US Presses PM Abadi to Disestablish Hashd Al-Shaabi: Peshmerga Commander

ERBIL — The US has pressured the Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi to disestablish the Shi'ite militia known as Hashd al-Shaabi, said a Peshmerga commander on Monday.

Jamal Murtka, the Commander of the Peshmerga forces in Gwer told BasNews "the US has pressed Abadi to abolish Hashd al-Shaabi, considering it a sectarian force created by a foreign power."

The commander argued that the inclusion of the Sunni Arabs and Kurds in Hashd al-Shaabi is to claim that it is a non sectarian Iraqi force. However, the US opposes the presence of the militia in Sunni areas, he said.

Hashd al-Shaabi, also known as the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) is one of the largest militias in Iraq consisting of 66 militia groups. It was established in 2014 by a fatwa (jurisdiction) of the grand Shi'ite cleric in Iraq Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani to fight the Islamic State (IS).

The militia has often been reported by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch for committing war crimes in different parts of Iraq. However in late 2016, the Iraqi parliament recognized the militia as a national armed legal force.

And under Obama they were able to do what ever they wanted. This is not Obama's Marine Corp anymore but Mad Dog's Marine's and when he lets the Dogs of War loose on those wanna be dishonored soldiers. The PMF will learn first hand what every other nation already knows; A well trained, well armed, US Marine is the most Feared Human on this planet!

The only way that this will work is if you require them to give up their dual citizenship to iran or whatever other country they belong to. You cant have someone who fights under the umbrella of the iraqi army, then after the fighting is done, then stay in the iraqi army if they hold citizenship in any other country. Good grief this is how iran, syria, yemen, libya, etc get all their intelligence from iraq. Geeze Abadi i understand you dont want them to feel the same way that the old iraqi army felt when bremer told them to go home you are worthless and not needed, but you also cannot let spies into your own federal armed forces. That would be like us saying hey you iraqi citizens why dont ya come join our army here in america and you can still be an iraqi citizen. Your own constitution states that they cant hold dual citizenship and no person in any government position can hold dual citizenship. Time to get it together. ;)
