit area will be announced in full Thariralamousel and will raise the Iraqi flag over a beacon of humpback'.
