Monday News Summaries and Commentaries

Well good Monday morning to everyone, meetings with the IMF have concluded, Abadi may be going to Washington next month, or is it next year.....Peshmerga is helping families in the Tikrit, no truce established with or for DAASH....we wait patiently....patiently we wait.....for the BEST is yet to come.

Abadi to visit Washington next month

So PM Abadi may be stopping by the White House next month....to what end....I am sure it will be for him to tell o how he can do a better job in helping Iraq with training, with arms, with money to support their fight against terrorism....because if you don't these thugs have vowed to visit you next.
....
Anton: You can not skip the financial crisis quickly

Iraqi advisors and economists are working side by side with the GOI/COM to bring an end to the financial crisis they are in today....they expect to see mechanisms put into play on the 18th that will bring more support to the private sector and provide that sector with more opportunities in which to help in the crisis situation.

Parliamentary Finance: the continued rise in the dollar's exchange rate against the dinar worries

The Finance Committee continues to want to point fingers at the CBI....although they do admit, or at least allude to the idea that because of the changes that the CBI has put into play recently....it will take some time to get used to those changes and for things to settle down....but in the end....they jab their big fat blaming finger right in the face of the CBI and let them know that in their infinite wisdom as a bunch of politicians it is the CBI's responsibilities to get things right.....leave nothing to blame on the politicians for putting their noses under the tent where they didn't belong in the first place.

Oil announces the rehabilitation of a lot of oil installations in the liberated areas

PM Abadi has ordered all ministries to be prepared with forces to reenter newly liberated areas such as those in the Salahuddin province and start rehab work immediately.....the Oil Ministry has specialized groups who are moving into newly recaptured oil facilities and installations looking for sabotage work by the terrorists and performing inspections to determine what if anything needs to be done with equipment to put wells back into service.

Zebari: We will not stay in Baghdad If you got to believe that the government will not give Kurdistan dues

Ok, Finance Minister Zebari, a Kurd, has been quoted again as saying that the Kurds will not stay in Baghdad.....the Kurds that are involved in the Federal government that is.....if there is not some firm agreement made with the Kurdish delegation towards payments for the 17% of the budget.....Zebari did this act under Maliki too when he was Foreign Minister if you will remember and basically lost his position at that point, but later regained it.....not sure where this kind of "pressure tantrum" will leave things with PM Abadi....I am sure he is expecting a more professional attitude out of his COM ministers.

Abadi and infallible underline the importance of reaching the mechanisms of implementation of the oil agreement between Baghdad and Erbil

Meanwhile we have PM Abadi, a Shiite, and President Masum, a Kurd, both stating that it is of greatest importance to put into play the mechanisms of agreement with concern to the oil situation between the Kurds and Baghdad.....they also discussed the plight of the displaced citizens, especially those who have taken up residence in the Kurdistan.....they require attention.....they also talked about security issues and recent victories against DAASH.

Newspapers: invite foreigners to invest in Iraq .. and "cash" calling for the rationalization of expenditures

The Oil Ministry is using the newspapers to reach out to investors as they look for new investors and new ways in which to draw lucrative investors and their money to Iraq....meanwhile there apparently have been mixed signals being published as to what the Oil Ministry may or may not be doing with regard to existing oil contracts...are they being converted to more of a partnership with Iraq or not....mixed signals coming in this area now it would seem.

Parliamentary Finance: Central Bank sent an appeal to the Federal Court on the articles in the draft budget

The CBI has introduced an appeal before the Federal Supreme Court this month regarding Articles 46 and 50 of the 2015 budget....however the Finance Committee is strutting around acting like their work cannot be touched by anyone....not even the Federal Supreme Court....I'm predicting some feathers to be clipped shortly....such a cocky attitude is not conducive to working in a unified way with anyone.....who died and made them top dog?

Abdul-Mahdi: The Role of the International Monetary Fund monitoring the economy and provide tips and solutions and applied Iraq Fund recommendations

Oil Minister Mahdi says that the IMF has made many recommendations to Iraq and they are mostly valid and in fact many if not all are already being addressed within the infrastructure of the government today.....for once it would appear that Iraq is working in tune with the IMF....a refreshing sign of good deeds by this government.

Oil minister: KRG economy can be self-sufficient in months

So the Kurdish Oil Minister in Erbil is saying that the economy can be self-sufficient in a matter of months....I have to laugh at that, they can't put beans on the table of their own employees.....they struggle to get loans from anyone in the world.....IMO...they are far from ready to wade into the ocean of world finance on their own....months away....I am doubtful....the Oil Minister says he can get their oil production to 750,000 barrels by the end of 2015....he better first focus on 550,000 barrels for now that he hasn't been able to find.....hiding production is not a worthy way of doing business with anyone....today or any day.

