Good Morning, Yota, and all DV!

A few articles back is this thread, "The joint statement , " We can not defeat terrorism only fully a military victory, as the two leaders agree on the need to strengthen the partnership between the two countries to include the political and economic fields through joint strategic framework agreement."
He pointed out that "officials of the two countries will talk in the next coming months about the steps to be taken to strengthen economic ties and encourage investment and expand the horizons of cooperation in the energy sector, and strive to create new opportunities and strengthen cooperation in education and culture sector."
He explained , "We seek to achieve common interests and promote the welfare of the two countries, the United States commends the vision of Prime Minister al - Abadi to build a strong and diversified economy in Iraq, is able to meet all the needs of the Iraqi people."
He noted that " the United States strongly supports Iraq 's partnership with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank will continue in coordination with the Group of Seven industrialized nations [7G] to help Iraq to achieve economic stability and implementation of reforms it needs.""

OK, so this is a joint statement. Pretty sure DJT is more earnest on the timeline and requirements than other Iraqis in times past. Also, pretty sure if Abadi moves strongly on the Iraqi side of the Strategic Framework Agreement, Abadi's role and influence will only increase. Not sure what "next coming months" means. Pretty sure it doesn't mean perpetual delays for inconceivably lame excuses. I suspect, too, that terrorism will be expanded beyond just Daesh and be broadened to include Iran. Pretty sure Iran doesn't want Iraq to succeed and is a substantial reason for all the delays in Iraq. The agreed and being implemented Strategic Framework Agreement is likely a strong driver to clean up whatever messes there are to impede the implementation. Benefiting the Iraqi people and quick is likely another driver to get this all implemented to avert sectarian violence with possible escalation to a Civil War.

Lookin' Good!

Just my opinion and :twocents:

Go Moola Nova!

The Iraqi premier also asserted that he would not go a step back in the efforts to introduce reforms and combat corruption, adding that corrupt people are trying hard to impede such reforms and defame the reputation of the Iraqi government.

United States Senate
United States Senate

A group of US senators from both the Republican and Democratic parties asserted that an independent Iraq needs a comprehensive plan to decentralize some sectors of government, dismantle the Iranian-backed militias of IMIS, meet the urgent humanitarian needs of the Iraqi people and apply a total reconciliation program.

The group suggested in message to US President Donald Trump the necessity of supporting the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi plans for a Federal Iraq and to ensure this plan, the US has to support decentralization, reconciliation and security sector reforms programs.

The senators also urged Trump to present more support for the US strategic goals in Iraq and to support the Iraqi security forces to be America's ally in its war against terrorism.

The group called for a solution for the humanitarian crisis in Iraq by presenting more resources and aid to guarantee the stability and safety of the liberated areas from ISIS terrorists and enable the displaced citizens to return to their homes.

The senators stressed in their message to the US president that ISIS and the other terrorist groups will rise again in Iraq unless refugees and displaced people were to be helped.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will host the foreign ministers and senior leaders of the Global Coalition working to defeat ISIS with the participation of Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi, who is currently on a visit to Washington.

US President Donald Trump has pledged during his first meeting with the Iraqi premier that Washington will extend more support to Iraq in the coming phase to finally uproot the terrorism group.

US Secretary of State Spokesman Mark Toner said the meeting will discuss in expanded talks means of intensifying the campaign in the fight against ISIS in a way that comes in line with the strategy proposed by the White House.

This meeting will take place at the Department of State in Washington D.C., and will be the first meeting of the full Coalition, now at 68 members, since December 2014.

Toner said: "We are at an important stage of the fight against ISIS and will use this Ministerial to accelerate international efforts to defeat ISIS in the remaining areas it holds in Iraq and Syria and maximize pressure on its branches, affiliates, and networks."

The ministerial will include a detailed discussion of priorities for the Coalition’s multiple lines of effort, including military, foreign terrorist fighters, counterterrorist financing, counter-messaging, and stabilization of liberated areas, to increase the momentum of the campaign, according to the State Department briefing.

Additionally, Ministers will discuss the ongoing humanitarian crises in Iraq and Syria that are affecting the region.

While many challenges remain, ISIS is cornered in Mosul and increasingly isolated in Raqqa. This Ministerial meeting is a key moment to set ISIS on a lasting and irreversible path to defeat.

The Coalition regularly meets at the Small Group level to coordinate and enhance combined efforts to counter ISIS. The last meeting of foreign ministers took place in Washington, D.C. on July 21, 2016, and the last meeting at the political directors level took place in Berlin, Germany on November 17, 2016.
