U.N. census report this week reported 3 million refugees in Iraq. I also read last week that 80% of young people (if memory serves me it was 18 to 25 year olds) have left the country in pursuit of employment and education elsewhere. I would as well.  Iraq waited too long to implement the new infrastructure and now oil in the $40's a barrel. I personally know  a 20 year old girl who lives in the U.S., has a U.S. boyfriend and is going to stay here and send $ back to family. I always thought it was a gutsy move to move to a foreign country at the age of 18.

This is ridiculous - why are there ANY poor people on Iraq?!

Corruption stinks

War, NO jobs, not enough electricity or water and 3 million refugees. Ex., since the war, they still import wheat. However in 2017, it is anticipated they will export wheat.

Dinarian64, just because they have resources in the ground doesn't mean the people have jobs.

Davis,

The middle east people i know all are in agreement, including the girl i was speaking about.  2011 they were optimistic and hopeful that Iraq would come back. (but still laughed at me when i asked about the dinar)   In the last 2 years, when i ask what do you think, i get head shaking and i don't know if Iraq will recover.  (i just asked 2 weeks ago) They say there is so much corruption and conditions are bad over there.

Personally, I still believe but not soon.

According to a posted article today, over 624 Billion USD in oil sales is unaccounted for since 2003. Iraq's economy was exported long ago because of corruption. Can any of us even fathom just how much 1 billion USD is and what it can do for productive reasons? There should be NO poverty in Iraq! Life is good for a corrupt Iraqi ...IMO
