I bring you much news today.   
 
Revealed Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi will head the Iraqi delegation at the Arab summit, which begins next Wednesday in the Jordanian capital, Amman, instead of the President of the Republic Fuad Masum.
 
He said al-Jaafari, who arrived in Amman yesterday in a press statement, that in the quiver Abadi ideas and news must reach the summit, a respect for her to listen to the Executive the man first in the country, adding that the president remains infallible person is respected Iraq’s sovereignty by the Constitution.

(hurray! So we watch and wait to see what the CBI does next. In my last two newsletters I presented some evidence that something (a big currency move) is planned for the very near future.)
 
As many of you know I do not support this notion of a GCR. It is just  someone’s notion and misunderstanding of what is actually going on in the world’s monetary system and why and how they are trying to correct it. But I fear for all those that are relying on these collectible currencies and think they will be able to someday take them to the bank and exchange them for US dollars. Really? Can you be that stupid? Take for example the old expired Zimbabwe ZIM currency. I hear on these conference calls that so many people are even cashing in IQD, losing money on the transaction, then taking what is left over and buying ZIM. Are you crazy people? What are you doing? Who is advising you to do this?
 
So in the midst of all this buying frenzy and stupidity I need to address this issue today. Don’t you all know the time period for exchanging the older ZIM notes 2008/2009 has expired? These notes are now worthless. No – they are not active “bonds” notes that can be redeemed in the future. Who is telling you this nonsense? Yes – in the past they did issue these 2008/2009 notes as part of a program in that period to try to fund their debt and did finance bonds to back these notes they printed. But these days are long gone and the value of these bonds is gone, expired, gone, get it?
 
I mean they are totally worthless – like of no value other than for hobby collecting. There is no magic potion or deal with the USA or Zimbabwe that is going to allow the banks to exchange worthless paper for USD. Get it! Do I need to say it again? Refuse to listen to sanity? When President Robert Mugabe scrapped the Zimbabwe dollar in 2009, most of his people thought this meant the end of runaway money-printing and hyperinflation that had rendered the currency worthless. They may have been wrong.

Adoption of the U.S. dollar and South African rand eight years ago brought financial discipline and currency stability to the country; today the old 100,000,000,000,000 Zimbabwe dollar note holds nothing but curiosity value. (This is not a conspiracy to try to fool or trick you…they are worthless! Get it? Stop buying them!)

Yet behind the scenes the authorities are once again busy creating their own money from nothing, economists and opposition politicians say. This has allowed the government to borrow heavily via treasury bills to pay a huge civil service, on whose loyalty Mugabe has relied during his 37 years in charge. (here ya go again. Massive debt for Zimbabwe. What is going on here? Why can’t they kick start their economy? They were given another chance to do it.)

Last year Zimbabwe launched a surrogate currency, paper 'bond notes' which are designed to ease acute shortages of U.S. and South African cash in the country. This program is backed by a $200 million loan from the African Export Import Bank.

But the central bank is also creating dollar surrogates in the electronic banking system on a far grander scale, and this money lacks the backing of sufficient currency reserves or gold - the prerequisite of any stable unit.

It is these electronic dollars, nicknamed "zollars" by economists, that are raising fears that Zimbabwe might be heading for its second financial collapse in a decade.

"It's a Ponzi scheme, a pyramid scheme," (wow! this sounds like the 2008 mortgage crisis from USA) former finance minister Tendai Biti told Reuters. "The implosion is coming. You can't defy economics. You can't defy fundamentals." (The USA is in for the same reality soon and is going down the same road! Read this article carefully. It is also the fate of the USA. I would attempt to explain to everyone what is really going on here with these massive debt and how the USA became a debtor nation but I can see I can talk for days and days and no one is listening anyhow..so why bother. You all will get just what you deserve from those that are behind the scenes orchestrating this massive USA debt. Yes- it is intentional, just like balancing a budget and being able to limit debt also can be intentional. The key part of intentional is “intent” – what is the intent. Get it? )

Iraqi command: western Mosul battle finished “on the military level”
 
Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi security command leading operations against Islamic State in Mosul has said the battle in the west of the city was concluded on the military level.
 
