Abadi Likely to Renounce Maliki's Party for New One: Expert

The expert believes Abadi's popularity has increased due to war against IS

Abadi Likely to Renounce Maliki's Party for New One: Expert

ERBIL — The status quo in Iraq is in the interest of Iraqi PM Haidar al-Abadi who is likely to declare a new party in March 2017, according to a legal expert.

Tareq Harb, an Iraqi legal expert, wrote on his Facebook account on Monday that the "success" of the Iraqi forces in liberating "most" of the areas under the control of the Islamic State (IS) organization has led to an increase in public support for Abadi.

The expert also expected that Abadi will abandon Da'wa Party, led by Iraqi VP Nouri al-Maliki, who ran the premier's office for two successive terms before Abadi took over.

Abadi will run for the coming elections, challenging Maliki for the PM position, according to Harb who thought Abadi's chances are more "as most of the Iraqi politicians believe Maliki was behind the occupation of the Iraqi territories by IS and he ruled Iraq in a dictatorial manner."

It was under the rule of Maliki in 2014 that the Iraqi army was defeated in most areas of Nineveh, Salahaddin, Diyala and Anbar provinces.

As expected by Harb, the Shi'ite National Alliance, which includes Maliki's party among several others, has been divided over some fronts and the strongest one supports PM Abadi.

Speaking to BasNews, Islam Hussein, a Kurdish lawmaker to the Iraqi House of Representatives thought Abadi has to finally decide whether to stay in or withdraw from the Shi'ite National Alliance.

"This is because if he chooses to get out of the alliance, he may not be reelected as PM," Hussein explained.

Abadi should also consider the possible reactions by Maliki who hopes to obtain the premier position for the third term, according to the Kurdish MP.

Salem Al-Jabouri and Iran: What is going on?

March 01 2017 08:18 PM
al-Jabouri with Iran president
al-Jabouri with Iran president

Speaker of the Iraqi parliament Salem Al-Jabouri is not ashamed of himself to openly voice his brazen for Iran's positions.

Despite the fact that he is the head of the 'Iraqi' parliament, he incessantly gushes about Iran, its victories and its role in the region!

A wide spectrum of the people are angry at these pro-Iran positions. And many Iraqis think that Mullah Regime is behind the crises Baghdad is living through.

The Iraqi people also see that if Iran stayed away from Iraq, terrorism-driven bombings will cease. And the Iraqi politicians will be able to overcome the deadlock.

Days ago, Al-Jabouri paid a visit to Iran, opening the door to many questions about the timing and purpose of this visit.  What about this visit, and, a fortiori, what is the secret behind his repeated  visits to Iran?

The puppet goes to Iran to take instructions

Al-Jabouri pays these repeated visits to Iran to take instructions regarding the work of the Iraqi lawmakers from Iran, experts told the Baghdad Post, branding him as 'puppet'.

There is no acceptable justification for these visits except the fact that he goes there to take the green light on the legislations debated under the dome of the Iraqi parliament, the experts explained.

It is shameful to a man in this sensitive position to adopt such stances, they added.

At the 6th International Conference in support of the Palestinian Intifada, ran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said in a meeting  with al-Jabouri:"Iraq is an important actor in the region, and the problems it is suffering stem from the fact that it is a very great and important country!"

Moreover, he claimed that the terror groups surfaced due to the importance of Iraq, hoping that Mosul battles end soon. He would rather say that terrorism will not cease in Baghdad as long as we are present therein.

Image1_320171201757483437143.png

He praises Iran, ignoring deep crises hitting his own country!

Instead of seizing the opportunity to speak more about the crises facing Iraq and demand support of Arab and Muslim countries, he stood before the podium just to deliver gushing praise to Iran, its role and its policies.

Holding this conference on the Palestinian Intifada here in Tehran serves all Muslim countries, he said shamelessly.

He pointed to the advances made by the Iraqi army in the war on terrorism, attributing this victory to Tehran, saying :"We attained these victories due to the help offered by our friends, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Experts also spoke about the suspicious relations between Al-Jabouri and the former prime minister Nuri Al-Maleki, the vice president.

They say Al-Jabouri's longevity in office depends on the documents he delivers to Maliki and what he approves for the benefit of the former prime minister's coalition in the parliament.

Nothing in this article is true from the years I have been reading and studying Iraq, copy paste Maliki's in place of Jaboury and then its true.

KDuesing, I'm hopeful we will see exactly what part Al-Jabouri plays with Iran and Maliki.  One thing is for sure the Arab News Media and Iraq news agencies are no longer shy to write or expose folks like Maliki.   One thing is for certain is seems that he definitely cannot hold representatives accountable while there are over 300 members in the HOR the attendance barely hits 175 - 200 members during numerous sessions to show up and participate or vote on various laws.   What the heck is up with that?

GO New Election Law -  One that represents all of the Iraqi people in all regions of Iraq....:D

I agree with you.  Salim al Jabouri is a Sunni.  Iran would never be "palsy walsy" with him, or vice versa, thank God.

Mediation efforts underway between Maliki and Abadi

The Islamic Dawa Party is leading mediation efforts to end division between its secretary-general Nouri al-Maliki and its member Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi.

Ali al-Adeeb, a member of the Iraqi parliament for the State of Law coalition, said that leaders of Dawa party and the State of Law Coalition are striving to end internal disputes between Maliki and Abadi.

He asserted that the State of Law Coalition is still planning to join the elections with one list. But if mediation efforts between Maliki and Abadi bore no fruit, the coalition would tend to join the electoral race with two electoral lists.

A political source revealed a dispute between Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Secretary General of the Dawa Party, Nouri al-Maliki, prompting Abadi to think submit his resignation from the Dawa Party.

The source claimed that Abadi dispute with al-Maliki is likely attributed to a demand from the prime minister and senior officials, including Nuri al-Maliki, to evacuate the real estate they own.

The source, who requested anonymity, said that al-Abadi began thinking of resigning from the Dawa Party.

Al-Abadi has recurrently been blamed for covering up corruption in the country, especially cases raised during previous governments, including the distribution of donations in times of elections, in reference to the former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
