new york kevin
Cryoablation Therapy Freezes Breast Cancer Tumors. I don't know if this link came over but if the little video on my friends facebook page ported over, the video says that they inject liquid nitrogen into the tumor , killing the tumor. Then the body's immune system detects the dead necrotic tissue and simply eliminates it from the body? Crypablation , ??? Hmm, sounds plausible . What say you guys and gals of DVland? FlyHi
Liquid nitrogen has been used topically for ages. I would be interested to see the injection device as non tumorous material would also be "killed" as liquid runs through the injector. Yes the body eliminates any necrotic material quick smart with macrophages etc. Ablation (removal of early fruits and flowers to delay harvest) is a technique we use on plantations to improve productivity and vigour of the palms .It works a treat and can increase production from 4-8T/ha/yr to 18-22T/ha/yr a huge difference! new york kevin
Ablation, as a medical term essentially means to take away, carry away, to remove. Freeze the tumor, then if the body is otherwise healthy allow it to carry away the frozen remains of the now necrotic tissue. One of my follow up q's was like yours FlyHi, I would like to see the injection device and how it delivers the liquid nitrogen to the tumor, and inject it into the tumor before it, itself, freezes. Plus how would they fully or partially contain the nitrogen to eliminate or minimize damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Tankdude, Thaiexpat what say you?
tankdude
This technology has been around since the 1960's apparently. The liquid nitrogen - or now it looks like liquid argon - are not actually injected. They are used to supercool the tip of the probe being used to kill/damage the tumor/cells around the probe. Here is an article I found that does a pretty good job explain the technology and protocols. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4065703/ BTW - hope he doesn't mind, but I want to fill you in a bit on something. ThaiExpat may be out for a while. He has contracted something nasty and has been working on recovering. He may be out of the loop for a while. I'm sure we all wish him the best and pray for a full recovery. Edited October 5, 2016 by tankdude
Theseus
The cure for warts is to freeze them off. Heck why not for this too. Had a wart on the inside of my index finger. They froze that one day at the VA, I passed out from the pain! Never did get rid of the wart. It finally just fell off one day. Messed up my finger prints though.
