No Country in the Middle East wants Iran to become. Nuclear Iran. Iran doing trading with Iraq is understandable, they are bordering nations! It seems many want America to bully and police all the Middle East, chearing on our generals, like to promote wars? Does anyone realize the cost to we taxpayers? Sanctions on Iran hasn't worked in either Rebublican, or Democratic presidencies in several decades! So, just what do you think Mr. Trump's going to do any different? Huh? We go to war with Iran? Equals a more unstable Middle East, and many "Trillions" of your American Tax Dollars, not to mention young American men and women deaths, casualties, and theirs as well. What, while we work our  jobs, and sleep, to pay the cost with our hard earned tax dollars! I think we all should evaluate this, and before we get froggy and jump and react to this general's statement, we ask ourselves is a war with Iran an urgent necessity, or not? If you support system" rel="">support this view, then don't complain later when our National Debt rises perhaps another 10 Trillion dollars or more on that war alone, not including other fires it may start. I suggest you do not believe everything you hear, for example, Iraq's, Sadaam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction! People tend too often to hear one side, and thus establish an opinion. Always listen to the opposing side, assess, evaluate, then let logic establish your views. There has been many historic, and costly mistakes in simply following someone else's lead, without rationalizing!

Finally a voice of reason...

Wait a second. Jimmy Carter told 'em to.......oh, wait. I guess that was a failure. But Bill Clinton decided to make 'em.....ok, I guess that was a flop. But Barack Obama gave 'em EVERYTHING on a silver platter. YUP....that worked!!  Now it's TRUMP'S turn

Strange you would leave out the 2 Bushes and their epic failures. And you didn't mention that our Secretary of State, dealt with Iran and went around sanctions while head of Exxon. Do you really believe Trump is going to do anything to hurt companies like Exxon? That would be suicide. Not to mention America simply cannot afford another war.

A military agreement between Iraq and Iran enters Washington in anticipation and waiting

 Translation: Range

Iran and Iraq have recently signed an agreement to strengthen military cooperation to combat "terrorism and extremism" and President Donald Trump may not accept this agreement.

According to Iranian media, the memorandum of understanding "includes expanding cooperation and exchange of experiences on combating terrorism and extremism and ensuring border security and information, logistics, technical and military support."
So far, there have been few responses to the memorandum of understanding in the United States. But given what is expected, it is doubtful that the deal will be welcomed in Washington. Trump has recently stepped up tensions with Iran and recently accused the Islamic Republic of violating the "spirit" of the nuclear deal. Last week, Trump agreed to re-ratify the agreement, asserting that Iran complies with the terms of the 2015 multilateral agreement. He did it with great hesitation. "
"The president spent 55 minutes from the one-hour meeting and he told his advisers he did not want to do that," said an official who spoke with the New York Times on condition of anonymity. Trump is still pushing for a new set of sanctions against Iran, which is due to be voted on by the House of Representatives. The law against Iran's destabilizing activities focuses on Iran's ballistic missile program, which was approved by the Senate in June.
In its annual reports on terrorism issued last week, the Foreign Ministry once again described Iran as the "main sponsor state of terrorism." The State Department did not respond to the request to comment on what the signing of Iraq (in which US forces have been fighting for more than 14 years) meant a military deal with the country, which the United States sees as a major global security threat.
Although Iran's presence in Iraq has sometimes been seen as a material threat to US forces, the Pentagon appears to be adhering to the MOU.
"It is not immediately clear that the contents of this MOU will have an impact on US forces," said Pentagon spokesman Major Adrian Rankin Galloway. "We will always take appropriate measures to protect ourselves."
"We have close and ongoing contacts with the Iraqi government, and we are only dealing with the government of Iraq and the security forces under its command and control," Galloway said, adding that "US forces were there at the invitation of Iraqis."
But the role of the United States in the future of Iraq is unclear so far as the Iranian-backed armed factions and the Kurdish Peshmerga fighters have increased their influence in Iraq during the war against a militant organization.
However, Iran's role and popular mobilization now seems clearer than ever before. The 122,000-strong crowd was ready to stand firm even before the deal was signed.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi has supported the popular rally in Iraq. After the liberation of Mosul, he said, "It must remain at least for years, because the terrorist threat still exists."
"The Baghdad government has excellent relations with Iran, and when he was about to enter Baghdad, Iranian support was crucial until the United States joined the fighting," said Paul Salem, vice president of the Institute for Policy Analysis, Research and Programs in the Middle East.
"The Americans are fully aware that Iran will try to push Baghdad to demand that the Americans leave after the liberation of Mosul ends," Salem said, adding that "
The danger is that Iran can go back to fighting the United States through armed factions, as it did in the early years of the war. "" It seems that the United States made the wrong decision in 2003, as the US invasion of Iraq handed over the country to Iranian influence . "He stressed that" this memorandum of understanding is merely a continuation of a strong relationship that already exist. "
However , Salem said , that" it does not mean that the Iraqis follow Iran, and the unwillingness of Iran in the presence of US troops, does not mean that Iraq is bound Bataatha. "
offers Michael Gates, a fellow at the Washington Institute, a specialist in military and security affairs Iraq, Iran and the Gulf states view the contrary, and considers that the memorandum of understanding is "a game of public relations to Iran," explaining that "the United States is by far the largest supplier of military assistance to the Iraqi government ...
"We have several months of major combat operations and a very large proportion of the defense budget is allocated to support the Iraqi security forces." He added that "all this means that the United States intends to maintain a large presence in Iraq at least during the next three years," describing the memorandum of understanding that it "does not represent anything , but it 's just a tactic to save water the face of Iran, and perhaps it is a reminder of its relationship with Baghdad."
He noted , "they're very smart Fterahm are not interested in the promotion of military cooperation, they've got many other things more important than the strengthening of the armed forces. This is what the United States is doing and doing its best, "
Michael Knights said." Tehran is not interested in competing with Washington for their strongest position.

