tigergorzow
Khazali warns gov't against dismantling IMIS March 24 2017 11:05 AM Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq's leader Qais Khazali Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq militia's leader Qais Khazali warned Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi against dismantling IMIS militia after the liberation of Mosul from ISIS terrorists. This threat asserts the Iranian outrage after Abadi's statement from Washington that laid the possibility of dismantling IMIS militias. In press statements, Khazali said that IMIS includes Iraqis from tribes and universities from all of Iraq's governorates, noting that the militias are under pressure from US malicious conspiracies. Khazali threats come after Sadrist Movement's leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, called for dismantling of Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) after the liberation of Mosul. Al-Sadr also urged Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi to strongly resist IMIS backers' pressures for the sake of Iraq's future. Khazali is best known as the founder of the Iranian-backed Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Militia in Iraq from June 2006 until his capture by American forces in March 2007. He was the mastermind of arms smuggling, formation of death squads to participate in sectarian violence, kidnappings, and assassinations, most notably the January 20, 2007 attack on American forces in Karbala. On the night of 20 March 2007 G squadron of the British Special Air Service (SAS) raided Khazali's hide-out in Basra and arrested him along with his brother and his Lebanese advisor without casualties and gained valuable intelligence. Khazali was released in January 2010, in exchange for the release of British national Peter Moore, who had been kidnapped by Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq. Khazali also threatened US troops in 2016 that his militias would infiltrate the Iraqi army by disguising in its uniforms and killing American soldiers during Mosul offensive. http://www.thebaghdadpost.com/en/story/8564/Khazali-warns-gov-t-against-dismantling-IMIS
