I thought it odd, too, that various Iraqi leaders would run to Iran.  If Maliki is Iran's man, what are the others doing going to Iran?  I would think Iraq would want to be an independent State.  Maybe the Iraqi leaders are doing Maliki damage control or maybe the PTB told Iraq to put their Big Boy Britches on and dictate terms to Iran.  All told, some semblance of working relationship needs to be maintained with a bordering state - including not dabbling in each other's affairs.

Just my :twocents:

Iran may loosen grip on foreign exchange to get more investment

Tehran is sending signals it may soon let the market decide the exchange rate of the Iranian rial, Bloomberg reports. The current dual-exchange rate system is hindering the inflow of foreign cash, which is crucial to rebuild the Iranian economy.

Iranian officials are reportedly allowing bankers to buy foreign currency at the market exchange rate rather than the central bank rate. At present, the Iranian rial is 12 percent cheaper in the open market, trading at 35-36 against the dollar, while Tehran sells it at 31.

The market are obliged to buy foreign currency at the exchange rate set by the central bank, and the gap between the two rates has widened during the years of international sanctions.

According to Kamal Seyedali, a former deputy governor of the central bank, slackening of the rules will allow more money to directly enter the banking sector rather than be locked into currency exchange shops.

The Financial Times’ fDi Intelligence service is reporting foreign direct investment in Iran grew to $4.5 billion in the first three months of the year, while Tehran wants to attract $30-50 billion each year in an effort to rebuild the sanctions-hit economy.

Since entering office in 2013, President Hassan Rouhani has been trying to minimize the difference between the two exchange rates. Since sanctions were lifted against Iran there have been hopes the process would speed up. Analysts have said the balance between the market and the central bank could be reached at 32-33 rials for the dollar.

Iran and the six international mediators (the US, UK, France, Germany, Russia and China) signed a deal last July to settle the standoff over Iran's nuclear program. The implementation did not occur until January 2016.

In my opinion it all has to do with land, and the richness of it. The iranians have been holding back water since they built the dams for their nuclear facilities and the water that is getting through has high amounts of uranium in it. In the middle east they bargain, they always have  and they always will. I think that barzani going to Iran is going to be very interesting considering that the krg(barzani's party) is not beholden to Iran nor do they want to be. Now the puk (talabani's party) is beholden to iran , always has been always will. As we have all seen the Iranian influence has grown greatly in iraq thanks to obummers policies or maybe it's just down right on purpose, but Barzani is not giving up on his quest for the lands to come back to kurdistan that rightfully belong to it. I would guess that alot of this meeting will hinge on kirkuk, which the provincial council is made up mostly of the puk party, and barzani wants a referendum for kirkuk to determine the fate of whether they go with kurdistan or become their own region. The puk and iran would prosper greatly if kirkuk becomes its own region. I look at it this way, anything that has to do with iran is never good, and at this point we have to ride it out until obummer is out of office. Im a trump supporter and some may not like that, but i will not see the clinton agenda of globalism come to fruition. Its devastation in all forms.

Biden in Turkey to provide "strong support"

BAGHDAD / Sky Press:

US Vice President Joe Biden arrives to Turkey, on Wednesday, in a visit described by the White House as "a sign of strong support" by the United States toward its allies, after a failed coup attempt in mid-July last year.

Biden's visit, according to a White House statement, quoted by the "Anatolia", the Turkish Parliament building in the capital Ankara, which was bombed during the coup attempt, where he held a closed meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Ismail Kahraman.

Biden will meet after the Turkish prime minister, Ben Ali Yildirim, in Channagaaa Palace, where he cast two officials, after the meeting, he told reporters.

The White House also said that Biden will meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish presidential compound, to be the first US official to visit the complex since the transfer of the headquarters of the Turkish presidency to him in 2014.

The statement did not mention the subject of re-delivery "service" movement leader Fethullah Gulen, who is accused by Ankara of masterminding the coup attempt failed, but the White House spokesman, Josh Ernest, had touched him in his press conference on Monday evening, while talking about the visit.

Ernst said that "Biden's visit will be the foremost indication of the strong support of the United States to the Allies shown in Turkey," a reminder that the US administration strongly condemned the coup attempt failed.

On the delivery of Gulen, Ernst said, "The decision to return to Turkey, not in the hands of President Barack Obama," noting that the US Department of Justice officials are coordinating extensively with their counterparts of the Turks, and that they will hold during this week's visit to Turkey to inspect the data delivered by Turkey's Ministry of Justice, " but the extradition decision in the end will not be the decision of the US president, "he said.

Ernest repeated assertion that the United States "strongly supports the democratic government in Turkey unequivocally," pointing out that Biden will express during the visit of the US administration and its appreciation for the steps to support Turkey in the context of contributing to the fight against the organization (Daesh).