Iran regime 'in quagmire' as Iraq shifts attention to Arabs

Khamenei

20th August, 2017

Recent reports asserted that Iran is going through a hard time in Iraq. According to these reports, the near-demise of ISIS in Iraq is one of the obstacles faced by the Mullah regime.

This terror group, according to intelligence reports, is created and funded by Iran to destroy Sunni countries.

ISIS has been expelled from Mosul. It has been there since 2014. Now, the Iraqi forces initiated an operation to retake Tal Afar.

Experts told the Baghdad Post that the Mullah regime will not stand idly by while the terror outfit it created is being wiped out.

"Iran will seek to create a new terror group to spoil the Iraqi scene, paving the way for its regime to continue expansions in Iraq." They added.

Losing 'old friends'

According to insiders, the second obstacle impeding Iran in Iraq is that the Mullah regime is losing the support of the Shiite factions in Baghdad.

Senior Shiite leaders started to strengthen ties with the Arab world, foremost of them is the Shiite leader Moqtada al-Sadr.

Iran has lost most of its backers in Iraq as the Shiite forces turn to Saudi Arabia and the major Sunni powers, analysts said, adding:"After 14 years, Iran has found itself with no allies in Iraq, which will make its mission to sabotage Iraq tougher and costly."

Yet experts asserted most of the Shiite political spectrum in Iraq seeks better ties with Arabs. "They don't want Iran anymore. The Iraqi Shiites see that they will be better off if they aligned themselves with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE."

There are calls emerged recently in Iraq for questioning the previous governments about the Iraqi money siphoned off by Iran.

Insiders say all of these obstacles drove Iran's security and intelligence apparatuses to look for solutions.

"The situation is turning upside down for Iran. It is losing ISIS and facing 'a Shiite rebellion'." Analysts further noted.

Iranian counter plan

Many see that Iran will move to face up to the challenges looming in Iraq.

"They will target Haider al-Abadi since he crushed the terror group they sponsor in Iraq." Observers stated.

They added that the Iranian regime will seek to topple Abadi in the coming elections.

Other commentators said the Iranian regime may resort to politically-motivated assassinations. They cited the death threats the Sadrist leader Moqtada al-Sadr said he received after he called for dismantling IMIS.

Additionally, Iran may strengthen the presence of IMIS terror militia as its long arm in Iraq.
"The Iranians have a lot to do in Iraq, insiders told the Baghdad Post, adding:"Many scenarios are being cooked up for sabotaging Iraq. They will not let it slip easily from their hands."

Iran regime 'on the defensive', fears coup: Commentators

The commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Gen. Qassim Suleimani, warned of a mounting sectarian sedition in Iran," defending the role of his forces and terrorist militias in Syria and Iraq.

In a speech attended by religious leaders in Tehran, he called for activating the role of mosques in Iran to strengthen the ranks of the forces defending sacred shrines, referring to Iranian forces carrying out combat missions alongside his country's allies in Syria and Iraq six years ago.

At this gathering, the notorious military commander admitted there is opposition at home to the Iranian intervention in Syria.

This is the second appearance for Suleimani in two consecutive days. Looking at these accelerating developments, commentators said that the situation is too precarious in Iran.

"There is something tremendous happening behind the scenes. Maybe there will be a coup d'etat." They told the Baghdad Post.

He came out to defend the Iranian policies in Syria and Iraq in two days in a row. This signals a deepening divisions and polarizations in Iran. the Mullahs are now on the defensive, and they have nothing but justifications and denials, experts further noted.

Others went on to say that what is happening inside Iran is something far beyond a temporary polarization.

"Only an imminent coup, no less, is the thing that drove Suleimani to issue these warnings," the observers insisted.

Mounting anger

According to observers familiar with the Iranian affairs, things are not going well in Iran, and the people are not in harmony as Khamenei's media platforms claim.

There is a wide gap between IRGC and the armed forces.

Outwardly, IRGC is part of the Iranian armed forces. But in reality, it is an independent body with extensive powers.