A spokesperson of the Joint Operations Command, Yahia Rasoul, was quoted by Alghad Press Mondaysaying that “western Mosul is done on the military level”, adding that “what is left to do is to purge the remaining areas”.
 
The remaining Islamic State members in the western side of Mosul are “gangs remnants that are targeted accurately by security forces”. He repeated accusations that the group continued to us civilians as human shields to hold off advancements by security forces.
 
Iraqi army and police forces, backed by a U.S.-led coalition and paramilitary troops, recaptured eastern Mosul in January after three months of fighting, and proceed mid February towards the west to retake the region and end IS presence in Iraq’s second largest city.
 
Iraqi and coalition commanders had predicted battles in the west to see victory within six months, and have reiterated that IS combat capabilities continued to wane despite fierce resistance its fighters showed.
 
The conflict in Mosul has displaced at least 433.000 since October, with more than 200.000 having left the western area alone.

The report by US President Donald Trump to Congress on the reconstruction of cities liberated from the control of a terrorist organization in Iraq in exchange for oil has been learned from high-level diplomatic sources.
 
The sources told Mawazine News that “Trump submitted his project, which contained more than 100 paragraphs, to Congress and is now awaiting approval for the start of implementation,” noting that “the project included the reconstruction of Iraq in all areas of civil and urban infrastructure (Agriculture, industry, roads, bridges) and others. “
 
“Trump seeks to make Iraq a unique model in the Middle East,” the sources said, adding that “American companies will be the ones who will carry out these projects, while some may be given to Arab and Iraqi companies.” (It’s about time we are hearing about this effort of the USA. If Trump did not may this policy, I would seriously wonder about his sanity…lol…)
 
The sources pointed out that “the estimated value of the cost of urban reconstruction amounted to about 500 billion dollars and will be deducted from the value of Iraqi oil at a price agreed between the US and Iraqi governments,” saying that “US agencies will work exclusively to protect these companies, Of the cost of projects. “ (Don’t forget there are also more oil credits to USA at $32/barrel once you exchange your dinars)
 
The sources said that “US forces operating in Iraq will deal with any body carrying weapons outside the state as a terrorist organization.”

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Haider Abadi visited on Monday (March 20, 2017), Washington, DC, while he met President Trump and a number of US officials.

 

Vice announces completion of national reconciliation law: Search now for the next phase of the forces involved - Implementation

A member of the Commission on Reconciliation and Accountability Parliamentary, Mohammed Naji, on Monday, that no reconciliation with those who stained their hands with the blood of Iraqis, pointing out that the reconciliation committee parliamentary working to create a national consensus with the political forces that are part of the government and the political process in the next phase. (This is their next challenge now that Mosul is all but liberated, as they announced on Monday)

Naji said for "Tomorrow 's Press," said that "national reconciliation project has been achieved, and now we are searching for the forces that can be part of the government and the political process in the next stage." 

He added that "no reconciliation and dialogue with terrorism and with their hands stained with the blood of Iraqis," adding that "those not for us but to fight with them, to receive their just punishment." 

And that "those who committed crimes against Iraqis can not be reconciled with him and can not be any talks with him , " explaining that " the national reconciliation project already achieved, and we are now in the process of finding the forces in all provinces to build a consensus for the next phase."
 
UK MP: “Huge potential for growth in Iraq”
 
“Huge potential for growth in the area”
So firstly, why should we be seeking to do business in Iraq?
I believe that it’s absolutely vital that we improve our trading relations across the Middle East. The reasons are simple.
 
It’s good for our overall economy, it will be good for your businesses, and it will help bring stability and security to the region and here at home. And there’s huge potential for growth in this area. Although Iraq is not yet a member of the WTO, which has its own short-term challenges, its eventual accession will enhance structural and Iraq’s reintegration into the multilateral trading system. The organizations who gain most from engaging with this emerging market will be those which have a stronger base to build from when Iraq’s WTO status is confirmed.
 
While it’s not yet clear what the effect of Brexit will be on the EU-Iraq Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, no matter what status that agreement will have it’s clear that there will be a political and economic imperative to agree a successor deal for organizations based in the UK either in parallel to Brexit negotiations, or as soon as possible after Brexit is concluded.
 
