Iraq wants to store oil in the Sultanate of Oman

 

 

Economy News Baghdad:  Revealed an oil source international, Thursday, the Sultanate of Oman is seeking to sign a deal with Iraq to store Iraqi oil and exported easily to the Asian market. The source said in a statement seen by the "Economy News", that "Oman is seeking to sign a deal with Iraq strategy this week, oil storage as part of its plan to expand its outlets for the export of oil with their access to the Asian market outlets." He added that the "memorandum of understanding that the Sultanate of Oman is seeking to sign with Iraq does not oblige the Iraqi oil company in any terms of trade only to grant Oman another element in its plan to expand commercial outlets identified last year to expand commercial Duqm area by 15% on the two thousand kilometer area that includes facilities for storage oil at the wharf to the head of the center of crude oil in the port of Duqm. " He explained that "on the basis of the expansion project that extends 1,600 hectares, the storage facilities at the wharf Ras center will be ready to accommodate more than 200 million barrels of crude oil." On the other hand, said the Middle East Research Center in the report, that "the strategic position of the pier head of crude oil center provides easy access and vital to the markets of South Asia and the markets of the Far East and Africa, as well as an easy passage for oil producers in the Middle East, and will place strategic oil storage area meet the needs of producers oil in the region. "

That takes the potential Iranian chokehold off of the Persian gulf delivery route. So, the oil/money will flow for at least 6-8 weeks regardless of any potential Iranian blockades--assuming they build that fleet of tankers. That storage and the overland export pipelines will help to diminish Iranian shenanigans.

We can only hope the Iraqis are keen enough to avoid future issues by learning from past history. However, international friends and family may have told them to do this.

 

Another thought that crossed my mind is tensions with Iran may heat up and the Strait of Hormuz would put a monkey wrench in Iraq oil shipments by an Iranian blockade. With the recent talk of Iraq going to a whooping 8 million barrels per day at some point, I wonder if the huge uptick in Iraqi oil volume is to replace what is to be shut off from Iran.

 

Just thinking out loud here.
