Thursday News Summaries and Commentaries:

Parliamentary Finance: taxation to raise the dollar's exchange rate against the dinar

Take notice Family that this Finance Committee member has now come forward with probably 4-5 reasons why the USD continues to rise against the IQD.....it is called supply and demand....

There is less available on the street these days so the price has to go up if the demand is there.....but he continues to point to all sorts of things....today claiming it is the taxation process that the government is implementing that is the cause.....

He does say it will now stabilize and not go any higher....wonder what he basis that on.....you have to wonder who to trust at times.

Keywords: Iraq can be included in the blacklist issued unless a special law of money laundering

The governor of the CBI warned that Iraq could find itself on a blacklist with other countries if laws are not brought forward that will help in dealing with money laundering....this is serious business and could cause association with terrorist activities if it is not dealt with properly.

Parliamentary Finance Committee vows banks that facilitate money laundering deterrent penalties

Finance Committee after meeting with the Minister of Finance and the governor of the CBI announce they will work in conjunction with the Integrity Commission as well as the Committee on Economy and Investment as well as the Speaker of Parliament on further discussion regarding money laundering and action to be taken against those who attempt to sabotage the Iraqi economy in this fashion....the World Bank also warns of issues surrounding money laundering on the world level....Iraq needs to pay attention and do the right thing here.

Ahmad Chalabi: there is not a real auction for the sale of a fixed price quoted currency speculators and steadfast

The head of the Finance Committee spoke and stated there has been no real auction at the CBI with regard to currency...that pricing has been impacted by speculators....well of course it has....the pricing is fluctuating on the street value at the moment....and the supply dwindles as the demand rises causing the price to go upwards as well....change your budget article 50 if you expect to see activity by the CBI....stop being a part of the problem and work towards being part of the solution.

Parliamentary Finance: Baghdad on payment of the province after oil exports rose

Finance Committee reports that Kurd oil exports have been rising....side note....why would the Finance Committee be reporting on this issue....sticking their nose in a direction that it doesn't need to go again.....but regardless the good news remains that Kurd exports have reportedly hit 600,000 barrels of oil per day....the Kurds are doing their part...now the government needs to follow through with their payment as the budget calls for.

Iraq has lost $ 165 billion over six years .. including $ 50 billion for the protections of officials

Iraq says they have lost $165 billion dollars through the DFI in the past 6 years...I would be checking pockets of former politicians and leaders of the government....there are distinct bulges and they are not gaining weight.....

Mismanagement and administrative corruption is putting it lightly....add to this budget surplus years from 2006-2014 totaling $154 billion dollars but they only have $5 billion to show for this....there are sticky hands somewhere....

Shouldn't be too hard to locate them....and on top of all this is overspending on protection of officials....maybe they felt they needed the protection because of the corruption operations they were all running.

The formation of an investigative committee on foreign currency smuggling out of Iraq

Again my buddy from the Finance Committee speaks again....talking of an investigative committee to look into currency smuggling.....why not turn this over to the Integrity Committee let them do their job....what is there to hide from them....

Yes it is wrong to smuggle money out of the country....but for the Finance Committee to be forming a subcommittee within itself to look into smuggling.....I'm thinking PM Abadi needs to watch this group very carefully....they seem to be knocking over teapots and kettles to lay blame upon the CBI for these activities and I'm not one to believe the CBI would be guilty of such actions....time will tell more.

President Barzani Welcomes US Congressional Delegation

President Barzani of the Kurdish region met with US Senate members yesterday, talking about recent victories by the Peshmerga against ISIS terrorists and complimenting the Kurds for their efforts to beat back the terrorists......Barzani also spoke about issues between Baghdad and Erbil saying that he hopes that recent agreements between the two will hold and lead to better relations.

Iraq Crude Exports Rise 15% in March to Highest in 35 Years

Iraqi crude exports continued to rise with March showing an increase of 15% to levels not seen for 35 years.....their exports averaged 2.98 million barrels per day for the month....their sales were at $48.24 per barrel so you can see they are not at budget levels yet.

Ki-card company to launch a campaign for the issuance of a smart card for displaced people in all the provinces

Smart cards are to be issued to all displaced citizens later this month and that includes people within the Kurdistan region....doesn't say how much might be loaded on the cards at this point.