Kurdish MP: Kurdistan is Yet to Receive Money From Turkey

The Kurds seem to be unlucky at world finance.....supposedly having made a loan with Turkey.....but they have thus far failed to bring home the bacon....or in this case the bird....no money honey....sure some people boast of deals made...but the bottom line....if the account hasn't grown by $500 million dollars....the money just isn't there.

Kurdish delegation in Baghdad on Tuesday

A Kurdish delegation returns to Baghdad on Tuesday to discuss outstanding issues with the oil and gas agreement between themselves and Baghdad....no mention of who is leading the group this time.....they do mention that they bring "high-level" entities with them.....but will any kind of resolution be found between the two.....its been thought to have happened in the past....but until the ink dries on the paper.....until someone smears it with their palm....no deal....no dice....we wait and see.

Parliamentary Security: The governor of Nineveh gave evidence against al-Maliki, the fall of Mosul

It would appear that the committee investigating the potential issues behind the fall of Mosul last June have run across some damning information against Maliki that was provided by the governor of Nineveh that will definitely require Maliki being questioned by the committee.....this is good news and sounds like it continues to shrink the noose around Maliki's neck.

Committee of Mosul vote on calling Maliki"

The work of the investigating committee around the fall of Mosul has had its work extended by two months and should give them time to bring Maliki in for questioning....nothing that it has found thus far has given the committee reason to overlook Maliki in the line of questioning....but I believe he will do everything within his limited powers today to weasel his way out of being questioned....even to the point of running, although his ability to leave the country is supposedly restricted at this point in time...we shall see what transpires here in the coming weeks.

Commends the work in the private sector and its role in achieving the objectives of the National Employment Policy

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs it to be commended in how it is pulling in the private sector with regard to the National Employment Policy....the ministry is working in conjunction with the Ministry of Planning and others to help with regard to employment potentials for Iraqis in all sectors and it is a positive thing to see the private sector responding as it has in meeting established objectives.

Government surprise parliament draft a new law to Federal Court

New strides are being made with regard to the Federal Court Law that is now stipulating that decisions within the court be done on a consensus basis rather than a majority....there is also talk of adding to the court that would now include four Shariah scholars who would have veto authority on laws that are contrary to existing laws.

Moussawi: determined to pass laws that serve the people of parliament

Coming from a member of the Virtue bloc....Parliament is striving to pass laws that benefit state institutions as well as the Iraqi people....claiming that all political blocs are in agreement to head in this direction....then get 'er done boys and girls....you know and should understand the needed priorities by now.

Jubouri announce sharing the presidency of two between the national and Kurdish coalitions and threatens "not to deal" with those who do not abide by Baltuaqat

This announcement from Speaker Jubouri is an explanation of his decision from last week that got him into a verbal altercation with a group of Parliament members....he is explaining his reasoning in making the decision that was made regarding the Presidency of the Committee on Services and Reconstruction....

He says that each committee is chaired for two years by a President then that position is rotated....this committee had been served by a Kurd as President for the past 2 years and now as he believes should be the case that role is shifted to another bloc....in this case the National Alliance....he points to other committees run by a member of the National Alliance and says when their time is up a Kurd will be appointed as new President to keep in form with expectations for the various committees.

Oil Ministry affirm its commitment to pay dues of international oil companies

The Oil Ministry says it remains committed to paying the debts owed to oil companies working to produce Iraqi oil....they have within their part of the 2015 budget, something to the tune of $9 billion dollars to make payments with...but this does not even cover half of what is owed from previous years that went unpaid....they owe a total of $21 billion dollars and will subsidize the rest by having the CBI sell on the secondary market government Treasury bonds worth about $12 billion dollars....when...when...when....will this happen.....supposedly this month some time....we shall see.

After the closure of more than 25 years .. Kuwait opens its consulate in Basra

Interesting timing for KW to be coming back to Basra with a consulate office....further evidence of reconciliatory efforts between the two governments....a good thing....to happen soon.

Interior Minister: No truce with "Daash"

The Interior Minister has denied any truce being established with DAASH stating that Iraqi combined forces will continue to search out last known holdouts of DAASH garrisons and will not grant any kind of truce to these terrorists....as it should be.

Peshmerga start a new process to restore villages in Kirkuk

Peshmerga and popular crowd forces continue to pound DAASH sites with bombs today in efforts to clear village after village in the Kirkuk province....their efforts continue to be positive and their advances are consistently eliminating areas that previously had been under DAASH control.

