Dropping Iraq of revised travel ban 'justified', says commentator

The Trump administration has launched a new executive order targeting six Muslim-majority nations, News.com reported.

The new order applies to Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, but this time leaves out Iraq.

According to Tom Switzer, a senior fellow at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney, Iraq should never have been included in the first place.

Mr Switzer said Baghdad worked closely alongside Washington in fighting jihadis, something the other six were not doing.

“Iraq is an important US ally,” he told news.com.au.

“Not including Iraq in this order is therefore completely justified.”

The original executive order, which Mr Trump signed in front of media at the White House last month, sparked massive backlash across the US with a court ruling it unconstitutional.

“With this order, President Trump is exercising his rightful authority to keep our people safe,” Mr Tillerson said, adding that the revised ban was “a vital measure for strengthening our national security”.

Mr Switzer said the fact this improved order was revised and done with more consultation meant it had a better chance of surviving.

Four US states challenging the judicial ban Trump
[Oan- up]
joined three US states to Hawaii to challenge the decision of President Donald Trump travel ban on citizens of the six countries with a Muslim majority to the United States, after being excluded including Iraq Tla from its previous decision.
The Trump has signed an executive order putting a ban duration of 90 days on the travel of citizens of six Muslim - majority countries to the United States.
According to New York State law that is banned for Muslims and Washington says is detrimental to the state. He joined Oregon and Massachusetts later.
The ban starts on March 16 th, and the White House says he was "absolutely certain" of the validity of the decision before the court.
The original decision was more comprehensive than the current resolution of Trump but was defeated in court after court challenges filed by Washington and Minnesota.
The decision prohibits the average for the citizens of Somalia, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Libya and Yemen visas to the United States, the resolution bans also enter all the refugees on a temporary basis.
And the withholding of the previous resolution, which was signed by Trump in January in the federal courts and led to widespread protests and chaos at airports.
But critics say the amended resolution that discriminates against Muslims. Eric Schneiderman said the attorney general of New York after the announcement of New York offers defiantly court to ban " The new executive order of President Trump is a ban on Muslims, but under the name of another, and impose policies that violate the rule of equal opportunities in the US Constitution."
Said Bob Ferguson , the Attorney General of the State of Washington, who was the first to submit a court challenge against the ban, he would ask a federal judge to issue a ruling constantly work the temporary decision to stop the first executive decision to Trump.
And despite the fact that the White House is under growing criticism over immigration decisions, but supporters say that Trump meets the electoral pledge to protect Americans.

According to the prohibition of Trump .. two conditions for entry of nationals of six Muslim countries to America?
{International:} Euphrates News Agency reported the Associated Press, said that the US administration would require visa applicants from six countries predominantly Muslim and all refugees to have their close family relationship or business related to the United States.

Seems really weird to me that the Mosul battle is being declared over at the same time this ban is taking effect.  Could it possibly be to prevent the Iraqi people from trying to leave their country now that they have some money instead of staying there to help rebuild it and make it prosperous?

You are reading too much into this. This EO would have taken place and would have already been lifted months ago if it were not for the judge shopping on the left. The SCOTUS usually delivers rulings at the end of June every year. They also announce cases they will see as well. Then they go into their own vacation mode for the summer and return back in September/October. That is why there was not just one case SCOTUS announced their findings on. This announcement of findings is different at this level than at lower levels where rulings are announced by the individual judges once they have made their determination. Since each member of the SCOTUS must write their findings they have certain dates in which all of their findings for the cases they have heard are announced. The timing of this doesn't coincide with anything other than the high court describing their plan of action according to this EO. Funny thing is Hawaii after this was announced by SCOTUS, filed again in the courts. It will be interesting to see the ramifications after SCOTUS announced they are dealing with this. I would be surprised if any court takes this up at this juncture. You cannot go higher than SCOTUS. SCOTUS is not there to create law, they are there to interpret how it is written and determine if it is Constitutionally valid. As was the case when Obummer's admin claimed the now defunct O'doesntcare mandate as not a tax and SCOTUS ruled it was equal to being a tax on the citizenship of the US.