Total bilateral trade between the EU and Iraq amounted to over €16.1 billion in 2015. EU imports from Iraq were worth €11.1 billion in 2015. Oil imports represent up to 99.7% of all EU imports from Iraq. The EU is the fourth-largest source of imports for Iraq followed by Turkey, Syria and China. The EU exported €5 billion worth of goods to Iraq in 2015. EU exports to Iraq are dominated by machinery and transport equipment, chemicals, food and live animals. As part of this trade, the UK has a substantial trade surplus with Iraq: we export more than we import. UK exports to Iraq in 2015 amounted to £609 million, whilst imports from Iraq to the UK amounted to £187 million.
 
Over the past couple of years Scottish based companies like Agreko, the Weir Group and the Wood Group have already made significant investments in Iraq, leading the way for others to follow. The recent partnership with IBBC and the Aberdeen Chambers of Commerce should help to build new relationships and understanding of how firms can capitalize on the skills and experience they have developed in the North Sea to expand in this new market.
 
But while this figure is growing, UK Exports to Iraq are under-performing in relation to our European allies. We are 17% of the EU economy, but provide only 12% of the EU’s current exports.
 
There is huge room for improvement – especially given the relative size of our oil and gas industry, and the enormous potential for the export of expertise and technology forged in the North Sea over the past few decades. Hydrocarbons account for nearly two-thirds of Iraq’s GDP and almost all of its exports.
 
After experiencing years of embargo and conflict, Iraq’s economy is now on the way to recovery. While GDP decreased by 2.7% in 2014 due to a decline in economic activity in the areas under the control of the Islamic State (ISIS), the stagnation of government spending and the drop in oil prices, growth is now expected to increase slightly in the short term, due to the rise in oil exports.
 
The World Bank’s latest economic forecast expected Iraq to bounce back in 2016, growing at 7.2% in that year and continuing at around 5% in the next few years. This is driven by the projected ramp-up in oil production, increase in oil-related FDI, structural reforms, implementation of the IMF program, and a lessening of security risks. With the security situation now improving, and the oil price on the rise – the indicators are moving in the right direction for Iraq’s economy.
 
This is not to underestimate the potential impact of future world events, the global environment, social and political developments, and the Da’esh insurgency, but our recent experience seems to see light at the end of the tunnel.
 
So the potential is there, we have success stories in place and the future for Iraq appears brighter than it has for some time. 
 
“Iraq’s economy is now on the way to recovery”
Back in Scotland, we have our own new set of opportunities for business and wider society to take advantage of.
 
The First Minister’s announcement yesterday has presented Scotland’s electorate with a clear choice between two futures. One would see us removed from the EU and the single market against our will, and pushed over the social and economic cliff as a result of a hard Brexit. In this scenario, Scotland will be recast as a bit part in Nigel Farage’s vision of Little Britain. The other would see the people who care most about Scotland, that is everyone who has chosen to live and work in Scotland, would get to make the decisions about Scotland’s future.
 
So my message to you about Scotland’s future is clear.

An Independent Scotland would seek to build on our strengths. We would be outward looking, not inward looking. We’d seek to play a positive, modern role in the world, not attempting to rebuild Empires of ages past. This is good news for the oil and gas sector in particular, for rather than viewing your industry, this vital industry, as a cash cow to prop up UK Chancellor’s balance sheets, we’d do all we can to support and develop the industry to its enormous and full potential. A strong oil industry is in Scotland’s interests. It will play a vital role in our future success. And because of that the needs of the industry will be front and center of our thinking for the future. We can see that this approach has worked for our friends across the North Sea in Norway, and I see no reason at all why, if we work in partnership with the industry here, we can’t make it work for Scotland.

Lastly, I’ve been asked to speak a little about how to get more women in business.

Not only are you benefiting from female leadership in your President, Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, but Angelique Lecorps efforts through chairing your Women in Business group within the IBBC is to be commended.

 

$22bn US-Iraq Arms Deal Agreed

The Iraqi government has received the consent of the U.S. Department of State to buy American weapons in the form of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) worth more than $22 billion over a 12 year period according to reports.
     