Deputy for the rule of law calls infallible president to resign

A deputy with the Rule of Law bloc is calling for President Masum to resign.....all because he will not sign death warrants for those that Maliki put on death row during his campaign of thuggery while PM.....what a thorn in the side of government to have someone still remaining that would be pushing for such action....this deputy ought to be the one who is resigning....get a life.

Sami al-Askari, "military positions" were sold millions of dollars in the Maliki government

Incredible....not only were military positions sold for millions of dollars during Maliki's rule...but so were ministerial positions....my question is did that money all funnel its way up to Maliki.....who was ultimately responsible for such corruption....it has to rest at the top....oh the noose tightens.

Interior Minister: Tikrit Offensive Paused to Allow Civilians to Leave

As DAASH groups are squeezed tighter and tighter within Tikrit.....the advancing Iraqi forces have paused just lone enough to give civilians the opportunity to clear the city as bombing runs are being called in on the known DAASH positions....progress is being slowed somewhat, but it saves lives in the long run.

Peshmerga Just 15km From Mosul

Peshmerga forces sit poised within 15 km of Mosul as they await Iraqi forces to catch up from the south before launching a united force against DAASH strongholds within the city.....in the meantime they defend their positions against attacks launched by DAASH groups with success.

Jubouri calls on the judicial authorities to launch a campaign to reset the outstanding issues and resolve the detainees files

Parliament Speaker Jubouri is calling on judicial authorities to act on behalf of humanitarian efforts that would clear up any outstanding issues that might surround detainees who are being held without just cause....we are still talking 10's of thousands of individuals we remain incarcerated without trial or charges against them....all from the efforts of the former government and its leadership....he is saying it is time to move beyond this kind of dictatorship.

International poll confirms enjoy Abadi popular and a wide ratio of strong support among citizens

International polls are indicating that PM Abadi has considerable popularity not only amongst Shiites but Sunnis as well....the polls also indicate that Abadi has a high level of acceptance amongst all Iraqis regardless of province or prior allegiance.

Secretary General of the Council of Ministers meeting chaired by stabilizing and rebuilding the liberated areas

Secretary General for COM sees two fronts as necessary to stabilize areas that have been recently liberated from DAASH terrorists...first humanitarian efforts that include water, sanitation facilities, food, shelter, hospitals, and education....secondary to these efforts is the need to provide security for the areas as well as to commence reconstructive efforts in getting villages, farms, and industry back on its feet again...he calls upon international coalition efforts to help Iraq through these efforts....calling upon help from all over the world.

IMF recommends activating the government taxes and expect Iraqis grew by 2% during 2015

What comes from the recent IMF meetings with Iraq....a growth for 2015 in the neighborhood of 2%.....a turn-around from what happened in 2014.....just turmoil.....and also an expectation to commence government taxation through the beginning efforts of collecting taxes that will support state revenues through business taxation as well as taxation from a customs standpoint...success will be dependent on putting together a working plan that will see the implementation of these process going forward for Iraq....these are areas they already have put time and effort into....they expect to see Iraq improve their efforts as money management stewards and to keep a handle on unnecessary expenses.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Integrity: 400 major corruption case files under investigation

The Integrity Commission has published that they are working on 400 major corruption cases....in addition to this they are working on money laundering cases associated with banks that were participating in CBI auctions.....and are following up to $100 billion dollars in project money through opened bank credit accounts....they are busy bees and those from the former government have better found a very large rock to crawl under....though I doubt you will be able to stay hidden for long.

Mnzboa traffic and civil defense in Mosul receive paychecks from Baghdad

Signs of things changing in Mosul as some employees of the province are receiving back payment of salaries....I am sure this is being done very carefully so as to not allow the money to fall into the wrong hands.....it has to be a positive morale builder as well.

Kuwaiti Ambassador: participation of our companies in the reconstruction of Iraq determined by the opportunities and nature

Kuwait is basically telling Iraq we can't help you from a military standpoint in fighting DAASH but there are certain things we can do from a business standpoint if we can be assured of a good return on our investment and that projects will be completed....in other words don't mess with us with all your corruption that we've seen in the past....show us the real deal that your new government is talking about and we will be there to help with reconstructive efforts....we want to be a good neighbor.

Well I'm going to grab a stopping point here and share with you all that I have constructed this morning....enjoy this and ready yourself for a FANTASTIC CC tonight....remember.....the BEST is yet to come.

Aloha Randy
