اربيل24حزيران/يونيو(آكانيوز)- اكد وكيل وزير المالية والاقتصاد العراقي اليوم الخميس، على ان 80 % من ديون العراق تم تسويتها، ولكن البلدان العربية ترفض اطفاء ديونها المستحقة على العراق. Arbil, June 24 (Akaniwz) - The Deputy Minister of Finance and the Iraqi economy Thursday, that 80% of Iraq's debt has been settled, but the Arab countries refuse to extinguish the debt owed by Iraq.

من جانبه، قال الخبير الاقتصادي ادريس رمضان ان "تأخر العراق في سداد المستحقات المالية الدول في اوقاتها المحددة، جعل الفوائد المترتبة على تلك الديون تزداد بشكل كبير، وبالتالي تزايد مبالغ القروض التي بذمته، مما جعل العراق يعجز عن الايفاء بالتزاماته، ويطالب الدول باطفاء الديون المتراكمة بذمته". من جانبه، قال رئيس اللجنة المالية والاقتصادية في الدورة الاولى لمجلس النواب العراقي اسماعيل شكر لـ(آكانيوز) انه "بسبب بقاء القروض بذمة العراق، فان كويت تتقاضى نسبة 5% من وارادات النفط العراقي، ولكن الدول الاجنبية التي يدين العراق لها بنسبة 20% من مجمل ديونه قررت ان تستثمر تلك الاموال في العراق". All of that debt "forgivness" was not really free and clear out of the goodness of their hearts. I quess the old saying is true, nothing is really free. These countries would not be investing billions into a money pit. At some time, all of them will be coming forward like the USA and France to request Iraq be free of all sanctions to get on with their return on their investment.

China is reported to have received a discount of $.60/barrel for the "forgiveness" of an $8B debt ... sounds like horse trading to a Texan like me ... not forgiveness of anything. What wasn't stated was the term. Into perpetuity would be quite a good deal for the Chinese. You figure when production is up and you have the lease rights to a huge % of the wells ... a couple of million barrels/day (in the future) times $.60 ... that erases $8B within what ... 3.5 years (give or take a bit)?