The IRGC has inflated in recent years, overshadowing the armed forces in terms of weaponry and personnel.

Image1_8201721231154941055441.png

"The army is forced to keep low profile on the Iranian landscape for the sake of the IRGC, observers noted.

They added:"For the regime, the IRGC is more important. It carries out missions overseas. And all major schemes plotted by the regime in the region are assigned to the IRGC."

The IRGC has its own weapons, missiles, aircraft, a special intelligence service and a very large secret budget, estimated at some $ 30 billion a year at the very least.

Selectiveness

The armed forces in Iran are now dwarfed to the IRGC in terms of priviliges. But the army is out of spotlight.

All the commanders of the IRGC are known to the public by name. and this is not the case for those of the army.

On this, commentators said that there lurks a big deal of anger due to this 'selectiveness'.

"The IRGC has everything. It controls the economy of the resources-rich country." They noted, adding:"People know IRGC chief General Mohammad Ali Jafari, General Qassim Suleimani, Commander of the Quds Force, Brig. Gen. Muhammad Bakpur, Commander of the Ground Force in the IRGC, Brigadier General Ali Fadavi, Commander of the Naval Forces, while those of the army have less prominence on the Iranian arena.'

There is a dormant anger in Iran. The situation may go out of control at any time, experts stated, citing the mounting dissatisfaction in the ranks of the military and the losses the regime incurs on the battlefield in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

British newspaper reveals the full objectives of the visit of US Secretary of Defense to Iraq

13925.jpg?watermark=4

22nd August, 2017

The US Defense Secretary will discuss during his visit to Iraq the issue of reconstruction and the return of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who have been forcibly displaced from their homes and cities because of the fighting, the London-based Al Arab newspaper reported on Tuesday.

US Defense Secretary Jim Matisse on Tuesday began a visit to Baghdad to confirm US support for Iraq as Iraqi forces tightened their grip on a militant organization in Tal Afar, the last bastion of Daish in northern Nineveh province.

During his visit, Mates will hold talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi and senior Iraqi officials, as well as Kurdistan Regional President Massoud Barzani, adding that he wants to help the regime remain focused on defeating Da'ash fighters.

"Our focus now is on defeating Iraq in Iraq and re-imposing Iraqi sovereignty and territorial integrity," Matisse told reporters before the visit.

After Iraqi forces, supported by the US-led coalition, expelled fighters from the city of Mosul after nine months of bloody fighting, military operations against the organization began in Tal Afar, one of the strategic cities bordering the Syrian border.

The battle "is not over yet"

The convoy of tanks and armored vehicles could be seen on Monday in the desert plains of Tal Afar, heading for the city under the control of a hasty organization, leaving behind clouds of dust.

On the course of the battle, Matisse said, "The days of a certain number of sure, but it is not over yet and will not end soon."

He added that the battle of Mosul "cost the Iraqi forces more than six thousand wounded and more than 1200 dead." However, these forces regained confidence after losing them after collapsing in front of an organization in Mosul in 2014.

He stressed that the restoration of Mosul was not to occur "without the stability of Prime Minister Abbadi in the restructuring of this army, which was dispersed in 2014, the army he inherited."

But that return was also crucially based on intensive training, planning and firefighting from the US military.

The Middle East security specialist at the Center for New American Security in Washington, Nicholas Heras, said that support was still to be established, and there would be resistance from Shiite factions and Iranians.

Matisse said the talks would focus on the future course, including how to keep Iraq against a new political split or more indulging in Iranian influence, after years of unionism against a militant organization.

"Minister Mattis will focus a lot on the US course to maintain its presence in Iraq to continue training the Iraqi security forces" and avoid the emergence of a successor to a hasty organization, Heras said.

In addition, there is a major problem related to Kurdistan's intention to hold a referendum on the independence of the region on September 25, which is strongly opposed by the United States as an event that could undermine Abadi politically and distracted focus on the fight against an oppressive organization.

"The referendum at this time will be catastrophic for the campaign against a supporter," said US envoy to the international coalition, Bret McCurck. "Not only the United States, every member of the coalition believes that this is not the time to hold this referendum."

The initial progress on the outskirts of Tel Afar "is going well," he said, with 235 square kilometers cleared during the first 24 hours.

"It will be a very difficult battle," he said, but he noted that Iraqi and US forces were "moving faster, more efficiently and efficiently", in part because US President Donald Trump gave Matisse more authority to decide on tactics and resources.

Matisse, on a five-day tour that includes Jordan, Iraq, Turkey and Ukraine, said he would also discuss the reconstruction and return of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis forcibly displaced from their homes and cities by the fighting, especially in Mosul. "It will not be overnight, it will be a great help for them to move forward," he said.

But Heras said Matisse, who said he had won firm confidence among Iraqis, needed to help Abadi build his post-war moderation as the next election approaches

That would be nice. Unfortunately, Mr Obama gave them 3/4 of a trillion dollars in cash/currency. Go Abaddi, go RV.
