Hey everyone - sorry for the delay, the airport wifis were just not cooperating today!

I'm still working on getting it done today, but the weekly may be delayed till tomorrow.

Well, it didn't get done on Wednesday like usual... but this morning is looking a heck of a lot more promising!

Yesterday was one of those days... have you ever got in the bathroom, about to brush your teeth, and you put shaving cream on your toothbrush? That was kind of how my day started! Then it continued with lots of fun times with immigration officers, customs officials, broken down sky clubs at the airport and even a mixed up flight itinerary. 

Gotta love travel days!

Before I get to Iraq, let's deal with something here on dinarvets.com - you and your VIP account.

Ok, that's really the best I can do as an immediate fix for the website issues we are working through, so I'll end that with a "thank you for your patience"!

Now to Iraq.

One thing I've learned through the years is that listening to the "Gurus" is a colossal waste of time. I've got most of their "reports" and whatnot completely filtered out of my news stream/inboxes, so when people ask me my opinion on something they said... I usually don't have the first clue what they said, so how could I possibly give a response?

However... one thing the "Gurus" are good at is perking up when things are heating up. I can just imagine their ears standing a little higher at attention, like a dog who hears the garbage truck down the road. And then just like that dog, the gurus start barking and yapping like little dummies trying to warn you of a major event, like a burglar or a fire! 

Sometimes it's just the garbage man, doing his thing... but it's still a good idea to pay attention to the yapping, because sometimes they are onto something bigger.

That's kind of what's happening right now. Even though I normally don't even see anything from the "Gurus" cross my desk, they seem to be getting so loud right now that bits and pieces are breaching the guru-free serenity of my daily life.

The last few times that happened, it was when big stuff was happening. Chapter 7, the GOI finally getting moving, Abadi taking Malikis spot... and now we're looking at something big again. 

The re-shuffling of Parliament is all but done. It's been a little quiet on that front for a week or so, and that's a GOOD thing! It means they are now in a position to move forward, and from what I'm hearing (no, not from the yappy gurus... from MY sources) - what I'm hearing is that HCL should be on the table REAL soon.

It was my hope that we'd see it before Ramadan, but let's be 100% realistic - Ramadan starts in a couple days, and NOTHING SIGNIFICANT GETS DONE DURING RAMADAN.

However, that's not to say that they won't be setting things up during Ramadan.

One more note regarding the timing... remember when I said that the HCL could be tied very tight to the price of oil?

We are definitely going in the right direction, just like I thought we would be:

It is said that Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jubouri, decided earlier, the extension of the current legislative term of the Council of the urgent need to complete the reforms. It ended 29/34 R.

 

This doesn't mean they are "working" for another month, it just means they gave themselves a month extension to carry through Ramadan.

I think this ties in exactly with what I was saying above, that although nothing significant gets passed during the holiday, this does not mean they won't be working on things to have an "End-of-Ramadan" celebration.

Parliament has never publicly gotten serious about "RV". An RV is something that will be decided and announced primarily by the CBI.

What we need out of Parliament is to continue moving forward with financial cooperation between Baghdad and Kuwait, and ultimately finalize an official HCL agreement.

We are close.

I won't go into detail on the "current situation" in Fallujah or Mosul other than to say that ISIS is losing it's hold in a lot of ways, and I expect to see that trend continue. 

Regarding an RV amount, I won't give more than I already did in my Rate Thesis. And regarding the Date, I am very hopeful to see some strong action immediately post-Ramadan... but if they want to prove me wrong, I will happily let them!

Yes, it certainly would, EE.  I have always pretty much discounted an RV on Friday or Saturday since the CBI is closed on those days.  BUT anything can happen.

In the past, I worked with a devout Muslim.  Ramadan start and finish is tied to the "moon sightings."  The moon needs to be at a certain phase and elevation in the sky at a specified time of the day for the start and finish of Ramadan.  As a result, the start day(s) and end day(s) could be different depending on where a Muslim lives on the planet.  Typically, Ramadan lasts 29 days and sometimes 30 days.  After Ramadan, there are special celebrations.  If the moon can not be sighted due to position in the sky or cloud cover in the area the Muslim lives, Ramadan is extended to the full 30 days, but no further.  If Ramadan starts (first day of fasting) this year on June 5, then the 29 days of fasting ends after sunset on July 3.  I suspect, depending on the beginning and ending "moon sighting(s)" and weather conditions, the last possible fasting day of Ramadan will be July 5.  There may be news from Iraq stating their official first day of fasting and then the potential end of Ramadan can be assessed.  Typically, my past Muslim coworker worked as usual during Ramadan with the only difference is he did not eat or drink liquids during the day light hours.

Always appreciate your positive posts Adam, the upbeat news as of late I'm sure has the DV crew excited and as we know Ramadan is once again upon us. I work with a Muslim as well and he has indicated to me that although fasting is part of his day during this time period he works as usual along with other followers around the world, it's business as usual. I'm sure that the GOI is working and getting things done and look forward to things moving forward

Sandfly Adam and Mods for all you do... pardon me if I deviate a bit from Dinar news...but you forgot one very important piece of information...one of our own got his daughter back after she was missing for quite a while.  I don't know about y'all but family, IMO, is where the rubber meets the road!  So once again I am so impressed with how so many gathered around this terrible situation until it came to a safe conclusion early this week.  Keep our brother Texstorm and his family in your prayers as serious situations like this have a way a taking a while to iron out.  I'm pretty sure that is not what Adam had in mind when he started this site...but I for one am glad that it has evolved into much more than just an investment sight...it has developed into a place where we care about the investors not just the investment!  I for one am glad to have been introduced to such a great bunch of caring folks...and it truly has been a pleasure and an honor getting to know some of you wonderful Dinarians!!!