The United States has been Iraq’s primary arms supplier since 2005, with arms exports in 2016 including 146 M1A1 Main Battle Tanks, 36 F-16 fighter aircraft, 24 IA407 helicopters, and 9 C-130 cargo aircraft.
     
American arms exports to the Iraqi government last year also included an F-16 munitions package of short-range air-to-air missiles, laser-guided bombs and air-to-ground tactical missiles.
     
The U.S. State Department released a fact sheet on March 22 saying Congress has provided Iraq with funding of over $2 billion in the form of Foreign Military Financing (FMF) following the end of the last round of funding in 2012 by the Department of Defence.
   
 “These funds were originally intended to build up Iraq’s long-term sustainment and logistics capabilities, and for Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) professionalization and other essential training however they were also critical to the Iraqi effort to blunt IS’s advance.”
     
Additionally, on March 25, the Iraqi Defence Ministry announced the arrival of four F-16 fighter jets to Balad Air Base in Salah-al-din Province as part of the deal with the USA. The defence ministry stated that “This is the fifth batch, with the new arrivals raising the total number of F-16 fighter jets in the Iraqi Air Force to 18“.
 
 
Abadi says he wants to keep an American force in Iraq
Prime Minister Haider al-Abbadi expressed his support for the survival of part of the US forces in Iraq in order to support the Iraqi forces after the defeat and the liberation of Mosul. “Iraqi forces need US troops to continue their training, logistical support and intelligence cooperation,” Abadi told Fox News in an interview published on Sunday.
 
Since the occupation of Mosul in 204, the United States deployed 5,000 troops in different parts of Iraq within the framework of the International Alliance. Asked about the possibility of 1,000 American soldiers remaining, Abadi said, “a little more.”
 
The Prime Minister stressed that during his visit to the White House last week, he felt a commitment by the US administration and Congress to support Baghdad in its war against an oppressive organization.
Abadi predicted during his meeting with the US station months to defeat the military dizziness in a few weeks, pointing out that at the same time that “the Daash will continue to exist until removed from Syria and other parts of the Middle East.”
 
“We are going to defeat them now militarily, but they will try to continue as a terrorist organization, so we need help from others to expel them from Syria and other areas,” he said, adding that President Obama did not want to take part in the war against Da’ash. 40 percent of Iraqi territory.

“Obama wanted to forget about Iraq, I mean the massacres that took place against our people have generated great pressure on President Obama,” Abadi said. “The United States is now determined to defeat Iraq,” he said, adding that “the United States and Iraq are allies, which made the decision to ban Trump the first to travel Iraqis seems unacceptable.”

US military officials told ABC News that the Pentagon plans to send two extra troops to Iraq to help Iraqi forces fight for the return of Mosul. It is estimated that there are about 200 to 300 soldiers.
 
“Additional elements from the 82nd Airborne Division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, will go to Iraq on a temporary mission to provide additional support and advice to Iraqi forces,” said Col. Joseph Sacroka, a coalition spokesman, adding that “these are not adding new combat capability as much as they are Provide more advice and assistance to our Iraqi partners. ”
 
The unit from the 82nd Airborne Division currently has 1,700 troops based in Iraq and Kuwait, helping to advise and support Iraqi forces. (oh wait a second! Didn’t the Iraqi general just tell us yesterday that the military operations in Mosul are completed? I quote from the article - “Iraqi command: western Mosul battle finished “on the military level”   Quotes:  “western Mosul is done on the military level”, adding that “what is left to do is to purge the remaining areas”.So how can there be such contradictory statements in the news? If the battles are over them why do they need more advisors and support? What is really going on in Iraq and Syria?)
Reports last week indicated the Pentagon’s intention to send some 1,000,000 extra troops from the 2nd Combat Brigade for advice and support for the Mosul battle.

Iraqi special forces and police fought Islamic State militants to edge closer to the al-Nuri mosque in western Mosul on Wednesday, tightening their control around the landmark site in the battle to recapture Iraq's second city, military commanders said.
 
The close-quarters fighting is focused on the Old City surrounding the mosque where Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi proclaimed a caliphate nearly three years ago across territory controlled by the group in both Iraq and Syria
