I agree. I really like this article and him flying up to Erbil and meeting the other day. That was big. He is starting to be a mover and a shaker. I hope he can get the job done, and the way he is going, it's gonna get done.

Abadi said that the Iraqi and the Peshmerga forces fought together for the first time, expressing hope in the continuation of this coordination in dealing with all the suspended issues between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region. "

Thanks tigergorzow.

Do i sense a real possibility that Abadi is finally waking up that a deal with the KRG would be a massive achievements for both sides.

The benefits will be huge, not only for each government, but for all investors involved in all aspects.

Years have now past and so much time and effort wasted in trying to get these two sides to compromise.

Prove your worth Abadi, Barzaini and you will go down in history as the deal makers to talk about in history.

Do what's right.

Do it now.

Do it for your people.

Kurdish relief for Prime Minister's visit and speculation about future alliances

 BAGHDAD / Wael blessing

In conjunction with the visit of Prime Minister Haider al - Abadi to Kurdistan, the parties of the Kurdistan Democratic Party suggested the possibility of an alliance with the prime minister as part of preparations for the upcoming elections.
During his visit to each of the Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, Abadi reiterated his government 's commitment Ptoukitat hold the next election. The government decided to postpone the date of the local elections until next September instead of April, according to a proposal by the Electoral Commission.
The match see - Abadi about the election date with Maatrha Sadrist movement as opposed to the rest of the National Alliance , which go to the integration of the election or postponement of the deadline beyond September components.
And announced the Liberal parliamentary bloc, on Tuesday, a proposal for submission to the law of the House of Representatives election. Noting that the law depends on the multi - system circuit at the level of districts and in a manner calculated a simple majority of the candidates system.
The back of the prime minister and the Sadrists close together, especially after the latter 's apology for Ebadi protests against the background of the University of Wasit. He said deputies and observers that this evidence of the alliance "unspoken" between the parties, may prove to be more after the resolution of the dispute on the Commission and the electoral law.

The election date
and the MP said the Messenger of Abu Hasna, a member of the Committee of the Regions and the provinces, for (long) yesterday, said that " the majority of the political blocs, the National Alliance, supports merging or postponing the elections to another time."
Announced Prime Minister Haider al - Abadi, mid - January, the Council of Ministers identified 16 next September as the date for provincial elections, while the Independent Electoral Commission called on to prepare for the elections "fair."
But the olive - Dulaimi, an MP for the coalition forces, said in a statement (range) yesterday that the "call - Abadi for not postponing the elections, opinion is repeated more than once without having a significant impact." Dulaimi and see the impossibility of holding elections at this time , attributing it to " the continuation of the fighting and the presence of displaced people."
Ebadi said, yesterday, hosted by the Forum of Sulaimaniya, he was "not with the postponement of the elections , whether Mai_khas provincial councils or parliament , " adding that " the government is committed to Baltoukitat planned for the upcoming elections in it ."
The prime minister pointed out that "it is important to see clumps of a national candidacy and tops in the upcoming elections." He said he "welcomes the moderate opposition and not impeding the work of the government and create problems and tribulations," vowing to "continuing the fight against corruption with the help of international teams."

Visit and alliances

Abadi and come visit to the region in the aftermath of the recent events in the refinery of Kirkuk, and the outbreak of clashes in the district of Sinjar between Kurdish factions.
But Karam denies the existence of secret files at the last meeting. He adds, "There is nothing to hide, the two sides discussed the developments of the battles and the displaced."
Kurdistan hosts nearly one million displaced people from several provinces, as "peshmerga" forces participated in the restoration of Mosul operations. A government statement said after a meeting Abadi , head of the region Massoud Barzani said " it was emphasized on the great coordination and understanding between the different forms of the Peshmerga forces, including in the fight against gangs Daesh
terrorist."
He revealed the Kurdish MP said the meeting discussed the forthcoming elections. Karam did not rule out that the Democratic Party enters into an alliance with the bloc of Prime Minister. He explains by saying , "There are good relations between Barzani and al - Abadi, has to be part of the next coalition." The Democratic Party, according to a Kurdish lawmaker, has taken a decision not to participate in the elections if political consensus is exceeded.
Disputes over land
and were the leaders of the Democratic Party told the National Alliance, who visited the region early last month a delegation, it will decide the secession if they do not feel as a real partner in the process

