The political system in Iraq is completely 'corrupt', Leader of the Sadrist Movement Muqtada al-Sadr said on Friday.

Speaking in a television interview, al-Sadr said his bloc will go on with its reform program, which focuses on increasing awareness among the Iraqi people about the danger of corruption.

Al-Sadr stressed the importance of keeping corrupt figures away from the political scene in order to start a new era of development and renaissance.

He also urged drafting new laws and a new constitution to fight corruption in the country.

We're seeing a country trying to adjust to modern times.  Internet, cell phones, online banking.  This is massive.  In their minds, the world stopped turning.  Anyone who remembers raw sewage running down the streets when the town leader wore white knows what I'm talking about.

I agree, In This Since 2004!

Iraq, for the most part, was in the Prehistoric/Stone Age on a variety of different dimensions as you mentioned. Fortunately, this has likely made the ultra modern systems now in place in Iraq at the fore front of these very same dimensions compared to even highly developed countries. Why would they be doing this if there were no plans within Iraq and internationally to realize the benefits from the wealth in Iraq? Hey, to do all that, they need a valued currency and I am pretty sure the natives are not going to sit still once Mosul is retaken and ISIS is effectively removed from Iraq if the GOI is sitting on their thumbs or enjoying one of their many holidays while the populace languishes. The revalued currency is needed so the goods flowing into Iraq can commence.

Pretty sure the modern conveniences (complex sewage systems, etc.) is on the menu as well as a host of other goodies! The world aught to spin pretty good then!

That is amazing...No wonder Iraq is in love with America. We dont have Shite in the streets here....cept downtown Austin where the homeless tend to Shite in the recessed doorways to businesses. Apparently they want some privacy... :lmao:

The Sadrist Movement's Leader Muqtada al-Sadr has warned of the repercussions of Mosul's liberation, saying those who will purge the city from ISIS militants, will dominate the forthcoming Iraqi policy.

In an interview with NRT TV Channel, al-Sadr said he alerted Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of attempts by unnamed parties to defer the ongoing military operation to regain the full control over Mosul city.
