The Oil Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi had discussed on Thursday with President of Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani, developments in the political situation in Iraq and relations between the KRG and the federal government, while the meeting also included ways to address the outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil, especially with regard to the agreement oil.

Kurdish lawmaker: non-payment of dues will pay the Government of the Kurdistan region of alternative options

MP from the Kurdistan Alliance Masood Haider, Sunday, that the non-payment of dues Kurdistan Regional Government will push the region to take alternative options to pay employees' salaries, noting that much closer option is to sell the oil directly from the region to overseas countries.
 

Haider said in an interview to the Sumerian News, "The disputes over the payment of the territory between the Federal Government and the Government of the region still exist, and both sides failed to reach a solution."

 

 

 

He said Haider, "according to the financial budget for the 2015 law, the federal government pays dues to the Government of the region of around one trillion and 200 billion Iraqi dinars per month for the salaries of the staff of the region, but this has not been achieved so far."
 

He stressed that "this government will push the region to take alternative options to pay the salaries of the staff of the region that have not the federal government giving", noting that "the more options are selling oil directly from the region to overseas countries."
 

The President of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, confirmed on Monday (11 May 2015), that the region wants to implement the oil agreement with Baghdad, "according to what has been understood," while the region threatened to sell oil "directly" in the absence of financial receivables write Baghdad.