Ebadi said yesterday, "We have to make the disputed territories agreed areas." And MP Arafat honored as " the word of gratifying, and disputed areas suitable for the differences between the two states and not between the people of the country
" one.
He said Kurdish lawmaker "There are two ways to resolve, either the application of Article 140 of the Constitution, or going to a political solution , " adding that " a political solution is the best."
But deputies from the coalition of state law denies the ability of the prime minister to hold the side or political agreements, resolve a deadlock over the disputed areas.
MP says Messenger Abu Hasna "It is not permitted to bypass the Constitution Ebadi and neglect Article 140". The MP pointed to " the need to be a discussion of that article now, especially near the end of the battles against Daesh , " and urged parliament that "determines Is the substance is still a window or canceled."
It confirms Article 140 of the permanent constitution that holds the executive power in practice "normalization and census and concludes with a referendum in Kirkuk and other disputed territories to determine the will of the people) in a maximum period of atheist Thirty of the month of December the year two thousand and seven."

Ebadi also spoke, for the first time, for the cost of the reconstruction of the cities destroyed by military operations. The head of the government, yesterday, that " the organization Daesh destroyed infrastructure big thing and a lot , " noting that "the Ministry of Planning and relevant statistics indicated that the cost of the destruction of this infrastructure up to last summer 's $ 35 billion."
But the olive - Dulaimi , an MP, a member of the parliamentary economic committee, said that "these figures probably Tkhmonaat, because the fighting is still going on in Mosul." It would be better participation of States in the reconstruction of these cities, instead granting of financial assistance or loans, are set out by saying: "We fear that the money goes into the pockets of the corrupt."
He said al - Abadi, Sulaimaniyah, that the cost of reconstruction "does not include the destruction of social relations between human society groups of the wounded and the martyrs and displaced persons
and the displaced."

Iraq, March 9, 2017

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the Islamic State (IS) has damaged Iraq’s infrastructure by more than $35 billion.

Speaking at the Sulaimani Forum at the American University of Iraq – Sulaimani on Wednesday, Abadi said all components of Iraq are participating in the battle to liberate Mosul from IS.

“Many people say terror stems from Iraq, but we’re victims of terror, [there are] IS militants from many countries,” Abadi said during the forum.

“The people of Mosul should govern Mosul, the people of Erbil should govern Erbil. Federal government role is to help them,” Abadi continued.

Abadi said Iraqi forces and Peshmerga forces are fighting IS militants together.

“We will build an Iraq that advocates for everybody,” Abadi said. “We will gain the whole of Iraq back, in peace and prosperity.”

The Iraqi premier, speaking on the topic of conducting air strikes inside Syria, said the government of Iraq has obtained permission from the Syrian government to target IS in Syria and noted they will continue.

Abadi’s remarks come after Iraqi forces launched operations to regain western Mosul from IS.

Iraqi PM promises fair trial if IS militants surrender

Abadi on Tuesday urged Islamic State militants in western Mosul to surrender promising fair trials to those who give up fighting.

“Daesh (Islamic state) militants should either flee or be killed. They have two options, either to surrender and we promise them that they will have fair trials and the second option is that they will be killed. They have no other option,” Abadi said after flying into to Mosul to visit the troops engaged in the fighting.

The prime minister met with military commanders at the frontline in the west of Mosul, jihadists’ last major city stronghold in Iraq.

The fifth annual Sulaimani Forum began on Wednesday at the American University in Iraq-Sulaimani with the participation of several leaders, politicians and economists from the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and abroad.

The forum, titled “Beyond Daesh: Ending the Cycle of Conflicts Toward Durable Solutions,” will last two days.

The two-day forum, which has been held annually since 2013, is held on March 8-9 this year.
